Dear@Lance Washington Me too (originally at least). 2) Don't know if you know respectively if you are interested but there is a relatively often used "Hey Lance" phrase and even T-Shirts with your name on it at Bus Grease Monkey channel. :-) ;-) Best regards luck and health.
Heck yeah , some of my best memories were taking apart old dietbikes swapping parts and just being taught by someone who in my mind was a master mechanic, before I lost my dad to dementia . Keep your folks close never know when you might lose them.
My hats off to u because your restoring a old bike instead of sending it to the junkyard and because u are doing it with your little boy it's more people like u that this world needs to be a better place so I say great job and great content.
I love the fact that your son loves to turn wrenches screwdrivers and take stuff apart that's awesome most kid they're playing with their phone playing games and you guys don't gripe at each other he loves what you're doing and you love what he's doing that's a son with his dad keep up the great work
@@5150mxVW it's just awesome 5150 but your son is out there with you that means he's going to be just like you but he might get more work done then you have a great night brother and tell Josh he's a movie star on RU-vid!!
That's the best part of this build; spending time in the shop with your son showing and getting him involved with the build. My dad did it with me, now I do it with my son. Nothing like it. BTW you are starting with a more complete bike then I did. I did an '89 YZ125 that was in three tupperware bins.
Funny that you mention head shake and the tight (rusty) head bearings. 85-87 Hondas had HORRIBLE head shake at speed, but carved turns like nothing else on the track. Bike is looking better than I originally though it would. Keep it up! MASSIVE parts list for this project. Get Josh warmed up, and turn on Glendale Supercross!! Triple Crown tonight!!
I use a large philips screwdriver to push axles through. Works a charm, especially for the swingarm when you don't want it all to let go on you. Pound the screwdriver through and the swingarm will "fall" onto it, and then you can pull the screwdriver out to let it go when you are ready.
iLuvNurway Youve gotta be that one guy huh? Yes of course ive watched videos, but i still had to go out and do it myself thats my point. Also there isnt a video for everything some stuff you gotta dive in and just figure it out. You can F$&@ yourself and enjoy your day 👍🏻
Great to see you 2 in action again. Josh has some real manual dexterity going this year. I think there's a noticeable difference just between this year and last. I'm betting the memories you two are forming with these projects will be something you'll both treasure for life.
That crank is going to be a tough one to open lol also great to watch the progress and teaching your kid practical skills will serve him well in the future ✌
I can imagine the power of that bike I had a 390 that had a insane power band . I can't wait to see it rip please don't let dubworks ride it he so close to getting done he doesn't need a injury
fascinating to watch disassembly Jason You are making progress ! great to see Josh working on the carb, I noticed you have a nice ultrsonic cleaner like Musties Thanks for sharing
Do you use JIS (japanese industrial standard) screwdrivers? The difference in grip with the screws is quite amazing. Never again booger up carb bowl screws (among others) on japanese bikes.
Wood shims from home depot lowes etc. Are perfect for splitting cases and prying cause the wood will not damage the surface. Using the shims to clean gasket material off works good too..again wont damage the surface.
@@5150mxVW I still have a vintage 76 Suzuki Tc 185 The revs & sound of a 2 stroke is soo cool. Seen my share of crusty stators. Boats are (can be) a money pit.
put protective gloves on you two and live a long healthy life. Wish my father would have done this with me or even encouraged me to do these things. Both of you are very fortunate, enjoy the day.
Liking the motorcycle content! I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer, so I can get my bike out of hibernation! I have a 1986 Kawasaki 900 ninja..... (Tom cruise top gun movie)
Love the videos man! I’ve always ridden 4 strokes my whole life, well...except my pw80 when I was 5😂 these videos are making me want to start a new project! Keep up the good work👍
Hey man very awesome :) got some work ahead of ya but i think its gunna be a GREAT bike :) ive watched every video on this bike so far and im pumped for ya :) keep it rollin lol i think its great people bringing back these ole two smokers i miss them days :)
Just thought watching you guys working on that bike restoration thought I'd let you in on my restoration adventure, an early 1800s wooden works Terry and Clark grandfather clock movement est 1806 Thats right wooden plates and gears and that has been Micky moused to the max but its up and running 😁👍👍👍👍 Did they have 1/2" screw type hose clamps in the early 1800s 🤔
wow I miss those days with my son when we used to work on my car the good old days now he's all grown married enjoy your time with your son time moves on too fast when you come to see he's asking you for the keys of the car God bless take care
You are a great double act! I guess this project might be ready for when Josh is big enough to ride it ???? Good luck guys, from that geriatric old Yorkshire fart in Ireland.
Dude, you are hilarious! Love the "patina" on the forks! That one is definitely pretty crusty, at least your in it for the right price. Best bet is to find another one and combine the best of the two. Parts for that one will turn into a money pit and you won't get your money back.
When I was young every shop had a wood burner. Now nobody has them anymore. I think it is because the insurance companies have put the kabosh to using them. Too bad. Nothing like coming in in the morning and building a fire on an old pot bellied stove and putting a pot of coffee on top of it. Warming up to the fire while the coffee brews. Even better when you have an apprentice there to shoot the breeze with. Ah ...the old days.
Make sure you deck that head cuz they way you loosened it more than likely warped it slightly..had the same problem with my old cr and put it together and blew a head gasket
@@5150mxVW Doing well enough. Stupid rain still ruining my life plans, lol. But,... Picked up ANOTHER project vehicle back on Monday. Another squarebody chevy pickup.
I expected it to be in worse condition its def restoreable, and hey man the parts you got so far are a lot more parts then I can afford for my bike lol, keep these vids up there awesome
👍👌👏 Good to see that great little petrolhead Josh is well again. This restoration will be for heart and fun only. Also that your son can say that this is the very first restoration project you did together. Good to have that spare bike. Hope the condition of its engine is better so that you are able to make 1 good out of two bad (unfortunately this method isn't possible with humans). ;-) :-) Thanks a lot for making recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck health and wisdom.
Hi CC , thank you , he was cold and tired but hung in there . We have a lot of parts so hopefully it will all come together . Thank you , Best Regards CC
Dear@@5150mxVW Thanks for replying. Aaaww... this shows how much he likes to be and to wrench with you. But although I like to see Josh in your videos very much: He shouldn't help if he is tired and cold, he just had a cold. Love goes over gold and even cold!? :-) ;-) Sincerely yours.
