I like to use half strips so the sets are even scrappier.

Thank you! I try to keep things at a steady pace without going TOO fast - it can be a challenging line to draw. I'm glad you enjoy the pace!

Can’t wait to make this one. I would like to suggest two tips that I use. #1) Open your jelly roll, Unroll the strips, Throw them all in the dryer. Dry on air or very low heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Open the dryer, Clean the lint catcher, Tumble again. You may need to do this 2 or 3 times. It removes all the lint and your strips come out beautifully. I got this tip from Betsy Chutchian a Moda fabric designer. #2) Cut your jelly roll strips in half then pair them up. This works especially if you have a jelly roll that has just a few fabric choices. Some fabric designers have 20, 30 or 40 Fabrics in their line and so you get a nice scrappy look throughout your quilt. But some designers only have 12, 15 or 20 fabrics so sometimes you get a concentration “glob”of the same fabrics in one or two areas of your quilt. This tip does not work on every pattern using 2 1/2 inch strips so you have to read the pattern to see what the cutting directions are to know if this will work. I used this method making Simplicity by Cozy Quilt Designs. My jelly roll only had 15 different fabrics, I cut each strip in half and the quilt came out really great. No globs 😆

Can you please share which lint roller you are using I love that it is a fat one rather than the ones I end up with only a few sheets. Thank so much! Just love your tutorials!!

Hi Cindi, I wish I knew what kind it was. I think it's just a generic store brand lint roller, probably from Target. Nothing fancy!

I love your tutorials and videos. I have tried on so many multiple occasions to get the free printable patterns. So far, I have requested 5 different ones and not one of them has shown up and they are not in my spam mail either. I am so sad about this. Can you help me?

Would it still look okay if the bigger background square is a different color than and keep the white 9 patch ones white?
@HaileyStitches
@HaileyStitches 5 месяцев назад
It might look more like a 9-patch quilt if you go that route but it would still be cute!! Another option would be to change all of the white in my version to color, and change the color to white. That would keep the "chain" look!
