I tell ya for me personally the best selling point is Matt's off road recovery. I always try to look for what no bs people use when it's for their work. Over the years it's served me well to see what professionals actually use in their work. Thanks for putting in the time and work to design this setup!

doing recoveries every day, I can confirm 100 percent, people go unprepared and don't have tree savers shackles, or a snatch block all the time. We constantly run into situations where a suctioned truck tried to single line to a tree and snapped their line. Where if they just used a block they would have came out

I gotta say, I’m a believer! As a professional Safety Officer and former Flight Paramedic, , I can honestly say, this is absolutely the safest way to winch! I have personally seen the aftermath of winches gone wrong. Thank you for making it more affordable. I do wish you could lower it a bit more, just so more people could afford it because its that good! but.. I totally understand the cost factor. I’m saving up for one as we speak….. once I am able, Im buying it!

@TRD Pro's why do you think we have tree savers?? Notice the scar he put in the tree? Tree savers are min 3" wide. This is just a gimmick for him to make money. It isn't any easier or faster than having the right setup. My credentials are having been offroading for the past 20yrs and have taken 4wd recovery classes as well as 4wd101 and 202 classes. They all make it very clear. Then here comes a youtuber with zero credentials and everybody buys it.

Tree savers are such a weird concept for someone from ND. Our state tree is a telephone pole... But seriously, I wish we had trees to help winch out of situations. 9 times out of 10, its winter, you are stuck in snow and your tree is the neighbors 3/4 ton.

I just found out about these "tree savers" and it got me thinking about all of the other ways to use that strap for vehicle recovery. It would probably work just fine wrapping it a couple of times around an axle or anything solid, and not have to work about pinching hydraulic lines or cutting into soft aluminum parts. I know that without the factory towing eye, there's nothing to hook onto without doing some body, bumper or fender damage on my Mercedes, and it's usually buried under heavy DJ speakers and equipment that would have to be unloaded in order to get at it. That's not always favorable in bad weather, at night or on the side of a busy highway without a break-down lane, (or all three) so having one of those would really come in handy to get it pulled up onto a trailer; not that it's ever happened to me because of a failed fuel pump or anything - twice in one month... Call it a "Fml saver".

I tied my winch line very similar to the way you have you can DIY this if you know what your doing. I am happy to see you selling shorty versions for people who don't know how. As a replacement rope your new price is not bad at all. No one should be using hooks or those aluminum thimbles anymore; Dyneema/Spectra/HMPE has made them all obsolete. Always use a tree saver, damaging the inner layer of bark (phloem & cambium) of a tree is deadly. In logging notching, ringing, girdling or barking is used to kill a tree and leave it sanding to dry for later harvest.

Oh, and on the fair lead concept, don’t worry about the removable piece ( I would just throw that in my glovebox), instead just put a hooked slot to feed the line into and then the ball at the end will cinch up against that tight. By the way, you should add a rope ball at the end of the removable piece so you can use it as a soft shackle in a pinch. If it did, I would get a second one in order to have a working backup….
@beam3250
@beam3250 Год назад
Interesting update. The knot at the end is a big step forward. I would only use the knot combined with the soft shackle. If needed you can combine that with a strap. So I do not see the use of the three more holes one the rope. That just makes it weaker. More versatile but not my need. Another point: you have to make it as simple as possible. For the guys who are only familiar with hooks. And there will be a time another guy has to help with your own winch.

Love this product. I’m using a factor 55 loop guard (so I only have the loop and no other device at the end for use) plus soft shackles. Will definitely consider this when I replace my line as this is even more simple than my setup ( I always worry about losing the loop guard when I take it off for use of the winch). Really cool, sometimes the best innovations are just taking that next level of simplification. Great job.

- missed this last year... going viral all over again ??? glad you got around to using a douple-eye'd toggle loop for the "shackle" - user upgradable, replaceable, repairable, etc.. Personally I reckon a simple locked eye is more general, I can always tie it into a BFK any time I need to slip a shackle end (or toggle loop) over or under any securing object - back to BFK/Eye.. (an extreme bury - 2.5m / 8-9ft - with a couple of extra sliding eyes - double brummel lock the outboard end of every eye, not a silly idea.) Great stuff... Several midpoint eyes are also - dabomb, though these too can be inserted into the line as needed, no patents need be filed, sailors sorted these things out a long time ago - back in windjammer days, and before.. (some spare AMSTEEL 11mm - or ultimate haul line - is useful for making shackles, split lines, etc...) (how strong are the in-rope eyes?? - ok full line strength - as the whole terminal line is doubled - including the half brummel locked splits...)

Pretty cool👌. Can we get these downunder ? I can see a use for for a soft mounted winch on a offroad sidecar (would be similar to the side by side setup ) for a up coming trip that would equal or go beyond some of the recovers you showed 😁

Hey Matt. I would love for you to do a video of bush craft trail survival skills. Start the series with the infamous flip flop winch. Have a few other ideas for you too.

@@bleepinjeep dang. how did I miss that? Anyway I have a cool idea for y'all. I have a 1994 volvo 960 that looks just like a cherokee. (more or less) I wanted to fix it up and put it on a 4x4 frame but I don't think I am going to be able to. You should get it and make an chimera-kee out of it. I really like the car but it would be awesome to see what you guys could do with it. thanks

I would love to have the new Freedom Winch Line 3.0 for all the reasons provided but the price is just to far out of my price sensitive budget. So, I’m stuck working with a less safe alternative to have a recovery capability.

Why dont you just put the treesaver around tree and the soft shackle thru the loops in the treesaver.
@MrMrsregor
@MrMrsregor Год назад
marketing ... (and one less thing to have to get out during a recovery. however, if it was mine, i'd still use a treesaver)
@krover01

Because then he couldn't charge you a bunch of money for something you "need". The fact is ta tree saver is wider for a reason.

Could you come out with a video on how to repair the freedom winch line. Like to add the loops to broken winch line?

I agree it's an awesome product, but will all I have and it works, it's hard to change it all up. I am how ever interested in the add on piece, But you didn't mention the cost of it. And another thing, I am disabled, and I don't have good use of my hands as far as dexterity. I'd have to find someone to put that on my existing winch rope.

@@bleepinjeep I'd like to see a video on how you suggest attaching it to the winch drum if you ever get around to it.
@bleepinjeep
@bleepinjeep Год назад
already taken care of that for you. If you follow the link to the purchase page on the website and click on the installation instructions it takes you to a video. I think that might have been version 1 or 2 but same premise.

Picked up my extension at the wrecker games. Splicing in to the existing line was easy. Haven’t used it yet, but glad I have it. BTW, filmed on Walden’s Ridge?

Hey Matt @bleepinjeep, love the innovation! Curious on your demo line shown in the video as it shows a lot of fraying. Roughly how many uses have that line seen (or if you can give an expected life of the line? Fully aware our miles may vary if we just throw it across rocks or run over them). With that kind of fraying, I personally would've replaced it, but is that line just for demo purposes? Also curious how long have it been on Matt's Recovery's movair for?
