Your video tours are just about perfect for me. I love the lack of heavy editing - your pro tempore comments are so much more ehchanting. The commentary is just excellent along with the great videos. I'm Toronto born but we lived in NB when I was a kid and it brings back memories. In 1962 I was "confirmed" at the cathedrall here by "Henry Bishop of Fredericton. It was all pretty grand for a kid who lived in the little village of Salisbury, NB. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your kind words Allen. We love when we can help rekindle some memories for people who lived here at one time. Hopefully, you'll come back for a visit sometime soon.
Thanks for the adventure and the "humorous commentaries"! It was nice to see how much Fredericton has grown but like you... I love Saint John! Keep up the great fun & natural videos! 🙂🤗🤗🤗🙂
One the highlights of Fredericton is to drive along Waterloo Row to see the most stately homes of the city. The building opposite the Legislature of New Brunswick ( not called a Parliament)is the Beaverbrook Art Gallery which is one of the finest art galleries in the country. It is a real gem and well worth a visit, not something you would expect to see in a city of this size. You should have driven further upriver, onto Woodstock Rd where you would see Willmot Park, Government House( home of the Leutenant Govenor), the Delta Hotel and the Diplomat Restaurant( one of the citys' favourites).
Good morning. You are welcome. I forgot to mention that historically, Christ Church Cathedral is one the oldest buildings to see ( you came very close) and the best approach to U.N.B. is to drive from the riverfront all the way up University Ave. ( many Victorian homes on it). I wish you both all the best in your new home but keep in mind Fredericton and Saint John have been rivals since their establishment. Enjoy both cities and ignore the locals on their prejudices.😁
Hi Duggans! Thank you so much for showing us the city we will call home, Godwilling, in 3 months time. Including NBCC where Jessica will attend. This video was such a pleasent surprise as there are practically none on RU-vid. It's more beautifull than we imagined. We love Fredericton! Ups sorry Wendy...
Two vehicle bridges: Princess Margaret Bridge and Westmorland St Bridge. No pedestrian crossing on the Princess Margaret. There is also a pedestrian bridge Bill Thorpe between the two bridges.
@@jjt7973 Couldn't agree more. We moved here from the greater Vancouver area, and find New Brunswick to be just as beautiful, with less pollution, less crime, friendlier people and way cheaper homes. But more snow.
Thanks. Please forgive my brain fart calling it Parliament building instead of Legislature. We don't live in Fredericton and had only been there a couple of times, so in many ways we were discovering the city just as we were helping our viewers to discover the city.
Hi. The tour was quite enjoyable and entertaining. I enjoyed the beautifull views, the excellent explanation and specially the songs at the end of the video. Thanks for sharing.
A part of me regrets not choosing Fredericton campus instead of Moncton for school. This town is so pretty. When I come to Canada, you guys will have to make this drive around town a reality for me. 😉
I have stayed at the summer hotel at UNB, this is where you rent one of the dorm rooms while in Fredericton. Very reasonable prices and a breakfast. We have done this once with family and once on our own. An awesome option for budget travel and they are so helpful re where to go and what to do.
It was fun to watch this. I live in Fredericton, have most of my life, and would like to show you around next time you come. I love your video and I think I could help by being a tour guide. There is so much more to see. The Northside has grown sooo much and we have much more than residential here. Treasures to be found. If you’re interested send me a message. Summer tours are great, but I’m not opposed to a winter tour either! Now I have to go watch some of your Saint John videos because I haven’t been there much! :) seriously give me a shout if you’re interested in a guided tour!
At 24:18, building on left with windows is Chancery Place, which is the location of many government department offices, including the Premier's office.
This is a great video! I moved to Fredericton last Fall for an amazing job. I have been several times here before, however, since I have family elsewhere in New Brunswick. I really love this city; I only wish that public transit was better -- a 30-minute walk in Winter is no utterly fun. ☹
My friends just moved in Dec to Noonan Heights about 15 min outside of Fredericton. They love it. They told me alot of the establishments, restaurants, grocery stores are dog friendly. You can bring your dog inside. In cafés they have dog beds and water dishes for your pets while you enjoy your lunch! Im considering moving out there from Ontario as well so I find these videos helpful! I don't want to live right in a city as I'd like a couple of acres.
It's pretty easy to find small acreages 15 minutes or so from the cities here, we have found them for several clients. NB is a great place to live. Some cities and towns are more dog friendly than others. Saint John and Fredericton are very dog friendly.
At 5:01, on the left you can see the Currie Center, which has the main gymnasium and fitness facilities. Closer to the road is the older gymnasium known as the Lady Beaverbrook Gym, which also has the UNB pool.
Another great video. When entering UNB you went to the left, for the right side (Dineen drive) you have the engineering, biomedical building, book store. Our whole family spent many hours in Head Hall the engineering building. Wendy would like Sir Howard Douglas Hall. For the downtown area, just past City Hall, 77 Westmorland is the passport office. While you were stuck in traffic on Regent, you past the hospital Dr Everett Chalmers
@@WeLoveSaintJohn She seems to love old buildings with character. I love looking at that building. I went into engineering because of my love for the Saint John buildings with character, the Victoria style buildings. I hear the same love in Wendy’s comments
@@pamgodsoe9076 Ah, yes. Coming from Vancouver, where as you know they tear down most of the old buildings, it is a true pleasure to see the beautifully preserved architecture throughout New Brunswick.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn I remember some sad demolished buildings in Saint John, Union Station, my father bakery on King street ( the church sold the land to the bank), MRA department store, general hospital, the Paramount Theater at King Square. Just to name a few
Thank you so much on your very helpful and enjoyable videos. You both do a great job with the commentary and humour. Love the singing (I sang with you)! 😁👏🏻 Keep the videos going please! We are trying to decide which Atlantic province to move to from Ontario. I am running from pollution and heat with a rare type severe asthma ( 8% of pop has it), resistant to all treatments and extreme sensitivity to chemicals and such. I have to be careful of extreme heat and humidity and severe cold. Wood fumes are terrible and I do worry about all the wood heat used out there even in cities. Did you notice a lot in your neighbourhood? This is a one income family and Ontario is killing us financially despite my husband making a good wage. We would like a home which is far out of reach here now. So we are not coming with a nest egg or equity unfortunately. I just want to be able to breathe.
Thank you for your comment. People do still use wood stoves here, and also heat their homes with oil. My only suggestion would be to look for something rural (away from neighbours and industry), or very close to the Bay of Fundy. The fresh ocean breezes have helped Wendy's allergies tremendously, and also moderates the climate to help avoid the extreme heat and cold. Luckily, both of these options (even together) are available here and reasonably priced.
I’ve lived in Fredericton my whole life and it is filled with wealthy, mentally ill idiots, it’s a pretty city though. That big old building is the legislative assembly building, it’s much older than 1880, that stone is just a facade.
thankyou for your videos. I had a little view of my future school nbcc fredericton campus😊 Aspiring international student here. Would love to know if there are apartments near the school just walking distance? Thanks again😊
When I lived in Moncton I also thought of Fredericton as small because I barely went to Fredericton. It looks way better than I thought it is! Why did you guys choose Saint John over Fredericton. I'd be curious on the difference between the 2.
@@wiseman4160 Saint John is bigger than Fredericton, smaller than Moncton. There are tons of restaurants and pubs here, many of which offer love music. Plus we have the many pubs along the boardwalk with a big outdoor stage and live music all summer long.
Hello! I just have to tell you - fredericton isn't a bilingual city; being the capital, the government aspect is bilingual but otherwise it is majority English. Also, you didn't tour the North side which is, literally, half the city ... the "main" campus is just "the campus" which houses UNB, STU and NBCC and there is also the Craft College - which make up a similar amount of the workplace in fredericton as the government jobs do. Also, why only fall and spring and you wouldn't live there in the summer or winter? Furthermore, no students from the universities rent up Regent because the prices are too high. As Realtors you should show what the typical apartment or house is like for students, which tend to be Kings College, Graham Street, Windsor Street or Beaverbook. I enjoy that you toured the city, but please look up more information on it to accurately portray the highlights and details of Fredericton. A lot of the points made are wrong. Also, at the 31:44 mark, to the left if Chalmers Regional Hospital, a lot of people would like to know a regional hospital is there. Finally, where you were downtown on King Street, is not the best way to connect to the highway to get to Saint John, Moncton, etc. Also, The Green is a major focal point for Frederictonians to take the walking bridge and finish off the walk at Picaroons, which is also on the North Side. The city has a million things to offer and this video just didn't do it justice.
You're funny. We don't live in Fredericton; our channel is called We Love Saint John. We also don't get paid, nor do we get anything out of making these videos. The ad revenue doesn't cover the cost of gas to drive up there. There are not many videos of Fredericton with over 30,000 views like this one has, and if you read the 99% of reviews that are appreciative, we will argue that we have done more of a service for the city than most of its residents. We will, however, look forward to seeing your perfect video of the city. Let us know when it's posted.
Hello everyone, i want to move to New Brunswick with my kids, which area is the best for a Family and how is the living cost like, people friendly?, and which area should i stay away from it? i just have alot of questions before i move there, please help...thanks
