Best of Marty Crane

*Before you judge me for spelling 'Cheers' incorrectly, it's on purpose (because John Mahoney does it that way in the Cheers clip I used).
Some other things worth noting: these clips aren't mine. The ads don't make me any money...and the intro song is something I found.
Here is where the intro/outro song is from:
• Redbone but it's Marty... *
At 77 years young, actor John Mahoney passed away today. Frasier is one of my favorite shows, thanks in part to its cast (including John Mahoney as Frasier's dad, Martin Crane). His performances in Coen Bros films Hudsucker Proxy and Barton Fink weren't meaty, however, John made them stand out. He did the same with Martin Crane, turning out an impressive arc over the course of 11 seasons. As a widowed, handicapped, curmudgeonly ex-cop father of two elitist psychiatrists, Martin, with his trusty cane and his Ballantine, wisecracked his way into our hearts. These are just some of the amazing moments I could think of, featuring one of the best TV dads (I obviously don't own the rights to these clips, i found them on RU-vid!) --- With all these old shows coming back, I can't imagine a Frasier reunion without him. Enjoy the view and lemme know in the comments about the great scenes I missed :P
** RIP John Mahoney **

My favorite line from Marty was when he, Niles, and Frasier had to pick up Daphne on the floor, and he says, "Daphne, I just thought of something funny: it took three Cranes to lift you!". I remember laughing so hard after that line, I was in tears. Lol

Oh bless that dear man, how I loved him and his humour. "They should let everyone be giants for a day" Marty absolutely stoned. One of my favourites, but there are just so many, Kelsey said how he loved John, didn't we all Kelsey. Those twinkling eyes and down to earth humour, some people you cannot ever forget and John was one of them. Rest in Peace and thank you for all the laughs.

Very sad to hear of John Mahoneys death. Perfectly cast in Frasier. I believe people will watch it for many years to come. I certainly will. RIP.

The scene that starts at 7:35 had me in stitches, especially when Martin hit the bad note and Eddie hid his face!

I love all 6 main characters from Frasier (I'm including Eddie) plus people like Bulldog, Gill and Kenny but Marty Crane will always be my favorite. He reminds me of my dad, very funny, very down to earth and very caring too.

Hi, can anyone tell me the episode where Frasier tries to set his dad up on a date but it doesn't work and at the end Martin says that his wife was his only true love and is irreplaceable. I confess I'm not a big watcher of Frasier the series but I saw this episode and it was heart-wrenching. Thanks.

Njugglesvatn I think it's the telescope episode in season one, 'here's looking at you' it's called. Great Martin episode, you're right!

Hello, thanks so much!. I've looked at this episode and it's maybe related to this episode but the one I remember actually ends with Martin standing(at a bar?) with his back to Frasier and saying that when he met his first wife Rose they both knew "this was it". :)

GOOD LIVING I've been trying to think of this one too. Maybe if we can figure out another character's storyline from the same episode. Could it be the one where they discover Martin's Viagra?

Season 5 Episode 11. Martin is planning to propose to Sherry but realises she wouldn't want to get married again so never asks her and they break up. Then he sits at the bar with Frasier and says he never had that trouble with Hester. "We knew we were meant to be together and that was that." John had an awesome range. Only a few lines in that scene but he says so much.

So sad John Mahoney is gone now. Martin sure had the best lines. Plus even though Frasier was the one who blurted out to Daphne how Niles truly feels about her in Season 7's "Back Talk", it was really Martin who got the ball rolling. The moment he said "I've kept my mouth shut for 6 years, I'm not saying anything now.", there was clearly no turning back (even though Daphne thought it was Frasier who had feelings for her).
