France BANS Police Drones.. Is that all drones with Cameras? 

I do not get how you can have an expectation of privacy in public. How can your privacy be violated in a public or an open area?

If you really want to spy on someone, you'll be better checking someone Facebook page, instead of a drone - that's all made public information by the user!

I agree with you! If they're putting a ban on using Police drones for surveillance then like you said, what about CCTV? If they ban one then surely they should ban both because CCTV is doing the same thing that drones do, watching people!!! What's the difference?

Ikopta Here is a question for everyone to ask about privacy with Street cctv .camera’s. mobile phone camera’s .camera’s in general They are everywhere. Why is there a privacy law to begin with Drones are normally used in scenic Scenes and not to see who is Out and about ?

For example, you are not allowed to fly any drone in a built up area or within 500 metres of a building without special permission. *_Drones may not be flown over people;_*_ over airports or airfields; over private property (unless with owner’s authorization); over military installations, prisons, nuclear power plants, historical monuments, or national parks._ There is a map at Géoportail on the French government website shows flying zones...

They should be able to use them to help out with this virus we have and not putting themselves at risk thats crazy

I agree with your argument regarding the use of drones to enforce laws in public view. If something was captured in a place which were privately protected, the we would allow the courts to determine that and then if they determine a right to privacy, then the pilot is disciplined and the evidence surrendered to the victim.

I agree with you. That judge had no business ruling that way. Just shows how poorly decisions are made when they don’t understand the technology. Obviously they have never seen drone footage. Most of the time there is no way to identify a person from that distance and the wide angle lens that most drones use.

In Mexico, Helicopters fly ablout 70 mtr over the area with speakers. They broadcast warnings of too much activity.

This is ridiculous. Safer for everyone involved to use the drones

Someone on a rooftop with a half decent telephoto lens would get better video or photos than a drone could, so why aren't telephoto lenses banded for the same reason.

If you think this is bad, I am currently a student of computer science in London. However before this I worked for a short time and security including CCTV. On my way to work I was playing with my mobile phone when this woman whose tinfoil hat was not immediately visible starts trying to claim that my phone can be hacked by the government to spy on her. At this point we were on a moving train between two underground stations in central London, no cellular service, no Wi-Fi service, decent enough VPN, CCTV on every platform. Every person who is in counted people like this will Know simple logic could not penetrate that level of stupid!

Those with any issue should not use smart phones as they can infringe the same rights. So will France ban these too? 🤔 And what about helicopters? So France don’t have any? If they do all they’ve done is given all criminals caught by them, a loophole citing civil liberty infringement! This is a case of France shooting itself in the foot. I am proud of my local police force’s drone unit.

This whole drone spying thing is stupid. Like you say we have CCTV cameras & phones sending out details. Drones are a great tool for emergency services .

I think the judge has been forced to make this ruling because of the strict laws France has concerning photography in public places. Although people do it all the time, you are not allowed to take a photograph in public if there is an identifiable person in the view who has not consented to being photographed.

would that not also effect the police helicopter units as they've camera units fitted "very powerful camera units at that" these like our police happily fly over our roof tops clearly within sight of our gardens & house windows etc (several camera systems can see into the window if curtains are open) adding to that our own police force have had numerous members of the police aerial units found guilty of perving through house/apartment windows.. so if drones have been banned in france hmm

According to RT news its only paris that have banned them, but that just smacks of a rusty cobweb covered old judge not having a balanced fact based argument. Anyway, watching the vid im referring to, at 1 min 15 seconds, i saw something really interesting, now i know they were using a mavic 2 enterprise but the shot of one officer with the remote and crystalsky with what looked like a dji attachment bracket, now i tried getting one but all thats available is for the original mavic which doesn't fit, can anyone tell me if there is one quick release bracket for mavic 2 and crystalsky monitor anywhere in the world as there's nothing in UK sorry about the rant🤪

They should be aloud.. sp.. to announce patrols using the drones. But I agree no eye in the sky footage popping up in court saying ..yep this is you. Our loyal and ever honest patrolman did a visual on you as well. Oh no, hes not required to inform you.. We'd never get any revnue that way. But again to announce patrols and give people a heads up that pigs are afoot. Should be allowed..And no lasers...

It's crazy but soon those drone will all be legacy drones so the police couldn't fly them anymore, Or will the police break the drone rules when that comes into force?? The judge is a crazy fool and these makes no sense. My own Dad was anti-drone untill I showed him some footage. Now he thinks they are amazing and what they can do. He was one of the people who thought you could spy on people with them 😂 abit hard when you are 100 feet plus. God bless him he is 71 but update with most technology but not drone's.

Good. Only allow cameras when they are publicly accessible in police environments so we can see how kind the police are to the public when there are arrests and in the holding of people.
