It's baffling to me, BAFFLING to me, the sector of people who have by FAR contributed to this country the least of anyone somehow seemed to have magically invented and created everything. Why do so many people think that Blacks were "original" cowboys? The cowboys that we all know were out West (or at least past the Mississippi at the time). Black people couldn't have physically been out West to bear a culture with such an origin. Sure, there were some black people who were in the old West (we're talking 1880s) but BY FAR they were in the East, and would have migrated North to the urban cities, and not out West. I'm not saying that there were blacks who weren't tending to small subsidence cattle herds in the East (like Virginia, NC, etc), but those were not what we call cowboys, nor did they exhibit what we would consider the cowboy culture (like the 10-gallion hats, spurs, chaps, etc.).
Nobody thinks that black people were the original this, that, whatever else they're claiming to be this week. People just humor them. For some reason being patronized isn't offensive to them at all - telling the truth seems to set them off though. (Just the democrat ones).

Country music basically came out of Irish folk music. Southern settlers were majority Irish, Scottish and Welsh immigrants and all southern culture is an evolution of that. Thomas Sowell, a black man, is highly knowledgeable of American culture and has said that most of "black culture" is inherited from these southern white cultures

Ant, I'm Spanish and we had cows and horses even before the Romans invaded us. That's more than 2000 years. No black people in Europe back then. I myself took back and forth cows from home to the mountains so they could eat grass. My mother's people are called vaqueiros in Asturian dialect, which means vaqueros in Spanish, which means "people who deal with cows". So all this stuff is laughable to me, the ignorance of these people.
