Wow! What a teacher! Just bought this game and you helped me out so much! Thank you so much! Will be looking at your other videos for now on. Thanks again!
Really liked your play through. Nice to hear you offer tips and suggestions as well as the different lay out option. You've played this often and it shows in the way you've demonstrated it. Cheers!
I’ve just come across this play-through, which is really helpful - especially the thinking aloud. I bought it partly on the basis of this, I’ve played it twice, and I’ve got about as far into the yellow phase. It’s tough, but god fun. Thanks for the video!
I pulled this game out tonight after watching your play-through. I attempted to learn it previously but it didn't click back. I had a great time playing it this time around! Thanks for helping me dust this game off the shelf. I'm looking forward to play this game more. THUMBS UP!
Glad you pulled it out again. I find this is one of those games I forget about for a while and then go on a game playing binge until I beat those dratted pirates once and for all. Hope you did better than me!
I got this game 2 days ago (on a Friday) I played it once before watching your video to get some of the rules explained. Thank you for making this video and for a good explanation of the game.
I just subscribed. Your channel is fantastic. I’ve learnt so much. Keep up the great work you’ve made me enjoy boardgames again from when I was a kid. I have that nostalgic moment again. Thankyou
Nice explanation! Wandered here from Rahdo, really enjoying the transition to single- and 2-player games as my wife and I refine our game collection (having a little cub has cut into game nights with the crew lol). I will look for your stuff, very helpful.
So far this is a really well done. I've watched two other videos and couldnt pick up the flow of this game. I'm about halfway through and I'll add more once it clicks! Thanks for your hard work
Thanks for this run through. Great job explaining the game. I watched this a year ago but rewatched it today. And even though I've now played the game a lot, I just now learned something: You should try to avoid reshuffling your deck in the middle of a big fight, because then your draw deck will be unusually small and you will age quickly (i.e., have to add another aging card). This happened in your run through with the fight for the "Exploring the Island/Weapon" card that begins around time 38:27 and the shuffle happens at 41:57 with 6 of your cards out on the table.
The "below the pile" ability allows you to exchange the card you put on the bottom of the Robinson deck with a new one from the top. I picked up some great tips from this video. Thank you!
Agreed! Rule book can be quite confusing with the life points explanation. This is my first solo game after I've stopped going to open gaming groups (in short, personality type conflicts) Well done, sub'd.
That was such a great tutorial, well done. I’m new to board games so I’m looking into solo ones. I just subscribed to your Chanel. Any recommendations for solo board games?
Hi Solo. Great video! I have one question at the 36:30 mark you lost a fight and had to pay 4 life tokens you then said you could only discard two for three cards. Why is that?
Good video, congrats! I have doubts about the 1 below the deck, could you explain me better? whats happens if I draw it on the left side (free card) and what would happen if I draw on the right side?
Actually, you're playing as Friday, helping Robinson Crusoe who was stranded on the island. Obviously has no bearing on the game, but as someone who read Robinson Crusoe in school, it does bug me :) Great video, though!
As someone who just re-read the book, this whole premise is strange. Friday was merely a helpful student. Robinson was on the island twenty plus years without him. To be more mechanically accurate we should be playing as Robinson, and then accrue Fridays help in the 2nd or 3rd phase, increasing our fight or something similar.
Could someone explain the * Pirate card where it says +2 Hazard points for each aging card? Does this mean if I draw nothing but non-aging cards that are all zeroes, do I defeat the pirate?
Love the game. 4 Playthroughs and no win... on evel 1. I suck. Also bought the Android version for couch gaming. 2 Playthroughs and no win. I really suck. But I keep going!
Why is the -3 Aging card not played with a beginner game because its too difficult, but the -4 and -5 aging card are played, and put at bottom of pile?
Excellent walkthrough. I bought the game! Thanks! BTW on boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/43570/friday there's a fellow whose looking into make an tablet fan version using CardWarden.
