Mr Reeve did a remake of Rear Window after his accident. I wonder if someone saw this clip of Reeve's voice as a shut-in and put two and two together to get that role for him.
Your dismissing Friends, Seinfeld. , Two and half men ?.. all blow Frazier out of the water. Think about it he,s and educated man. Who spends all his time with his brother. Can’t find a woman he doesn’t pick at till he finds flaws. Is the most Elitist man you could meet and yet his father is his direct opposite. But they live together and he always has the opinion. He is right all else is wrong The whole premis of the show doesn’t make sense
@@michaelnaisbitt1639 that is the premise of the show. Two and a half men was pretty good but, friends was half decent but seinfeld blew chunks. Even if it was the only thing on i still wouldn't watch it. Seinfeld is about as funny as a 3rd heart attack.
I was really young when I first saw the show and thought it was the most boring thing ever. Now that I understand it, I get how it ran for so many seasons.
It's funny how different things look when you get older. When Fawlty Towers was first out on TV, 10-year-old me thought that Sybil was the difficult character...
His advice actually did help me too. And Frazier's advice hit me especially hard emotionally because my first name is also Claire. So it felt like he was directly talking to me. I'm glad it helped you too though!😁
@@hughvane I never understood why she didn't have a bigger career. She's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. She has perfect comic timing and she had a really likeable personality. Top that off by being a good actress too. She's hardly even aged too! Although I do blame her for me now being attracted to women way outside my league.
LP SP the boring voice caller is Henry Mancini, who wrote Moon River, which they used riiiiight after that call to try and fix things with Frasier’s dad and the woman he was dating. Pretty fun! And yeah, 90s Peri Gilpin is my absolute fashion goal (Jane Leeves’ early Daphne outfits, too)
My favorite celebrity caller is Gary Sinise as Sid, who can't talk on the phone with strangers without writing down his answers beforehand... cracks me up every time I see that episode. Season 2 Episode 18
Such a clever conceit. And a joy to find out some of their names! Must have been great fun for these celebs. What a pity Frasier has left the building.....
The Jay Leno call is hilarious! Often, Jay Leno would include a lot jokes about Americans being overweight, and constantly expanding waist lines because of fast food. Frasier's line about the heat lamp is genius!
It would make a fun quiz to play all of the calls back to back. Kinda impressive that they got such well known actors to do these little bits, considering it was the first season.
Most of those people were able to literally phone in their dialogue. Most of them probably thought it was a fun way to spend a bit of their time, even before the show was a popular hit. I mean, it couldn't have taken them more than a few takes to get the calls recorded. I also loved how they made a lot of the calls ironic based on the actor. Christopher Reeve, who played Superman, was afraid of open spaces while Piper Laurie, the mom from Carrie, was strict about her daughter's behavior. This show was SO amazingly witty!
Also, Henry Mancini, who does the caller that hates his own voice composed Moon River and Frasier plays that write after he talks to him in that episode! I've been wanting to tell someone that for YEEAAARRS!
Cockoff Gewgle The episode (or scene storyline reference) titled "The Ex" which refers to Lilith calling into the show. Because he makes the remark of Lilith being a "celebrity" when all the characters were voiced by celebrity callers, as well as a fourth wall joke to the audience who may have known Lilith from "Cheers", of which Frasier was a spin off.
Rosemary Clooney was amazing ... true, first time I heard of her was when she did guest spots on 'ER', but then I found out who she really was, and my God, her life story is something else ...
This is why I like watching Frasier on Amazon...it shows who is in the scene. One episode had Henry Mancini calling in as a character, but they played Moon River after that...I only noticed that the 4th time (over the years) I went through all Seasons. Such a wonderful show!
The "I hate my voice" brings back good memories. I used to do that to my sister, only my voice is naturally high-pitched and hill billy twangy. She said it was like an ice pick thru the temple.
Wow Henry Mancini?! I met him a long time ago. Such a wonderful and amusing man. I chatted with him for a bit. He was amazed that someone as young as I...at the time knew who he was. High school band Sir, high school band. I was 25 when I met and talked with him
That call with Linda Hamilton in the beginning made me think about my own potential relationship when things didn't work out. It made me stop and think about how hung up i was on a guy who i was never gonna be with and who i was gonna be.
Frasier’s greatest folly was to never quite appreciate what an attractive woman he had sitting right next to him everyday at work just because in his book, she wasn’t as smart or sophisticated as his high brow standards demanded.
@0:29 Oh My GOD!!! I just discovered I plagiarized this bit. After my brother's wife passed and he couldn't get over it, I literally said this to him. Not the part about Lupi Valez but the other part.
Not gonna lie, that could totally be Sarah after Kyle died, but before the ending of her accepting her fate and driving to the storm that's coming. Like set few weeks after destroying the T-800, in need of some mental help, she uses a fake name and story to try and get some help.
