Sinatra was brilliant in this film. Many film critics believed that his acting was equal to or even better than his Academy Award winning Oscar role in From Here To Eternity. Frank, like his perfectionist as a singer was equally as good as an actor.

Agreed, they should have given him another Oscar for this.

Over the years Frankie-boy evidently realized that the more crap he laid down in an interview, the more it the public liked it. One has to admire the pure *genius* of such a consummate bullshitter. Not because his bullshit is so great, but because he was so unceasingly insincere and phony in laying it down. Most amazing of all is Sinatra's "phrasing" whenever he laid down a load. And of course his outstanding ability to b.s. three, sometimes four moves in advance. What a man! What a load!

His "bullshit" may've been genius but his singing was even more so. Have you ever heard his 'Only the Lonely' or 'Songs for Swingin' Lovers' LPs? If not, you may shift your opinion on the man's talent. And if you have, then you're deaf as a post ;)

Let's be honest, Sinatra's performance in Man with the Golden Arm was so hoaky and so over-the-top. When he starts to climb out the window and Kim Novak stops him ... they both should have jumped out the window, it would have made the scene much better.

I'm a recovering heroin addict. His performance was realistic.
