rentrer: in theory, it is not only entrer 'again', but also entrer 'back', for example after a walk the 'right' use is "rentrer à la maison" ("entrer" here would just no work). As for using rentrer in other situations (like illustrated), it is technically incorrect indeed, but I had to check the Academie Francaise site to be certain... as a native speaker, I could not decide. In any case, it is just very commonly used and I'd say it even sometimes 'sounds' better without being able to describe exactly why, maybe a question of rythm, since it forces an additinal syllable in the sentense (?). I feel the difference between ajouter and rajouter is a bit stronger (i.e. I would be using rajouter instead of ajouter significantly less frequently than the rentrer/entrer pair), but it can very well be just me and it's only a matter of degree... decider vs. se decider: while in general, I'd say using the reflexive version show some additional or more personal involvment or feeling put in the decision, it can also mark the result and some previous hesitation or even overcoming some reluctance (not always, these are just colours of this version). For example you can say "je decide de prendre la voiture pour...", this is just a decision: chosing to take the car. While "je me decide à prendre la voiture pour...", you can almost translate by "I finally decide to take the car for..." (rather than another transportation means, for example), like you needed time to make up your mind or that you 'finally' agree or finaly give up arguing about it... (btw: not the same preposition used after: de/à) perso (for personel/lement) is quite informal, I would not use it in professional settings for sure, but how much you are sensible to the formal/informal nature of the use may be different in various places. Personnaly, I don't find it nice to the hear and I am not 15 years old (or less), so I just would likely just not use it

In Spanish we can also use decidir or pronominally se decidir but we use more frequently and naturally the 2nd, se decidir. I think for the French is the same. Thanks for the video:very useful.

The rentrée (use of re) reminds me of English where everyone says ´reiterate’ should be ‘iterate’. To iterate is to repeat, to reiterate is to repeat. Case in point, iterative evolution.

I am French and I had never thought about how odd it is that we say "rajouter" when we add something for the first time or how weird it is that we say "rentrer" sometimes instead of "entrer". When Martin said "quand je rentre" and you were talking about how it didn't make sense, I was like "what are you talking about?" before understanding why it's strange hahahaha.

I LOVE this show, and love learning french watching it, but it's strange that the English captions refer to home showings as "viewings." Here (at least where I live) a "viewing" occurs before a funeral. During some viewings, one even sees the embalmed dead body. So hearing that word kind of spoils my idea of visiting a beautiful home where one might decide to *live*.

Does anybody know how the songs used in episode 1 are called (- they are an easy, relaxed pop-house mix, for lack of better words)? Love the soundtrack and would like to look up the songs.

Sous-titres peut-^tre français allemand seulement; bon niveau intermediaire ok. entre les sous titres et l'ajustement de vitesse parfois (use the speed parameters!)

I wonder if it’s a little easier on the mouth to say “Je rentre” than “J’entre”? Or it just sounds better somehow? J’entre sounds a bit ugly.

I find it quite annoying to hear “rentrer” when it should be “entrer”, or in English “pre-planned” instead of “planned” (“to plan” already means “decide in advance”...!), etc. There are a lot of irritating hints such as these showing that many people don’t understand the sense of even the most basic words they use.
