u should check out bombs aweigh it also has kathryn grayson and frank sinatra theres some real good "cute" scenes lol I didn't know someone my age (you) appreciated this kinda stuff so cool
Happy 74th Anniversary 2 this movie. It may have flopped at the box office, but it left us (myself specifically) starstruck with some of the incredible talent that was featured in it. Including that of the little boy in the gym number who only worked in this one picture, and was never seen again. I pray Bobby Long is still alive and well 💖
The song says essentially, run off with me (Sinatra) and Grayson responds, "Not so fast." Peter Lawford, in love with Grayson, is afraid they will run off...to get married.
Wonderful, and actually well sung, they both complimented each other. I loved it, seeing and hearing Sinatra singing opera. I think he paid a compliment to Mozart by taking on that role and presenting it with such very fine singing technique and charming interpretation. I was smiling and enjoying it all the way through.
Sinatra sings a semi tone down, but considering Mozart composed at 422, not 440 Hz, this is actually close to how he wanted it to sound. Its very nice interpretation.
In spite of all the serious technical and musical problems with these two singing this duet, Sinatra nevertheless captures the perfect character of the moment: charming, non-threatening, sweet seduction. He keeps it light and smiling the whole time. What woman could resist?
LazlosPlane The lively way they did the 6/8 section is surprisingly fascinating because it evokes Zerlina’s initial duet with Masetto. Usually that part is slightly faster but still mellow. I’d like to see some actual productions try it this way.
Sin entrar en comparaciones musicales, que no son procedentes, esta escena tiene una frescura, un desparpajo y una gracia que serían impensables en una comedia de hoy.
I loved this movie! Frank & Kathryn’s singing, just beautiful. Jimmy Durante I loved. Peter Lawford, an anemic performance. He appeared lovesick throughout the movie. Kathryn should have gone with Frank, more exciting. They made 3 movies together.🧡🧡🧡
@@JRRLewis not as strong as yours, you can hear the difference in the word "ristorar". Frank had Italian origins after all, he didn't speak Italian but he was probably more familiar with it. His voice, the way his mouth articulates words are more appropriate for Italian language.
@@EMO_BURP I know some people who r my age and they are dedicated to keep people like Frank Sinatra's legacy alive. I have a fan account of him on ig @songs_of_sinatra . You can check it out.
My only complaint is the ending (3:34 onwards). They're supposedly forced to sing on the spot. It's impossible that they could improvise the ending like that without preparations. It makes the scene unrealistic.
I just would like to share some proof that Kathryn Grayson wasn't really a good singer... That Sinatra doesn't have an operatic voice is clear, since he was a professional in popular singing which is very different from the operatic style- still Sinatra has sung this song very well in his own style. But Kathryn Grayson has trained as a professional opera singer and, well, she can't really sing. She tries to sing opera with a too weak voice, which is something that a real opera singer can't have. Even Sinatra as a singer of popular music had such a strong voice that with some training he maybe could even sing real opera. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7cUT3FBjqEE.html
