The way the hurry up offense @1:12 is portrayed here with fans support and coaches yelling plays frantically is one of the greatest sports scenes ever captured. What beautiful cinematography.

Friday night lights the movie did such a good job with accurately depicting realistic gameplay. I always appreciate that about this movie - they cared enough about the realism and cinematography and really put the effort into it. A lot of football movies fall short of this. Even the show wasn’t always so bad but there were more than a few eye roll moments in terms of the games. FNL the movie was always pretty sound.

This captures the reality so well it’s ridiculous. Time running down, fighting for a playoff spot, white knuckle trench warfare. Miss it.

IDK why, but sometimes captions make me mad. When they start rolling in their 2 min offense, the head coach says "Come off that line!" not come on front line. Hes just saying in the Southern/Texas dialect like come off at line. In other words, when the ball is snapped fire off and block.

I'm really disappointed in the Odessa community for casting him off as some useless animal, he was a young man at that time, but he was still a man who deserved to be treated like one based on what he gave and sacrificed for the game of football and that city. I wish he knew he had other options and didn't make football his one and only savior. Much respect and admiration for your body of work, Boobie Miles. You are a real icon.

They call 60 Cheetah on two occasions and the first time it's a pitch to the right and the second time it's a passing play

I have one nit pick with the scene towards the play before the end of game did he get a first down or no if he did then the zebras kinda robbed the Panthers of a few seconds because the clock would’ve stopped until the ref set the ball not hold it and let a few seconds run off.

The movie got a lot facts wrong, but the part about Miles playing in a game after he tore his ACL is accurate, and that's just nuts. No NFL player would ever do that, not even for the Super Bowl. To see a high school player doing it really is crazy.

In 1988 I don't know that orthopedic medicine handled it the same way. Not at the high school level anyway. He did go tot he doctor in the movie but he was fighting to get back. Today, he would have been pulled by a trainer and the coaches would talk to colleges and if he were as big as the movie portrayed him to be... the college he signed with might supervise his PT and recovery.

Idiotic to play on an injured ACL like that... Some injuries you can play through but the ACL is NOT one of them and is highly risky. Trying to play on that while its injured is just arrogance disguised as bravery. Sit out & rest up so you don't throw your entire future away.
