Here's a jet I've been wanting to fly for a long time - the Freewing F-35 70mm! Just got it set up with differential stabilators, flaperons, stab and flaperon servo upgrades, and a full suite of control authority stabilization mixes on my Spektrum IX20SE and AR8360T. The jet needs some tail weight to balance correctly, even with the 4000 Smart battery shoved all the way back as far as it can physically travel. It flies great - I can't wait to release the agility testing video this week. For now, enjoy the maiden!

I just purchased one off MotionRC because of YOU! Look at what you made me do, lol. The only plane I've ever flown is when someone threw me the transmitter while they had their P-51 in the air at the park because they thought I knew what I was doing because I was flying my T-Rex. This was about 10 years ago. This is going to be a cold turkey nose dive into planes, and straight into the F35. I have confidence in myself, but I'm still nervous about having such expensive FOAM in the air. I'll cut my teeth on this before I get the Lanxiang YF-23 ($500 from china). You present this hobby in a way that looks attractive to new comers. Wish me luck!

Thanks to YOUR channel, I've started doing MORE mixes on my aircraft! I re-maidened my FMS Moa Sunday. It liked to land a bit hot, stock. I mixed flaperons and spoilers. I'll know tomorrow (wed) how better it is!👍🤞

Nicely done, my flying buddy Brad has this jet and it’s a sweet looking flyer, I agree with high expo on a bird with lots of control surface authority, makes for a less dramatic reactive flight experience 👍
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 года назад
Thanks man! Expo is where it's at for a lot of models. Not sure why so many people seem adamant about flying them with no expo and very little control authority.
@DeucesWildRC
@DeucesWildRC 2 года назад
I don’t understand that either, maybe they haven’t flown a Plane with full flying stabs and experienced pitch sensitive jets, most who do use expo understand it’s less work to appropriately flare without over correction

I'm a new subscriber to your channel, I have watched two videos and they were wonderful. I like the way you describe everything while flying, and actually during entire video. I'm new to the hobby of rc airplanes, and I'm trying to gather all the information I can about flying. I was given a HobbyZone Sportsman S + and I don't have anyone in the area to fly with, so I'm hoping to be able to learn the basics without destroying my airplane .

Glad to have you aboard man! It's a fun hobby to be in. The more interested you are in aerodynamics, the better your flying will get - you'll understand and appreciate why the models fly the way they do and will be able to get more out of them.

Very nicely done. I've heard it affectionately referred to as "Fat Amy". It has interesting handling characteristics, but you make it look like a fun jet. Looking forward to the agility testing video
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC 2 года назад
Because of its lack of weight and high T/W ratio, it slides around turns with power using the throws I've given it. You'll love it - it looks very reminiscent of the full scale in power loops.
@paulbellas8797
@paulbellas8797 6 месяцев назад
The real plane is called fat Amy because many of the pilots transitioned from f-16’s to the f-35. The f-16 would be a f-1 little and light made to rate dogfight and is still one of the best dog fighters to this day. Fat Amy on the other hand is actually very maneuverable but not in lengthy dog fights. It loses too much energy. But it is not really meant for sustained dog fights as these rarely happen and modern off bore-sight missiles make merging with an adversary a near death sentence for both involved. Regardless, comparing the RC f-35 to the real thing is pointless as the p2w ratios are way different.

Get a floor tile scraper remover and scrape all that grass growing in the cracks of your runway man. Easy peezy! Not much of a runway, so you have to make the most of it. I've flown mine only once and it was a very gusty day. Can't wait to fly it again this season here in AZ. Too fricken HOT in the summer. EDFs don't like hotness!!!!

Thanks, Richard! This is leaps and bounds better than anything I've flown at before, including "club" sites that want $150 to fly off barely manicured grass or $125 to fly off a 300ft long paved runway. I get this airport to myself for the low price of free and just have to watch out for occasional full scale traffic. I really enjoy it, personally.

It's the flagship transmitter that Horizon sells - I don't see it going away anytime soon, nor do I see them doing anything but planning nice quality of life improvements for it on RCGroups. I personally love it - it was worth the $2k I spent on the special edition. If you're considering getting one, let me know any specific questions you have and I'll go over it for you. I also have a link you can purchase it from if you'd like to support my channel at no cost to yourself: tinyurl.com/IX20Transmitter It really does almost anything you need it to do and there's enough channels to work with any receiver that Horizon sells. It's also lightning quick, too, and so much easier to program and get more out of versus the DX/NX series radios.
