Love all Pete Walker's films,this in my opinion is his best.What i like about Walker is he ploughed his own furrow, and he delighted in rubbing the establishment up the wrong way,a damn good film maker

Wow!! Absolutely mind blowing ,literally with the drill!! This is on a par with Hammer House of Horrors, pity Pete Walker did not get the recognition he deserves.

There was a later film, directed (I think) by Abel Ferrara, called "Driller Killer", released in the US in 1979. It featured numerous killings with an electric drill but was much more explicit than this. When it was released on video in the early eighties it was subsequently put on the Director of Public Prosecutions list and banned for many years. It is available completely uncut now though.

Sheila Keith was an amazing actress and so good at playing deranged characters with a dark comedic edge. Frightmare is so good at creating an atmosphere of disturbing menace. Thank you for putting this on RU-vid.

Bloody hell - I've been hoping to see this film again... I saw it in a poky and rather shambolic little cinema in Leicester Square in 1974... I had a lovely girl called Angie with me... it was our first date after meeting at an Argent gig.. This was an amazingly scary little film and she was quite shocked by it - as was I... Sheila Keith was stunning.

Shelia great actress. She in another Pete Walker's several of them. House of Whipcord and Newcomer goes by another name too, Jack Jones is in it. He sang The Love Boat theme. He once was actress Susan George's love.

The "sinful seventies" had so many great little flicks back in the day. I really do miss them, so many great memories. The acting was much better than in the eighties.

Excellent 1974 Horror thriller directed by Pete Walker. Stunning performance by Sheila Keith who is well supported by the rest of the cast. Walker made some really good horrors in the 1970,'S. House Of Whipcord and this are his two best films. Good solid script and very raw. Still quite shocking even after 50 years. Great ending no cop out here. Nice print and well worth watching. An under rated gem.

The Sorcerer's is a fine film.Directir Michael Reeve's next film,Witch finder General is considered his masterpiece.He died at the ridiculous age of 23 after completing it.The Comeback is a later film by Frightmare's Pete Walker,and has the marvellous Sheila Keith back.Absolution has some great acting and writing,and Island of Terror great fun,reminds me of Friday night horror films as a boy!And if Cushing's in it,it's always worth watching.

There was a real story in the USA about a landlady called Dorothea who had killed many of her male tenents. She was over 60 years old I think.

this was an amazing film. The Father was the biggest deceiver to his own daughter how you not gonna stop her and help her out? even if he was threatened by his wife and the other daughter he could easily have left forget how much in love you think you are, thats no excuse unless he himself secretly enjoyed it too

The family as a group was led by Dorothy. The husband always sided with the wife. Jackie couldn’t be in the group because she isn’t Dorothy’s biological daughter. The only stable grouping possible is Dorothy with her husband and Debra; ultimately, that’s what happened. Jackie, in the beginning, tried to pull her father away from Dorothy but was unsuccessful. Near the end, Jackie was given a chance by her father to leave but she was driven by her love for Graham, whom she had unwittingly pushed into grave peril. Sad ending 😢 One should never put oneself into compromising positions in life. I’ve watched this movie numerous times.

Cold-blooded pathological murderers can never be cured, as the great Lombroso argued. Too many of them in this so-called film, which is nothing else but a catalogue of the most despicable acts of violence.

This is a film for horror enthusiast. It is an unadulterated horror. Nevertheless, it is interesting and put together rather well. On a humorous note, they remind me of some of my relatives. However, I will never go and visit them again! 😂😂 👍👍 Way up! PS Eat "before" you watch it!

This is my kind of horror!!! Seeing that patronising, clueless "doctor" get his comeuppance was a highlight!! One of many. Great acting, genuinely creepy and evil. Sheila Keith is the master of black comedy. This is Pete Walkers best film. Absolute classic.

Any one who doesn't think that this is a truly terrifying film is as deranged as the evil killers themselves. The old woman was able to carry out the murders because she had demonic strength.

Actors spent years in Rep theatre at that time learning their craft. Before going on to Film and TV . Unlike the current crop - straight from Drama school to screen . And it shows...!!

Holy crow, the evil, psychopath mother in this film even makes Hannibal Lecter look like Ned Flanders in comparison. Disturbingly creepy Brit movie but surprisingly well acted and executed. The old thrillers from the 70's always contained the best atmosphere.

Thank you for this, and all of your uploads. A Peter Walker film you say? well...yes indeed I will watch it. If anyone is interested, and if you liked this Peter Walker film, try-"The Comeback." Good ole creepy fun. That lady makes the whole film! I think from the picture on the cover of this one, it is the same lady. I saw her in a horror comedy-she is actually funny. I think that one is called- "The House of the Long Shadows." Please forgive me if I got the title wrong, but Desi Arnez Jr. is in it, so that's how you'll know.Cheers

Wowsers, that was great👍!!! As an aficionado of such art, that horror films are, and seen just 'bout (or so, I thought) every sci-fi/horror out there, I never seen this one. The crazy mother looks like Dan O'herlithy, in drag😝. And she laughs, like Vincent Price. The moral of the story here is; 'Like mother, like daughter'. Or, 'The family that cannibalizes together, stays together'☺️. Everything, IS inherited😵‍💫…………
