Isn’t it weird that to thank a AI algorithm? Be really weird it said you’re welcome back. Want to really mess with it? Go from this to Taylor Swift. Ha Ha😆😝🤣
Every time I try to concentrate on Koss’s masterful guitar playing, Frazier comes in hard on the bass, and his funky beat takes over every time. Oh, how I love these guys.
The energy they produce on that clip could power a small town for a fortnight! No solo from Koss but look at his amended chord structure and the plaintive sound - masterful.
In fact, the music is so ,uch better than the lyrics. Not better, mind you, than Rodgers singing but better than yet another cock rock set of lyrics. Again, the sound of these 3 players and Rodgers singing just doesn’t date.
@@paulcherry8742 Most underrated band would be Monster Magnet. They can't even play in the U.S. because they're so underrated, they have to tour Europe.
@BillZappasodi Free had a HUGE hit with All Right Now that was played constantly on the radio. They sold more than 20 million albums & 45s total worldwide. They were very much appreciated, not underrated.
@@harveyplantharvester1502monster magnet lol, I’d argue wicked lady, leaf hound, the groundhogs are all way more underrated if we want to speak that technically
I went to their first gig at the Nag's Head Battersea,Sappho(Alexis Korner's daughter) said to me, come and see this band, they should be good.So we did.Her dad was there of course,he got the band together.Small venue, packed with people in the know, record execs and a few regulars. They wowed everyone, the rest is history.Great band.
Saw Free at Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, in the 70's. They were on a bill with Deep Purple and Manfred Mann....they blew everyone away. Great band, best vocalist I've ever heard in live performance. Held the audience of 30,000 to the point where they didn't want them to stop. Permanently etched as one of the best concerts I've ever attended.
..yeah, I read about that all those years ago. Apparently Mr Big, was the sealing testament to their stage presence. Couldn't believe they outdid Deep Purple. Well done Aussies, we never got to see a bar of that tour in NZ.
Saw them twice back in ‘69 and ‘70 an outrageously great live band. Of all the bands back then I saw if I had a time machine it would be them I would go back to see. As for Rodgers you can chuck them all at me Plant, Mercury any of them he’s the greatest singer and front man of them all.
Agree. He's been an "S" tier vocalist for decades. He's been consistently excellent and to think he's somehow not in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame is the biggest joke.
About the same timing that Free was a favorite of mine,Humble Pie was also . what a great time to be born and get into music. I believe that we were very lucky because we had some of the best music ever to be raised with😳👀😁
@@johngossett6605 Yeah I love the Pie too. I don't put many other vocalists in that upper "S" tier with Paul, but Steve Marriott definitely belongs there too. Definitely one of England's all-time greatest.
Really excellent live version of The Stealer. Despite the sterile television studio atmosphere, they were in the groove. This is like three-something minutes of proof that when these guys were locked in and feeling that X factor, no band could touch them.
@@robertosborne7542 Yeah that's a common theme with these old video clips. Usually the audience is just sitting there like they are at an English lecture..lol. However, there are some kids dancing in this clip, and that always helps people get into it. I think it also has to do with television cameras. I think people are naturally guarded and more shy when that red recording light is on. Especially back in the day when people weren't used to being filmed all the time like they are now in the social media era.
I'm infactuated with Paul Rodgers he has such a unique voice A few years ago he suffered two strokes and for six months he couldn't talk thank God he's okay now a very blessed Man ❤
Oh wow. I didn't know that happened to him...but then again he is not your average notorious rock star. So glad he is ok. Now I'm worried about him, crap.
Greatest blues'rock vocalist EVER Mr Paul Rodgers and the greatest blues'rock band EVER FREE with the brilliant bass playing of Andy fraser the rock solid drumming of Simon kirke and the genius of Paul kossoff on his Gibson Les Paul
I had to check this out.....thought I'd left this message 😅 Lol onevof my sister's had some terrific vinyl so l was listening to these, The Faces, Traffic etc while my mates were screaming for Donny Osmond, Bay City Rollers and David Cassidy 🤢 For me this bloke has the sexiest voice. Ever 🥵❤ From another 64yr old Nan😊
Amazing, probably the most under rated and under appreciated Band every. Free should have been massive. So young and such talent. Fantastic clip, thank you.
@@jamesw4895 I just watched your recommendation. Fantastic. I pretty sure I’ve got all the Free albums. But not had a turntable for years. Time to go shopping I think. Thanks buddy.
I first heard off free off a mate at work when he let me hear fire and water album that was in 73 they hadn't long broke up but I was hooked after that wasn't a fan off tons off sobs but free fire and water highway free at last and heartbreaker and free live were just ace🎤🎸🎸🥁
At 16/17 odd you are too young to fully appreciate how lucky you are, but saw them also at Isle of Wight in 1970 as well, but not so close up! @@brucefreifeld4763
"I went down to the centre of town And my feet was a burning ground She stood on the corner merrily as can be I said hey good lookin won't you come with me She said yeah I am the stealer Came to steal your love The sun was shining The world was right I said "tell me baby wha'cha doin' tonight" I'm goin' round the corner Where the music's loud I'm tired of the city Won't you come on round I said yeah! I'm the stealer Come to steal your love Steal your love oh yeah! Nothing has greater emotional impact than the rawness of a live analog sound: drums, bass, guitar and vocals.... a poker of instruments coordinated to expertly fill all your needy rock gaps. 🤘🏻😎 Fuck yeah!
Hugely talented band from way back when music was original and unique!!! Great ol clip. Very nostalgic for me. Really LOVED this band. Also Bad Company. Such fabulous music.
These early performances: One thing about FREE was that their “sound” , LIVE and otherwise, was pleasing to the ears. By that I mean , you don’t hear muffled guitar or bass tones, the drums sound very well tuned (which is one thing I’ve always noticed about Simon Kirke in FREE & Bad Co.- his drum tuning and sound has always sounded so ORGANIC- very close to John Bonham’s signature sound/tone) - of course Paul’s voice was always spot on . If you think about it , that is a hard thing to do initially on its own , but as a professional band - back then - it was a must , because playing live , there weren’t all the sound conditioning techniques or technology there is today: it was raw , live playing. And that’s really how a true Rock band should sound: natural and not overly produced or unrealistically mixed with effects etc.
A real solid tight band, well tuned in together. Rodgers voice a soulful rocker, love his voice, one of the greats. They so good live, total live act. Made great albums as well.
Great quality recording- and glad some of the kids could move around & dance cause audiences on these tv shows always look uncomfortable or scared stiff! I love Paul in any of his bands...his vocalizations give me shivers! Free took the English Blues, hammered them down and then rocked them. Somethin' like that. 💙
I miss real rock and roll bands. The kind of bands who worked the songs out on the road and walked into the studio hit the record button. These guys were the real deal.
These guys started FREE as KIDS - TEENAGERS! But they had such a MATURE sound! If you didn’t know their age and only heard them on their records, you’d swear you were listening to a band of rock veterans who’d been writing music and performing together for decades! These 4 were INCREDIBLE NATURAL musicians. Especially Paul and his vocals. Singing has always come so natural & easy for him. His add-libs are so instinctual! A couple other singers with an obvious natural gift for vocals are Canada’s Burton Cummings of “The Guess Who” and the late Glen Campbell of Arkansas USA.
Just stumbled on this a few hours after it was posted. What a great start to the day. Looks like they were all really enjoying themselves here. Anybody got a time machine I could borrow?
Always been a fan of Paul Rodgers but never saw this clip or heard the song before holy crap Batman this was freaking awesome that Baseline was so funky everybody was on fire here s*** I wanted to get up and start dancing with the audience freaking awesome! He should incorporate that in his shows when he tours now this is a great tune!
