I launched my own language learning community on Vibely: app.vibely.io/woutersmultilingualfam/challenges On this page you can find the tier prices and descriptions. Within this community you can join challenges, you can find a language buddy and there is even a polyglot group. I also organize 2 virtual meetings per month! Then there is also a special nerdy tier for the real language enthusiasts, where you get access to my booklets for French, German and Spanish, and I organize 2 live lessons per week.

mandarin is super easy! it has the easiest grammar by far of all big languages, the pronunciation is super easy once you get down tones, and sounds never change (unlike for example in english, the A in apple is different from the A in attack). Yeah, the writing system might be a little complicated, but just learning to speak/listen is super super easy. definitely give it a go

@@deserttrekkie well im a native speaker so i dont really know, but for me, what has been really helpful in learning japanese is first starting with a subject i know well (in my case it was baseball and a board game called go, similar to chess); i can watch japanese shows/commentary on these and basically understand because i understand the games. From there, i first watched a lot of anime/jdrama with subtitles, and eventually moved on to obscure oneas without subtitles. That REALLY helped with my listening comprehension; a single movie i watched basically made me from being able to understand 5% of japanese tv to 50%. @@lawtraf8008 Not well, but I can hear it and read it without really having had any formal training or practice other than a set of cassette tapes I listened to for a couple months in the 1990s before visiting Africa... Other languages like Spanish, German, Russian, and Tagalog I've studied for decades and still struggle to hear them at that level, though I know a lot more words and grammar rules in them. @Mishiki Crisy The grammar is very different...not sure of the technical terminology, but there is a lot of compounding of words and editing of prefixes to match objects and a sentence can be just a few heavily modified base words. It has similarities I think to Arabics and Bantus I think, but with the roman alphabet and literal rules that are followed pretty well.

I’m from Switzerland and over here is very common, we speak 4 languages as a base, then if you come from an immigrant family you got one extra language, if you’re like many of my friends who have both immigrant parents from two different countries you get two more languages, so that’s 6, then many people study Latin in school that makes it 7, on top of that people learn Spanish very easily so that’s 8, add to that dialects and you can easily reach 9. I myself speak: Italian English Swiss German French Somali Arab And Ticinese (which is an Italian Swiss dialect) It’s very common over here, sometimes I like to flex to my American and British friends. After you speak so many languages they become very easy to learn, you can find similar words in each one of them. I also speak sign language, and can say few words in, Portuguese, Turkish, Bosnian and Albanian all learned from my friends.
