The fuel in that vette looks like deck stain from the 1980’s.

The Vette needs a power wash, then decide about paint, etc. Get in touch with Corvette Ben, he has parts and would be a good resource. Maybe that interior won't be too expensive to fix.

Cross Fire was '82 and '84 only. Recall, the first C4 was tagged as an '84 because it came too late in the '83 model year to be classified as an '83.

I had an 85 back in the day, and honestly the electricals were a nightmare. Chevrolet never could make mine work right. It was forever leaving me stranded. I finally just sold it. I wasn’t wild about the 4+3 transmission either. That being said, this looks like a great adventure for you. Best of luck with bringing it back to life!

Had a flooded car before, trans fluid looked fine, got it running. Drove it around checked again, strawberry in the trans now. Shifts good, feels good🤷🏻‍♂️👨🏻‍🦯

Little fun fact. Midland Florida is great for old cars. I always talk to older folk and younger folk alike, they bring their old hotrods and classic cars down here to ride, because it never snows so no salt on the roads, but even brand new cars can experience rust from the salty winds from the water. So if you love sunshine abd a damn good sunday ride, come on down

So, straight body, complete, running engine. This is a perfect garage project car. I think it looks bad, but just needs a lot of TLC. Seriously, this is a lot better than Ronald Finger's Fiero or the Budget Buildz Porsche 911.

As a 17 year old car guy, I volunteer to take the Corvette, I would love to have a project like that, it has potential, even though it looks horrible 😂

The C4 is my favorite gen Corvette! It's design was ahead of it's time. A challenging project to say the least, but would be highly satisfying to complete...

you have clogged injectors. Had the same thing on a grand national that sat for many years. Take them out and put 12v to them and force carb cleaner through them

Muflers are cloged up from all that swamp water

The Chevy TPI was and is a very aesthetically pleasing engine. The throttle response was incredible also. It made for a very quick and fun car when in the Trans Am/IROC and Vette. Even when applied to the 305.

I just subscribed, I have to see the outcome. I purchased my 85 for a grand and another few grand, some hard work, my baby is sweet and running like a champ....good luck....

My first reaction was no way can this be saved BUT after thinking, no rust repair needed, interior can be replaced from a wreck as well as any other exterior parts. You're biggest challenge will probably be electrical. May actually be doable. There is a GM OBD1 reader available that plugs in under the hood, and they're cheap these days. Avail. on Amazon.

For 1982 and 1984, the 5.7 liter (350 CID) @200HP Cross-Fire Fuel Injection V8 was the only motor found under the hood of the Chevrolet Corvette,i had an 84 and that was the worse car i ever bought!

It would make a good storyline for a horror movie, a Corvette that has a secret murderous anaconda in it lol

It's only running on a couple of cylinders. Pull those plugs, replace them and the wires. After that you are looking at injectors.

That thing is in better shape than most project cars start out. On a vette, first thing is to look at the frame

Now these are the car projects I love, get stuck in and actually get dirty fixing the car up and making it run, that car gave someone immense pleasure over the years as they cruised the highways maybe with their girlfriend, wife kids husband and to let it just sit and rot is soo sad. keep up the good work.

can I just add, folks, safety glasses both look cool and keep you looking lookers intact. Very encouraging to me. I was in the hospital for 3 years and now I have um.. 5? 6? 7 projects no newer than 1998 to work on. My daily is a crisp mint 2001 Accord with a average of 9k a year. It had the risky airbags. So I have 4 carbs to rebuild and a head gasket.. I may need to reduce my inventory liability a bit. Oh wait, I already have a autoauctions account for.. over 3 years at least. They can send me a 1985 Subaru but I already have a spare. . If any of you aspiring YT mechanics want some content, how about a 1985 Dodge Power Wagon that's a little cheaper if you want to rebuild the carb system yourself. Interiour is a bit exterior.

I have no idea if this is a Chevy Crossfire engine or not, but if Nick gave you this car and you thought that this was a joke, it’s only because he knew exactly that this Corvette still had a strong engine potential to it, despite its look and he knew that you were going to make it work again. Just by the look of it, i most certainly agree that this is going to be a great challenge for you, but once you’ve taken care of all the engine problems and once you’ve taken care of all the minor electronic details, all you’ll need to do is to restore the paint job at the Body Shop, with a new sunroof and you can always go and swap those bucket seats, with a fresh pair of new ones inside from a salvage yard somewhere. I mean, for a 1985 Corvette, it shouldn’t be too hard to find another parts car, at your nearest auto parts junkyard. Congratulations! on your work. At least you’ve had it started. ‘cross fire injection’ was in the 1984 corvette. ‘Tuned Port Injection’ came in the Corvettes in 1985 along with 25 more horsepower (as you probably already know by now…being a year later)

Years ago I bought an old, wrecked VW Beetle for $25 strictly for the parts. It had been sitting with a half-tank of fuel in it for 22 years! It smelled like very old spar varnish with a truckload of garlic mashed into it. Surprisingly, after draining it out I poured it out at the edge of a field and struck a match to the puddle-it flamed off like it was fresh premium right out of the refinery!

My 84 Corvette had the Crossfire Injection, I took it off and put a Weiand High Rise with a Holley Street Demon 625 best thing I ever did to it ... It had been sitting in a junk yard for 10 years, i traded a 93 Camaro even up for it. With a new battery and some fresh fuel I drove it home. It was rough but not as rough as that one

Crossfire was used only on the 1982 C3 and 1984. This is the original engine for a 1985. I hope you do restore this car! I’ll watch every step of the way. I have a 1984 that looks a bit better but will need the same type of work.

The 1984 Corvette came with the wretched Crossfire V8. All other model years after that did not have the Crossfire. However, that EFI and its various incarnations did find its way into many V8-powered GMs throughout the Eighties. You dodged a bullet in not getting the Crossfire, that's for sure!

84 Corvettes had the Crossefire from the C3 years. I can tell you what you want to know I've spent time working with one in a C4 . It's just 2 throttle bodies on a flat intake but it's ram air if you have the rubber rectangle gaskets that go to the rectangles on the air cleaner

Its filthy, its crusty, its nasty but it goes to show to not judge a book by its cover. Im impressed with how fast you got it running. What would be really cool is if you could find out its history and how it ended up that way and after you get it done send the previous owner a link to the videos of its resurection and maybe get them to do a video reply to seeing it after its completed...lol
