I always thought Niles and Daphne was a reflection of Martin and Hester. Frasier and Niles' mother was an upper class, highly educated, up-tight professional psychiatrist; Martin was a down to earth, rough around the edges, working class street cop. In almost every way, they were from two different worlds. But when they came together, it was true love. Look at Niles and Daphne. Nile's is very much like his mother: an upper class, highly educated, up-tight professional psychiatrist; and then he meets Daphne, a down to earth, rough around the edges, working class therapist. They were meant to be.
Niles really had Martin in him as far as edgy, liking the small things and such. Daphne brought it out in him; he craved hamburgers, had a talent for shooting and let's not forget Island Niles!
When my wife and I broken up after 30yrs. These episodes help me get through the break up and the pain I kept imagining that was me falling in love all over again may one day it will bit not now thank for the memories.
That's depressing. Happiness isn't "out there". And it's not worthwhile even if it is. You need to embrace the futility of existence. Why do you want to be happy anyway?
Of course happiness is out there! If it makes you feel better after my mom and dad divorced after a long marriage my dad just found a girlfriend at 62 and sometimes I can hear them on the phone with each other and they sound just like a young couple. So don't ever feel like its too late to experience love again

Stay strong, and thanks for sharing. I remember watching the original airing of these episodes, hoping I to one day would find true love, with a woman with a charming accent. I remember the episode were they were trying to find cute pet names for one another, and she calls him, "My Love" My African wife has a lovely accent, and calls me, "My Love"
It's amazing how they managed to keep an otherwise creepy emotional roller coaster so sweet, pure and innocent. Great writing supported by terrific acting and chemistry by the two.

Yeah, sure, that's totally what's happening and you're not at all leaving out all the unsavoury parts that actually lead to women wanting to keep their distance.
The problem is that they became a perfectly happy couple. Perfectly happy couple’s don’t make for entertaining sitcoms. Niles worsipped Daphne, so there was no real purchase for any conflict.
@den o - I’d love to see it, if it was in any way workable. But Frasier was lightning in a bottle, and the way most sitcoms are made has changed radically. The 90s’ - early 00s’ was an amazing time for the 3 camera, audience-based sitcom, but since The Office (UK & USA versions) the landscape is so different. The remaining traditional sitcoms, for the most part, are pretty awful.
I thought the scenes with Phyllis were so funny. The poor woman was convinced Niles was a poisioner after Frasier told her about the fictional Heather.
I'm really grateful to the writers 🙏 for giving Niles & Daphne the happy ending they deserve. I will believe Daphne thought of this moment after talking with her father...😭
I really liked the fact that she didn’t find out about Niles feelings for her from Niles. I feel like it gave her time to process his feelings and come to terms with them as well as giving her an opportunity to see him in a different light and discover any feelings she might have.
I mean, it was all because Frasier was high on the Tylenol #3, and spilled the beans. Later on, he was the one to tell Niles that Daphne shared his feelings. 😊 Wouldn't have happened without him.
I just don't get how the show runners were so lucky. What are the odds that they look at someone's photo, think he looks like the guy who's starting in the show, and he turns out to be ridiculously talented, funny and iconic.
@@barbara-annperry5941 In what logic/sense is he a waste? He is one of the best actors and one of the real gems of that show(see the director's notes where they explain how a simple character which was supposed to look like a young Frasier became a huge presence in the show). None of the others could've made the romance so realistic and funny like he did. Even Jane Leeves(Daphne) herself said in the documentary that she was so impressed with him.
@@darp007 What I meant was I had a crush on David Hyde Pearce. Niles, I loved the Niles and Daphne, chemistry. It is a waste for us women folk who had a crush on him that he is gay in real life. It was meant as a light hearted comment.
I was a kid when Frasier used to air late night where I am and I used to think "Damn Niles, get that stick out your ass and tell her!" I hadn't even taken in that he was married when he met Daphne.
This is wonderful. I often find myself commenting 'these are the best scenes' on nearly every video I watch of Fraiser clips. ; ) Well...I guess it was just the show for me that was always just one best scene after another. These are the best scenes of Niles and Daphne. LOL

I loved watching how love struck Niles was, it was so hilarious and the way Frasier and Marty joined in on it. They should have kept going with this, I didn't like how once they were married, they started portraying Daphne as mean to him (like Merris was). I guess the producers just didn't know what to do with them.
I never perceived that at all. I think she was still who she had always been: a no-nonsense girl, as she had been with Marty and to an extent with Frasier. With Niles she had always been a bit more polite, but once they were together, she was free to be herself with him too. But she loved him. The episode when he's in hospital... she cared deeply fo him. A strong relationship is like that.
The think I didn't like about this relationship was Daphne's attitude like she was so inocent she didn't realize how attracted he was go her. Yes, right! 😒 I would have prefered they picture her in a more realistic approach. She was no dumb as a character, why they wanted to portrayed her this way? Is annoying.
