Free camping at Labonte Park in Texas is available with a free camping permit courtesy of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation. Located on the Nueces River, Labonte Park offers free camping with 20 RV campsites. All campsites have scenic riverfront views. I have an autographed T-Shirt by Terry Labonte from the year he won the Winston Cup. I met him in the pits at Talledega Alabama Super Speedway.

WoW - At the time of our visit I didn't realize the connection with the park's name. A viewer on RVillage let us know that Labonte was a race car driver from Corpus Christ and donated the land for the park to the city.

I thought that was a nice little park. Not too much to it, but very peaceful. Im surprised it wasnt more campers staying there. Great fishing spot ! I saw that one fish that you mentioned had jumped out of the water, so cool ! I cant wait to dig up some "night crawlers" and hit the lake ! Of course I loved seeing the water fowl. I thought that was a White Pelican across the way, but it was a Brown instead, and the Egret's are always so beautiful. Nice site's too, and easy to pull into. It isnt that far from Corpus Christi either. Nice video. Thanks vicky : )

Okay - Free is good and this park is in a convenient location. You won't believe how many free camping fails we visited that were not video worthy. One free camping area in Texas was fenced in from the public park and was located within a few hundred feet from a shooting range. Not my kind of camping. Will continue our search for the best free camping opportunities out there, and I know you'll review each and every one of them! Thanks Vicky. Lou

@@LivingOurDreamNow.... So sorry to hear about the "free camping" fail's. But, then again, thats why you venture out to check and see how they rate, and if they are, "LivingOurDreamNow" worthy ! And , I will say, you do a fantastic job at doing that too!!
