The Rangers have Jacob Trouba (7yrs no trade) and Adam Fox a better overall player and cheaper on the right side. They were going to move DeAngelo to the left side, but K'Andre Miller a 21year-old rookie has been better than anybody could believe. DeAngelo was gone because of that and no other reason. The fight would have been nothing if they needed him. In theory had nothing happened with Georgiev they needed to move him sooner than later. I am sure when they signed him they were planning to move him in the 2nd year of his contract anyway as they have a lot of Defensive prospects. Miller being better than anyone thought off the bat changed their whole mindset. As simple as that. DeAngelo will wind up on another team and will be great for them. He was actually well liked in the locker room and even as a smaller player stood up for his teammates on the ice. However, no one in the league has cap space so they can't just take his contract. They need to off load salary of their own or wait until later in the season, when the cap hit will be lower. He will have one more year after this and still be a restricted free agent after that so some team will scoop him up. And if Georgiev hit him first (as this video implies) than the Rangers would be upset that he fought back after being punched and took a stupid minor penalty. Really?

I’m a Rangers fan and I like Tony. It seemed he was scapegoated a bit as I’ve heard he was well liked in the locker room. With that being said, I knew his stay would not be long due to their defensive roster and upcoming prospects at the time.

i don’t buy the idea that there was no friction between miller and deangelo. during the on ice introductions before opening night miller was introduced right after deangelo and instead of skating to the near side of the circle to stand next to him and continue the number order pattern as every other player had done before him he skated all the way around to the opposite side of the circle to avoid him.

I like his personality and attitude in Philly.

Unpopular opinion, but Montreal should trade for DeAngelo We have recently been able to deal with actual locker room cancers (Like Radulov) and give them proper second chances in the league His value is at an all time low and we do need more defensive help Plus New York is gonna probably eat his salary And if he sucks well in 2 years he becomes UFA

My favorite Tony DeAngelo moment was when he went on a Twitter rant about how players shouldn't kneel for the anthem and then in the 2019-20 Playoffs Sebastian Aho deked around him to score a goal and DeAngelo ended up kneeling in the process.

pure speculation, but I'd bet that the signing of a big contract didn't do good things for Tony's attitude around the team. Also interesting that the Sarnia Sting decided to ship him out shortly after he was drafted into the NHL, even though he was a star in the league. When a player is young, teams might think he'll mature, but I think he's done now. He probably needs meds to regulate his emotions, but they will ruin him as a pro hockey player. I bet he's bipolar or has some similar disorder. Kinda sad, really.

Although I get he's controversial, it appears that JD and JG have Buyer's Remorse regarding ADA, given his '21 Bad Start. It's obvious that Alex Georgiev had not held confrontation against ADA, said it was part of the game of Hockey, and put it behind him. Given this, even though ADA did deserve some type of punishment, such as suspension, benching, a scratch, etc., I don't see it being any reason for waiving him, or, any type of Similar thing. Therefore, for the reasons mentioned, unless, there is something else, I think JD and JG, both of whom I have great respect, if there is Obvious Buyer's Remorse re ADA, they should come clean

If it was a production issue. Why is Mika Zibanejad still in the roster? 13 games in and he has 1+2 and a -5 rating, while playing 1st line minutes. No. The only reason DeAngelo was waivered is because he's a conservative who supports a President who 70 million americans voted for.

DeAngelo is damaged goods that keeps throwing himself down the stairs. He's been given so many chances by NHL teams to clean up his act off the ice but he hasn't. I will be very surprised if any North American team of any league brings this guy onto their roster.
