Frasier - Niles at the basketball game 

"Whatever happens he is still your brother and he is my son", perhaps one of the most touching sentence coming from a father who knows his son is not into sports.

It was nice to see Niles have a win that was physical instead of intellectual.

Oddly enough, easily one of the most touching scenes in the series.

Martin's friends leaving messages on the answering machine and how proud he was of Niles was the best part.

Everyone who was bad at sports in school and always picked last know how Niles feels before and when he realized he made the shot 😊 You know it's a TV-show but you still feel bloody proud of him. If Daphne was there 😊

His face acting in this is phenomenal. I felt every moment.

Best part of this: no special fx. It took a lot of attempts, but DHP eventually legit sank the shot.

David Hyde Pierce is an amazing actor. I was especially impressed by how utterly scared out of his mind Niles looks during his fumbling attempts to put on the vest.

....and back at Frasier's apartment Niles said that the truck he won doing this would be good for antiquing. Yet another reason why Niles was so perfect.

"Haven't done a lot of basketballing" LOL! Niles Crain Rocks!!

One of the best moments in this series. I love the part where Frasier and Martin both facepalm when Niles fucks up before making the shot.

One of the funniest parts of this scene for me is how Niles looks like he's about to cry when he's trying to put the jersey on.

"OH! What the hell was that?" "Nothing, it's just halftime" Class.

I loved this scene!! You went from cringing at Niles to cheering your guts at for him in record speed! And to learn that he actually did it in real life (mind, after a few takes or so) -- awesomeness times awesomeness. Niles has balls of titanium, he does!

Man I get this. I totally get the rush of someone naturally un-sporty finally achieving a basketball goal through chance. It’s pretty thrilling.

This is one of my favorite "Niles" moments.

The part that makes this a classic for me is the way the shot is framed, with Niles on the bottom corner and the ball flying to the basket XD

Oh, poor Niles! I know how he feels! He looks like a small, terrified rabbit. So happy it ended well for him. He was why I used to watch 'Frazier.'

I thought it was genius how all we hear is the music and the ball bouncing and then the shot being made. It helped build the tension

I was so happy for Niles when I first saw this and still am. Just loved at how shocked he is that he did.

Nobody will ever convince me that Niles wasn't the main character of this show. I don't care if it's his brother's name in the title, Niles is the protagonist.

One of my favorite Frasier episodes. ❤😂

When this show was first run on the network they showed many of the missed shots during the end credits. David Hyde Pierce took about 30 shots before he made one successfully. They do not show these in any syndicated viewings I have ever seen. Maybe they're on the DVD releases. Also note that the shots are taken in an almost totally dark arena, save for two spotlights. I assume this was done so that Hyde Pierce wouldn't have to do this with a full crowd watching him miss all those times. Still, a fun episode.

That was one of the best and most triumphant moments of the series, especially for Niles. Maybe even more than when Daphne showed up in the Winnebago in her wedding gown before she was supposed to marry Donny. Well....maybe. Of course that line when Niles tells Daphne to fasten her seatbelt and she replies, "Fasten yours, Niles." Yeah, that was pretty triumphant too. He was certainly in for a wild ride during season 8!

This is my favorite episode. I love it! I love the music effects, and of course, the symbolism. Niles was just about to have his first time with Daphne.

Missed a golden moment "Oh my, these rich, waxy emollients are delightfully soothing." His moment of triumph, and the sheer madness in his eyes are adequate though :)

I found it funny when Martin sarcasticaly compared Frasier to "Pistol Pete" Maravich.

Niles feints toward the coat rack, slips his arms out of the sleeves, makes a play for the coat hook and it's gooooooood!!

It’s was such a beautiful moment.

Before Niles throws he looks to his father and brother for Frasier's approval (the thumb's up) and his father's positive vibes (dad doing the tribal chant with the fists). I believe it is this that drives Niles forward.

Love this scene‼️ I wasn’t that great at sports. One day at our gym-class softball game, I slid into second base ‘Safe’!! Unfortunately I was also out, because my knee hyperextended and swelled up to the size of a soccer ball.
