In the past I have always rebuilt the carbs but now the new ones cost about the same as a rebuild kit. So now I would buy new carb as it saves time and reduces human error. Thanks for the video especially about the bubbles going back to the tank.

Those types of carburetor are known as "rotary carburetors". They are said to be a high quality of carburetor which is why you find them on higher end machines/models. I always given them a good blast in the ultrasonic cleaner. (Often 3 or 4 30min cycles). All of these little 2-cycle cube carbs are PITA due to the near microscopic channels and orifices housed in the body of the carb. The reason why the machine sounds weird is because there is no implement attached so the motor is not ruining under load. When tuning the carburetor always make sure the trimmer head has the line extended as far as it will go before getting trimmed by the guard. This will put a load on the motor in order to tune it correctly.

Did you know Walbro are now selling ethonol resistant primer bulbs? the only downside is they are black so you can not see if theres fuel in them.Also the barrel type of carburettor has hidden adjustment screws in them, But to answer your question, it is probably better to just replace the carburettor if you can pick a new one up cheap. I have replaced the diaphragm,and it did not work, re stripped and ultra sonic cleaned and reassemble and fitted the carb, still not running right, so replace with a new one, so i ended up removing and refitting the carb 3 times, as opposed to just repacing it from the start. But you never know a $2.00 diaphragm, might have got the machine going again, as opposed from spending $15 on a new carb.

@@HomeGaragechannel how do you access the gearbox and would red lithium high temp work?
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 2 года назад
there's a bolt on the side of the gearbox by the trimmer head, but for the throttle cable, needs something like WD40, or a very light Oil

If my success rate with that model carburetor was 50/50 I would just get a new carburetor but I'll take the old one apart just to see what the old girl's problem was 😉

yes that's a decent plan.

Replace it. It’s not worth trying to fix. Hey question, what do you do with all the junk/parts machines that you get?

I keep them for parts or a possible rebuild

I have the same model, and it is kind of crappy. It has never ran right, always is hard to start, and the attachments shift around a lot.

I noticed that too about the attachment. Sad to hear that it happens to all of them.

I have a Ryobi RY253SS and like it a lot. I’ve never had engine problems but I also use trufuel gas from a can and I own a bunch of Ryobi attachments and they never shift around. Maybe your Boom Clamp Assembly is loose or something as it’s the part that connects the attachments to your power head.

the very first thing once the Ryobi starts "acting up"....DUMP the ethanol unleaded gas!!!!! then....go to a gas station and purchase a gallon of NON-ETHANOL gas.....then purchase or add (if it came with the Ryobi kit)...that 2.6oz of oil with fuel stabilizer......mix that hocus pocus solution up.....then add THAT to the empty Ryobi tank...... Then lower the arm to "run" first....and hold onto the accelerator with your other hand....all this after priming that bulb approx 10x......and crank the engine 5 times, you hear that? it wants to start.....so then position the arm to the neutral (1/2 way)....then pull again........WALA!!!!! then, position that arm totally to let the engine run!!!! I think if it wasnt for my coworker suggestion, Id probably be killing my motor on my Ryobi....

@@HomeGaragechannel Can you truncate your narrative down to 10-second snippets? I realize it won't be cinematic. However, you'll cut production down to a few minutes. You'd only need to edit 90-seconds of footage on average instead of 10 minutes-worth, which is insane.

get a compression tester from your local autocrats store, remove the spark plug and screw in the tester. Squeeze the trigger and pull on the rope, about 10 Times and see what gauge says on the tester.
