Frankenstein, Steve Vai & Zakk Wylde & Nuno Bettencourt & Tosin Abasi, Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, New Jersey; May 9th, 2016; Generation Axe - A Night of Guitars
You obviously have never looked that deeply into music. His approach to music is extremely unique. And just because he likes to hit a low note every now and then doesn't mean you should discredit him entirely. Take a music appreciation class or something, every piece of music has it's place.
Exactly. Because that would probably be fucken boring. It's obvious these guys are paying homage to this great song and expounding and obviously improvising on it. Good for them!
HairyNutsack69 as a big fan of periphery they do not have 3 lead guitarists. Live they have two play the main riff to emulate the double tracking sound you hear on records and then someone (usually jake) is playing a amibient backround part or rythm
3 mins 40 - That's amazing you never see that. Steve Vai played Nuno's guitar, and sounded exactly like Steve Vai still. The tone must from the fingers as they say
AutomobileFunk No, it’s in the attack and how you manipulate the strings. If it were all scales, Zakk and SRV would sound the same because they primarily rely on the pentatonic box.
Stop the hate and the irrelevent comparisons guys pls ! this is an event where we have rockstars, a virtuoso and a prog genius working together and trying to give us something unique. diversity can be a good thing you know !
Only thing that's a legitimate bitch... how freaking loud it was. It was ridiculous! We all wished we brought ear plugs smfh. The sound guy needs to get his ass booted out the door.
I love Steve Via! And everything he did On the DLR band albums and thanks for “Big Trouble” Zack is the driving force of blues metal... just another bad ass from Ocean County. Long live the Jackson metal scene! You can’t kill rock and roll... I Still miss Randy...
Travis don't strain too hard brother I'll break it down, the painters excluding (Mr. Rodgers) are genius in their own right and are used here as an analogous figures to illustrate that even great works when overlapped can create well "a mess" take a random work by any of the fore mentioned painters excluding (Mr. Rodgers) and superimpose them on to the same screen layered one atop the other and whatcha got? Noise!
+Seth Harris Nuno's the greatest "artist" as opposed to finger gymnast with standard shred technique in the group. No one is a frigging Mr Rodgers in this group but Zak is about a Remington and Vinnie Moore would be a master counterfeiter if he was there.
I know, they have been featured in magazines, have mass recognition and have a wide distribution of their music....all internationally. You are right, compared to them WE are guitar toddlers.
I have been wanting to do this song entirely on guitar since I first heard it back in 2014 I finally gave it an attempt to recreate it. All was going well up till the drum solo for some weird reason I just abandoned the song and haven't finished it since. Which brings me to how much I love the greatest guitarist on one stage to recreate this I enjoyed this so much thank you thank you thank you.
True. I saw video footage of that version of the song ("Am I Evil"), and I was disappointed by how much they left out of that version of the song. With all the talent they had on the stage that day, they could have taken it so much further! (Musical coitus interruptus... Ouch!)
What a performance,an evolution of a classic rock song. All 4 shredders were superb. The bass & drummer felt excellent. Please watch my music videos on RU-vid sound defects part 1&2,Choir Song(Audio), Sound Cloud From the EP"Seek the Lord".These guys are a great inspiration & I loved seeing them altogether. Jydu.
