In this video we're watching a live performance from Free. This band has been fun for us since we knew who they were. Paul Rodgers has a fantastic voice, and the band is so good. We're excited to see this, and hear another great song from Free. Enjoy!

Wow ! that takes me back . Along with Steve Marriott, Paul Rodgers remains as one of the greatest and possibly most under appreciated vocalists in the world wide audience. A great reminder of his craft, can only hope that a new generation watching this will check out more of his work with the superb band "Free"

So I recommended this one, I didn't remember, but I'm not surprised. This just has everything a live performance needs for me, the definition of "feel." That the band was still so young when this was recorded is incredible. Free seemed like everything was in place for them to become one of the biggest bands in the world, but it didn't happen. Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke earned their due in Bad Company, but that band was only a glossy but pale imitation of this.

Such an amazing band. As time goes on I just love them more and more.

One of the greatest track in Rock history. The live version on their Live album is my favorite with the instrumental culminating in a sort of musical orgasm. But this one is fantastic too. The guitarist is Paul Kossoff, maybe my favorite too. His vibrato is unique and could draw tears in some songs. Glad you loved it so much.

Absolute classic from a classic album. I have suggested this for a long time, and would also mention the title track from Fire and Water among others. Great upload.

This is first rate. Free were on the verge of being enormous when they broke up. Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke went on to form Bad Company where they did reach those dizzy heights The bassist, Andy Fraser, died from AIDS a short time ago. I saw him at a small gig at The Railway Venue in Bolton about 8 years ago. A gig that I fondly remember. Incidentally, Paul Rodgers has just released a new album, I think I recommended one of the tracks from it a few weeks ago.

Andy Fraser had AIDS, but he died from a heart attack.

They were so young. They were so good. They were a massive influence on British music and are still held in the greatest of esteem over here to this day. And the guitarist Paul Kossoff had something I've never heard from another guitarist, a sound both sparse and distinctive and searingly intimate. I hope you do more of their stuff.

I think this is the same LP as "Remember" and "Heavy Load". It's a damned fine LP.

'Tons of Sobs', 'Free', 'Fire and Water', 'Highway'...what a fantastic string of albums in just two short years. Everything about Free was right. Paul Kossoff left us way too soon. And, Andy Fraser's bass moves? Really something else. This footage is great...

What a band they were literally teenagers when they did this

And five years later the world would lose Paul Kossoff to a drug overdose, what a horrible loss to such a talented guitarist. He was the poster child of the guitar face. No distortion pedals, no wah wah pedals, no fuzz tone, just guitar and amp. A true artist! Let's not forget how influential Free was to Lynyrd Skynyrd

Paul Kossoff was barely 20 when this was filmed, and sadly he'd be dead 7 years later. What a legacy though.

Paul Rodgers singing Muddy Waters blues is absolutely needed to compliment this on your channel. I think Adam Le Roi Davies agrees 😅

Ned again and thanks for reacting to this classic by the amazing Free. One thing, as a drummer with 50 + years experience, I wanna point out that when people are performing they often make the strangest faces for no other reason than they've dropped control and are taken over by the feeling. I wish I could sit and play looking perfectly cool n handsome but I end up with my mouth agape and eyeballs fixed on some phantom in the corner of the sky, which means " I'm gone" y'know ? I personally thinks it's the worst when bands pout, choreograph affected gestures and overdo it with tricks and fake enthusiasm. Great job as always, sorry my comment is so tardy.

We don't mean to make fun. We've enjoyed artists doing their 'in the zone' face forever. When you're in it, you can't control yourself.

Yea that’s a great track, the bass is just grooving. Not sure if you e ever done The Faces, but I’m sure you would love the cover of Maybe I’m Amazed live at the BBC. It’s just a fantastic raspy bluesy track.

Paul kossoff had a visceral crying sound, fast wide vibratos bending to perfect pitch, strong resolution and nothing noodly and unnecessary. Listen to angus young at his best and see the influence.

And you could see he was having a ball, his head pressed against his amp, trying to make that guitar feedback just right.

Another “ what might have been “ band if drugs hadn’t taken a hand in their destiny. Rogers/Kossof… what’s not to like …. Smooth as spilt gloss paint on a mirror ! … ooh that came out well , it’s a Jay original too , but I haven’t copyrighted it yet so it can be used by others …👀 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Great version of this on ' The Free Story' this is fine apart from the audience sitting there like zombies and the cameras focusing on Paul Kossof on lead when Andy Fraser is playing the shit out of that bass! When 'Fire and Water' the album this was on was released the ages of the band were 17 to 20!!! ' Fire and Water' itself along with ' The Hunter' ' Come together in the morning ' 'My brother Jake ' are just some of the Free tracks I'd love to see reactions to, meanwhile thanks for doing something other than 'All right now'.
