I have just learnt about Danish royal family today, what a genuine lovely people. Wedding of prince and princess was delighful. Not like a spectacle. They love each other dearly it's so obvious. It must be so uplifting to the whole nation. I have to visit one day. Greetings from Poland. 😊
They are the most genuine, beautiful royal couple ever. She is absolutely remarkable. If anyone hasn’t seen it, check out her amazing speech at Frederick’s 50 th birthday celebration. It’s outstanding.
8 years on, they are still husband & wife/Prince & Princess. Most unions don't last that long. This young man is no slouch. He is a member of Denmark's elite military unit (equivalent of the US Navy Seals), and was part of an expedition across Greenland. Few future heads of state can lay claim to such accomplishments. Able to mix with the "quality", and able to mix with the common, and take it seriously. A true son of Denmark; small wonder the Danish are proud of him.
Mary is also very intelligent with a number of qualifications in Law and Accountancy.. She is also a great sports woman ,especially in show jumping. They are very well matched ,which is probably why their marriage works. It is the love story of the century, and to think they met by chance!
Almost 13 yrs now and CPFrederik has proven his love and protection of Mary. A couple in love always.His speech was wonderful and if you people who say Mary didn't show emotion should watch again with glasses.Three cheers for this wonderful family.
She cried at the end of her husband's speech. She also cried at a recent meeting supporting children and young people who have lost a parent early on in life. She spoke of how her Mother had died in 1997 and how it had shipwrecked her life for a while. Her personality is typical of Scottish, and English/Scottish Border people. Quiet and reserved on the outside but with deep inner feelings which they only show to people close to them..
Mary cried during the wedding ceremony ,and so did Frederik. She cried during Frederik's speech ,towards the end.He said recently, My main focus and the foundation of everything I do is my wife ,my marriage, my home ,my children and our extended family

@Aurora Endevour it's more like the danish monarchy is the oldest in Europe. They're technically all related but some of those relations are like 6 generations apart and there's a number of different houses who have sat the danish throne and a lot of kings died without heirs. But I mean, yeah, it's kinda cute that this feud a 1000 years ago ended up becoming a wedding in 2004. Mary's father mentioned this in his speech also, which was pretty cute.
Wow, it seems this man has always been good looking. Even today, at fifty years old he is still really handsome. Princess Mary, also beautiful, has hardly changed from the day of their wedding.
As an Australian, its lovely to see such a wonderful representative of our country on her wedding day. I hope they continue their happiness. She will be a beautiful Queen one day.

Of all the many royal weddings I have seen in the last 40 years televised and on the internet including those that took place in the UK, this one looks most like a fairy tale to me. He seems most like a fairy tale prince and she seems most like a fairy tale princess. It's not due to the trappings but they way they look at each other, the way they hold each other's hands and then as if like teenagers pull back when they realized people are watching.

Complete and utter, genuine class. Complete and utter genuine love. It's all any of us wishes for. No amount of expectation or training, or up bringing can produce that, because that's the real deal. What ever they did, where ever they were, whoever they were, they would be like that. It's who and what they are. Perfect Royal couple? Yes, probably. they don't have to be that, it's ok that they are two seriously well suited people who are genuinely in love and have found each other. As leaders of their country, as examples to their people, Denmark are lucky to have two people who are worth and earn, their role and position and the respect that goes with their position. Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and his lovely wife Crown Princess Mette-Marit is also a love -match. They met at a pop concert and moved in together after 3 months of knowing each other.

Our Royal Family are cardboard cut-outs ,who haqve their interests chosen for them by their courtiers. They live behind high walls ,and do not mix much. William and Kate are stuck in between the old style Royals ,with their extravagent life-styles, and fleets of servants. They need to go to Norway or Denmark after Lock-down ,and learn how to be Danish style Royals in order to save the Monarchy.
They are very, very clever and are justifiably being recognised as world leaders in many areas. Mary lived and worked in Denmark for over a year before they were married. I think if you have lived in a country for awhile your going to pick up on the accent and language quicker then you would through a classroom. She also had a tutor I believe after she was engaged and she had Fred to practice on! I wouldn't be surpirsed if she was able to understand most of what he was saying.

Mary is Scottish and they do not go in for extravagent displays of affection. Watch her before she entered the Cathedral .She held her father's hand vey tightly .At the end of Frederik's speech she was crying, and recently she cried at a meeting for children and young people who lostb a loved one at an early age. When Frederik's grandmother was dying ,she gave him a book which had helped her 3 years previously when her mother died.
She was crying during the Wedding ceremony and so was Frederik. His brother gave him a tissue. These bits were cut out of the films shown in Denmark, Australia and on You Tube !

In February 2022 one can see from the TV interviews and the opening of several exhibitions that Crown Prince Frederik is bursting with pride at what his Crown princess has achieved in the last 20 years. Behind Palace walls Mary has created a very normal"middle-class family " like the one she grew up in , and Crown Prince Frederik adores it and adores his wife and children . Much better than growing up on the 2nd floor of a Palace and never seeing his parents. Prince Joachim, and Princess Marie have also created a similar close-knit happy family.
