I saw Tom Petty perform this song in Phoenix Arizona in April of 1995! The best concert! Joints being passed around from every direction! I love John Mayers version as much as the original.
I grew up in the valley and frequented Ventura Blvd ❤. This song speaks to my soul ,as a California girl?! Thank you Ed and James ❤❤!! I introduced this song to my children,as they were growing up. Much love to Tom Petty!! Ed and James did justice
They are two of my favorite artists and honestly, this performance is a far cry from John’s performance in LA (Nokia Centre). I am also not sure I like how their voices match, there’s smth wrong there.
I would recognize Eds voice anytime anwhere 🥰 It just has a special sonething. Also, i always want to make a cup of tea and travel to the UK anytime i hear him 😂🙂
People’s are saying they are bad together but it’s honestly the best version of free falling I’ve ever heard. Ofc the non musician’s fail to realize that they were harmonizing so yeah they were singing different notes. Because that’s how that works. Perfect duo! People need to stop ruining others days
"... the best version of free-falling ..." Uh, there is this guy called Tom Petty, go hear that one, then come back here to make amends! 🤷♂️ #sacraligious
@@NoNo-ks4gg chill dude, it’s called an opinion. I love Tom’s version. Who doesn’t? But in MY OPINION, I prefer this version. Have so problem with that? Look up the definition of an opinion and come back to make amends.
As I tried looking up that definition, I came across this quote . . . "It is far better to have people think you are a FOOL --- than to sit down, start typing and remove all doubt." Practice what you profess and --- stop ruining people's day with asinine observations that have even Tom Petty rolling over in his ⚰️! #🤡 #juststupid
Yo sis, give credit where credit is due --- there was another co-writer of this beauty who was pretty prominent himself! #each1teach1 #dontsleep #respect
@@ryanouyang_I'm jealous l didn't get to see this show. They are two of my favorite singers. l saw Ed like 2 months ago and John last year and I'm going to get tickets to see him next month. It'd be a concert dream if Ed opens for John in Dallas!
l have seen them both live more than once, and both are some of the best lives shows I've seen. I'm an avid concert goer. l saw Ed on his first U.S., a few months ago and once in between. l gave seen John 4 times, most recently last year and they are both two of my favorite singers. l think they both shined!
tbh John's voice color is not so easy to sing together with - only certain colors seem to work well (DRH, Tiffany Palmer, etc). And if your voice is more forward sounding like Sheeran or Keys, they in comparison sound "bad" to Mayer because Mayer is more like this mid tone range. My point is, both are fantastic - together, it's little more tricky but im sure if they spent enough time, they'll be able to find that sweet spot.
@jilldoves5793, The ones that think Eddie and Johnny sounded great, don't know who Tom Petty is, let alone his songs. They were awful, not to mention, a great insult to Tom, and an embarrassment to themselves.
Don't get me wrong Ed is amazing and clearly has a stronger voice than John but damn those were poor judgement on those harmonies. Very distracting and killing the vibe. You're suppose to complement not derail and take over the song. Dammit Ed
If you haven't already, you gotta check out John Mayer Free Fallin (Live at The Nokia Theatre) on RU-vid. Acoustic, Mayer with two more guitarists. The Best. 0:01
this might be the worst thing I've seen on You Tube. Didn't see the whole show and sure it was a treat for the fans, but just playing and acoustic v version of this classic with a few inflections is piss poor...no effort to differentiate their version from others, playing totally to the crowd and not even working out a legit proper version is such a let down
