FREE!!! Must SEE and Do at the ALLEGHENY NATIONAL FOREST 

We go camping with our kids in the Allegheny National Forest. This beautiful picturesque outdoor oasis is not much of an oasis when it rains non stop day and night. So come with us as we get out of the forest and into some of Allegheny National Forest's best tourist attraction. There is so much to see and do and our favorite things just happen to be completely Free! This is the Best of the Allegheny's
First on our list is the Zippo Lighter Visitor Center and Case Knives visitor center, in Bradford, PA just north of the forest. The museum and visitor center is a shrine to Zippo. There is a giant American Flag "Old Glow'ry" made our of Zippo lighters. There is also The World Famous Zippo Clinic, where Zippo technicians look over distraught Zippo owners lighters when they fail to work. The company sticks to their company policy "It works or we fix it free." In the museum is also a section of lighters that could not be fixed, like one that was in a garbage disposal and beneath a steam roller. My kids favorite part was watching movies that had Zippos make an appearance like Die Hard, Indiana Jones, and Charlie's Angels.
Our Next stop was to the Kinzua Bridge State Park or the Kinzua Viaduct in Mount Jewett, PA. Built in 1882 the Kinzua Viaduct was the longest and tallest railroad bridge in the world until a tornado tore it apart in 2003. The wreckage is totally impressive and it has become a popular tourist attraction. There is a wonderful visitors center that gives the history of the impressive train bridge and also gives information about the tornado. Once finished with the Kinzua Bridge State Park Visitors Center, guest walk outside to what is left of the Kinzua Train Bridge that has been transformed into a Skywalk. The Kinzua Skywalk lets guests walk out on the railroad tracks and look over at the wreckage bellow. It also gives you a glass floor to walk out on.
Lastly, before we leave we go to the Kinzua Dam. Its located in the heart of the Allegheny National Forest on the Allegheny River. Guests can walk on a small section of the Dam and view the powerful water at it shouts out the dam walls. On the other side their is the Kinzua reservoir or Kinzua Lake that is filled with carp. When we go we love to feed the carp our leftover hotdog buns from the camping trip.
