Hello, Les and Wendy! As a brazilian planning to go to Canada to study and live, you guys are making me love Saint John! I'm really considering going there because of the way you talk about the city, and what you show on your videos! Thanks!
We have many viewers from Brazil and all over South America who will be coming here to study and live, so you will not be alone. We can't speak to how this area compares to Brazil, but we feel it's one of the absolute best cities in Canada to live. Thank you for watching.
The abundance of those gorgeous brick buildings is nothing short of spectacular 😳 That‘s almost unique in North America, isn‘t it? I hope the Johners keep preserving those buildings, I for one will come visit on my next trip back home.
Thank you 🙏 guys for showing around this beautiful town. We moved from Vancouver islands to Nova Scotia Cape Breton in 2021.and now we are moving to Saint Andrew New Brunswick soon.
I was one of the kids that took off to go live out west.. Came back to Saint John, and love the people here as well as now appreciate, the old buildings. Have you ever heard of a widows walk? At the top of some old homes there is a small window within a small room that sits above the homes roof-line. That was so the wives could watch for their sailor husband's boat to come in..Why call it a widow's walk.. Well many sailors didn't make it home. I live in Rothesay now..Homes are huge and beautiful. You should take the old road to Rothesay, I often meet the tour busses from the cruise ships on that road.. Wourth the drive, and you pass a few marinas, lots of sail boats out on the weekends.. Beautiful!!
Irish is the predominant influence, but overall yes, it's British. They call this the Loyalist city because of the impact the settlers who were loyal to the Crown had here after the American revolution. Wendy and I both have very British backgrounds and this is what makes Saint John feel very much home to us.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn dual citizens here w/ Britain and a very homesick spouse. It's the Maritimes or he will keep on sailing back across the ocean for good!
At 4:10 is so BEAUTIFUL. Princess street I believe you said. And by the way hello 👋🏼 🤗 From Hamilton 😕😣….. I just subscribed to your channel. After months and months of looking to relocate. I stumbled upon St.John, which I’m SO HAPPY I DID. Also really happy that I ran into your u tube channel as you both have given a lot of information I obviously need. Not to mention the street tour is exactly what I’m looking for before I head out to visit St.Johns myself, about a 2 week stay before finalizing my decision. Anyhow, thank you for all the info:) Really enjoying your videos and giggles☺️ lol☺️🌸🌸🌸 the best part!☺️
Thank you Mia, for your wonderful comment and for subscribing to our channel. At 4:10 of the video we were driving on Carmarthen St., crossing Princess. Uptown Saint John is filled with amazing architecture and a wonderful vibe. The whole city is just lovely, and we are so happy you are coming for a visit and considering relocating to this area. The whole purpose of our channel is to provide an outsider's perspective (we moved her 3 1/2 years ago from BC) to people thinking about relocating here that can't find much information about Saint John. You are exactly our target audience. If you aren't already working with a realtor in this area, Wendy would be happy to show you some homes while you're in town. This could give you a better understanding of just how much value there is here in Saint John compared to other cities. You can reach her by email: wendyduggan@royallepage.ca or by phone: (506)607-3095. There is absolutely no cost or obligation involved. We hope you enjoy your visit, and hope someday you will join the many other newcomers who love Saint John.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn you are very welcome. Here’s a note on the city market…if you look at the ceiling, you will notice that is looks like the hull of a boat. They did that on purpose to make it very unique.
Where are you from? What’s your story? We’re relocating to the Maritimes from BC. You seem to have so much enthusiasm for Saint John - it’s very refreshing.
I lived all my life in the Fraser Valley, and Wendy joined me there for 15 years before we moved to Saint John. Getting out of BC and coming to Saint John was the best decision we ever made.
St John is a beautiful place but watch out for the predators in the south in one by the Gary Lee Thorne he preys on children that are addicted to drugs and gains their trust and drugs and rapes them, the problem is he never gets caught because these unfortunate young prostitutes cannot go forward
@@anng7035 Oh, it is really cool. We enjoyed it far more than the BC ferries we used to take, and they have great reasonably priced food onboard too. The scenery is breathtaking and Digby is a very cute town on the Nova Scotia side. It's well worth taking, I just meant I'm not paying the price just to do a video. We do this for free after all.
Amazing video.. my partner and I are from BC but during the time you shot this video we were living in Uptown and this video brings back memories. Just out of curiosity, where in BC are you from? We live on Vancouver island.
@@WeLoveSaintJohn Thats where my GF's family lives! Im glad you're happy in SJ, we enjoyed our stay but I do prefer the west coast in general. To each their own and again great video!
@@CarsonCameronClark Absolutely. Different things appeal to different people. My parents live in Parksville for years. I could live on the Island quite nicely but home prices there are still around triple what they are here.
Saint John is primarily English speaking but the whole province of New Brunswick is officially bilingual. There are definitely some French speaking residents here and all government services are offered in both languages, but you will find more French speaking people in both Fredericton and Moncton.
Yall fall in love with saint john until you have been here for a while. I. From there and I moved away and visit every one and while and it get boring tbh
And that's the truth! I've lived here my whole life! It's because everyone retires here instead of their own province, so the majority of the population is elderly because of it! Every time you see a new building going up its another damn nursing home!
You had your chance. I told you so. What are you waiting for. You knew this would happen. It's not going to get better. What have you got against cheap houses and happiness. Insert high horse lecture here.
