Hi Jessica, I know I have commented on this bag already but I just had to share my Grammy moment with you because without you my Grammy moment would not have happened. I made this bag for my granddaughter's birthday out of Disney's purple Frozen fabric. She opened it yesterday. She immediately said "Grammy, this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life!" She never put it down the whole time she was here. That is a perfect Grammy moment, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for making that possible! I've never seen a teacher like you. You are an amazing young women. Keep up the great work that you do! My granddaughter and I thank you so very much!
Oh Rona, you're going to make me cry! That's absolutely incredible! You'll never forget that moment, I bet. What a treasure for you both. Thank you for letting me know!
Your bag making tutorials have inspired me to take the challenge to the next step. The tutorials are perfect and make following a pattern so much easier since I am a visual learner.
Thanks Jess for another wonderful video. To be honest I had to watch this video several times because I kept confusing your interior and exterior fabrics. This would have been easier to follow if all outside panels would have been vinyl. Sorry to be complaining, my only excuse is that your tutorials are always so clear, and this one I found muddy. I do want to say thank you for all you do to make your videos so friendly for us newbies. Thanks again for all you do.
The problem I have with you, is I almost buy every pattern you show me!!! I love you and hate you for that reason! 😜. Thank you for being such a good teacher. I have upped my Sewing Game tremendously since watching you, as of October! I am more than happy to watch every ad you have on this channel! Anything to help you grow!
I have had this pattern for over a year and finally dug in last night. I’m halfway through but I don’t think I could have done it without Jess’s excellent video. I hope to finish tonight and can’t wait to see how it comes out. And it IS absolutely adorable. I’m using a soft faux leather and quilt cotton. So far, so good. I am a “confident beginner” and anyone here who feels s/he can’t do it, please give it a try! It’s an awesome pattern to learn with and it’s also a very high-quality pattern, considering that it’s free. Thank you, Jess. I love your teaching style!
Great little bag and a great tutorial. By the way, loved the music. The volume was perfect! So glad I came across this channel. I'm over 70 and still have lots to learn. Thank you. Love your charming personality.
WOW WOW WOW !!! THIS IS SO CUTE! until today I have not seen tutorials like yours so perfect. I love that it explains everything perfect and simple but what I like most are your designs and that you show all the materials you work with. My regards to you! Hasta hoy no he visto tutoriales como lis tuyos tan perfectos. Me encanta que explique todo perfecto y simple, pero lo que más me gusta son tus diseños y que muestres todos los materiales con los que trabajas. Mis respetos para ti.
Thank you for such kind words! I hope these videos inspire you to make all the things! ¡Gracias por tan amables palabras! ¡Espero que estos videos te inspiren a hacer todas las cosas!
Love how you take your time and show each piece and how to sew it. I am new to making bags, I appreciate the low music and not a lot of “fast” speed ups this makes it easier for me to pause!
Always such GREAT tutorials!! For a visual learner, it makes things SO much easier! Thank you so much for taking the time to walk us through this. Thank you also for the indepth supply list. There are so many on-line resources that I get totally confused and being a beginner, it's hard to determine who has the best stuff.
I just completed this bag and, although it is somewhat of a beginner bag, it kicked my butt! My first bag and sewing on vinyl. Finally adjusted my tension, changed to teflon feet, used a hump jumper, had to redo the snap tab, but I did it! The top stitching is not the best and I had to make some changes to accommodate the thickness, My granddaughter loves it however. I shortened the strap to a shoulder strap and it looks so cute on her. Thank you so much, Jess. It was a real challenge, but I already look forward to my next bag with my newfound knowledge.
Congratulations Linda!! This can definitely be a doozy, depending on your materials and comfort level at the machine. But isn't it just the most wonderful feeling when our loved ones appreciate what we make?? You learned so much!
Someone may have said this but I just put scotch tape on the bottom of my presser foot and it goes over the vinyl great! Also, when birthing the bag, I take a hair dryer to the vinyl or iron your board then remove iron and hold vinyl on it. Makes vinyl very pliable.
Have to say I loved watching you make this bag, the sheer joy you get from your finished products always puts a smile on my face and I can wait to get started making my own bag. Thanks for the video; you are a true maker!
Haha every time I finish a bag, it feels like the first time. You know what I mean? It's just such a joyful surprise to see what I made with just some fabric and thread (and a few angry words... sometimes). It means the world to me to hear that these videos bring you joy. Thank you!
The bag is adorable!! I love your videos! I learn best by watching/listening, and you make it look possible for everyone to make. Thank you for sharing your talents!! 😊
Hi Jess, I'm a small purse user and that is so adorable... I've already grab the free pattern and will definitely make one for myself and granddaughter's upcoming birthday.. thank you so very much for all u do and ur so FAB..!
Hi! Thank you so much I couldn’t have done this without you I just finished the bag and I love it so much!! Even though it looks small it fits more than you think! Thank you so much for the amazing instructions and videos! 👜🧵💕
I made this one before your video came out and I had so many problems keeping the steps straight. I have two more to make and will be following the tutorial. Thank you
Hi Jess , I got the pattern and actually made it !!, am what you call a beginner sewing on and off for over a year now, I was a bit sceptic when you said begginer friendly, because of the curves, I've never done curves before always avoided anythng with curves, but am happy with my bag , I watched you step by step and found it easier than i thought I even did the the topstitch on the exterior main panel that goes around the front panel !! thank you for such a great video
That's fantastic Suzy!! Congratulations! I totally agree, I stay far away from curves normally. But man they make the bag look SO nice! You're unstoppable!
This video was amazing!!! Love the bag! You are the cleanest, neatest seamstress ever girl! I’m too afraid to attempt this but maybe one day, ONE DAY....I will try it?? I sure want to! Thank you so much for this!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🥰
Thank you so much for this really great video. Maybe not the biggest fan of the bag but i Just watched it because you explain everything so wonderful and your enthusiasm is contagious
Awesome...that’s so cute!! In a hurry right now, so will continue watching later!! I’m going to make this for sure, I’ve been looking for a new small bag!! Carol from Arizona 🌵✌🏼
Just love this. Right now I’m making bags for the St. Jude auction, sew this is a must. I’m going to make a mommy and me. One normal size and 1 larger size. Thanks for the heads up. Do love the videos. You’re doing a great job.
Your a Fab teacher! This may be my first bag when I get a chance. I'm challenging myself with masks and a small order of scrub hats at the moment! 💕 Thank you 💕
Howww quede completamente enamorada de tu trabajo . Entre En la página para adquirir los moldes espero que me los envíes estoy muy ansiosa de recibirlos Muchas gracias .Un beso desde Argentina .
This is a really cute bag. One thing, I also have a Bernina and the Teflon feet. I was advised when I bought my Teflon foot that it should only be used on vinyl or sticky fabrics. Using it on cotton makes the Teflon coating come off. Unfortunately, I have had that experience. Otherwise, great video. Thanks!
Very pretty with the sparkle white vinyl. You did a great job! I’ve got so much fabric that this would look great in. Thanks Jess! Need a matching mini wallet to go with it!
Love your enthusiasm!! It’s catching. Thanks for a really great instructional vid - super! Your rivets look fab! Will get some vinyl tomorrow. 💕 Thanks again.
Great video and you make it easier to understand the process of putting this bag together. I would love it tho if you could also show making a bag NOT in vinyl!
Hi Jess - thanks for another great tutorial. I am finding myself a bit irritated that my very expensive Husqvarna Viking doesn’t offer as many Teflon coated feet as standard options but I’m definitely going to search for something that will work. Have a great day!
I love the way you explain the steps to making any project. So detailed, I enjoy watching your tutorials. How long did the bag take to make, cutting the pattern included?
I love all your informative tutorials ! I was hoping that you could produce an Anti theft cross body bag/purse. I understand they are very popular and I would love to have the pattern. Any chance you would be able to sew one up for us?
Hi Jess. Just watched your tutorial on making the Dollie Mini Crossbody. May I ask where you purchased the copper rivets. No one carries these. I've looked on all the websites that I could find that sells rivets and none sell copper. Thank you for your awesome bag making tutorials!, You are so inspiring.
Really enjoy all your videos and I'm having a go at this pattern You mention using a microtex needle for this project. Do you use it regardless of the fabric you are using, or only when sewing the vinyl fabric?
Hey girl! First I want to say that you have the most helpful, detailed videos and the greatest point of view. I would also like to know if you would tell me how to order the metal name plates? I was told Alibaba, but I go in there and its like 😳. I have no idea how to actually order. Do you have any suggestions?
Jess, I’m placing an order to mypunkbroidery for the black mirror vinyl. I would also love to order the white glitter that you have in this video. Do you know which one this is so I can order it also. Thanks Jess as always love your videos. Your upbeat energy is infectious. I’m always smiling while watching your videos.
Hi Jess!!! I just love this mini cross body by Swoon!!! I loved it so much that I've made 3 of them...so far!😁 Your thorough instructions got me through the process of cutting so many pattern pieces including interfacing and fleece. What I did especially liked was no zipper!!! Thanks again for the exceptional guidance. May I ask if you've ever made the Vondenza crossbody?
Great video, instructions very clear. Was interested you use only one layer of vinyl for accent panel. Pattern says two and sew together. Does the one layer edges stay flat, edges don’t curl after time. Thanks.
Love it, as usual and may get a little brave and make this one. Can you do a tutorial for the Vintage Mabel bag? I love all of the Swoon Vintage collection, but I figured I better start really small. Thank you.
Love this video it explain a lot ,could you do a video about the Blanche barrel bag by swoon? I would like to see your vision. Your very neat in your sewing.
Could you make video tutorial for " Fun Bobby Backpack" from Sincerely, Jen please. I need you to show how to make it, tips and trick. I saw others made the video tutorial but I couldn't understand them like I understand you. Thank you.
Jess...what color is your vinyl in the video..the link is for Black Patent..I really like the white ...Barb..I am a new viewer...but totally a fan another great video.
You caught me Barb! I forgot to link it. It's the White Geo Glitter Roll : mypunkbroidery.com/epages/726ea0ec-336f-4ce5-a3e0-1548ce35ebd4.sf/sec86f6b9e2bb/?ObjectPath=/Shops/726ea0ec-336f-4ce5-a3e0-1548ce35ebd4/Products/1GEOR
Great video! I wish my machine had the same Teflon zipper foot option! I have a Husqvarna Viking Epic 985Q and I don’t see that option in my accessory list. Bummer.
There are a few other options. I've read you can take a piece of scotch tape and tape it to the underside of your presser foot. Kind of a DIY silicone foot. I haven't tried it, but it's worth shot!
