Agreed. And politically, we all must: 1 of 2. *This is how you always need to vote:* We must fully resist and _always vote_ against (& less authoritarian than) both the Republican *and* Democratic Parties- including AOC, all of the squad, Bernie Sanders, Edward Markey, Mark Pocan, the justice democrats, Biden & all other democrats. Vote in every single election- at all levels. And also _endorse or anti-endorse,_ in all elections you can, for outside your voting jurisdiction. For _all_ public positions. And this same strategy applies against the same one or more party-monopolies in _all_ countries worldwide. Real progressives will never be Democratic Members or Democratic loyalists. Never vote for _any_ Republican member or loyalist either. You can always _write-in_ an anti-authoritarian person if no candidates for a position fit that bill. This will continuously reduce the power of _all_ authoritarian parties in the party monopolies. Until our task is complete. Repeat strategy for all new authoritarian parties that emerge.

Just watched it on Nebula. You did an incredibly beautiful, well-crafted and touching piece of film. You worked so hard and passionately with such great people and it absolutely shows in the end product. I enjoyed everything about it and you can be very proud of yourself. Love and congratulations.
Endless congratulations, Jessie, on still more beautiful art you've shared with us and your engagement. Thank you for all the joy you have brought to the world. Keep being awesome!
I love love love IdenTITeaze, and love love love your caring, honest approach to making art. I resonated so strongly with your description of the process, and it says a lot that more than one of your actors commented how much care you took of them. And I'm also grateful for the pointer to a philosophy of queer futurity - very much what I'm trying to work on with crip futurity, and I think there's a lot each can learn from the other. And CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! A movie, a fiancée.... you deserve all the queer joy you brought us in that climactic scene. More please!!!!!
So... it took me a while to come around to watch... but... YOU DID BEAT IT OUT OF THE PARK. Invincible style. You did raise the bar on how to add our voices to the choir, but in this collective song we are building, thank you for your, and your whole team, because it takes a village and it took a village and it was impressive to hear how deep all the voices joined up... Thank you. To all of you
speaking of physical media, do you think you'd ever be able to do any kind of physical dvd/blu-ray release of identiteaze? i LOVE collecting the movies i enjoy
Oh you have a VHS of the Matrix huh? Well I have… a DVD from that one release of the movie that you can find in literally every thrift store on the planet! So there!
In this incredibly moving video the "Serving looks" and "Cheese!" comments sounded like they came directly from my mouth. (I was actually thinking about the amazing hair *right* before the words and hug.) Also, how amazing that in a "My movie is premiering" video Jessie spends over 90% talking about how wonderful other people - many viewers would typically never see - are? She can't just showcase their talent, but *has* to share, as mentioned here, their humanity and what makes all of them great *people.* That is why I'm moved to bits by this video, but why I've continued to follow for so long.
Watching new sci-fi the only right way: 1) Watch the thing. 2) Watch Jessie Gender talking about the thing. And this part two was probably the best ever. All I'll say about part one is... I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUELS/SERIES!
And that exquisitely done slight drop of the tape itself just slightly outside the box almost like a flash of a coolness badge: Jessie Gender, director, cyberpunk aficionado!
Making art is hard. Never let anyone (ANYONE!) tell you otherwise. Art is labor. Art is love. Art is doubt. Art is pain. Art is catharsis. Art is resistance. Art is community. But most of all, I think art is hope. There's a wonderful overlapping Venn diagram drawn by comic artist Dan Shive. In it, we see three sets: 1. A story must make sense in the context of the world in which it is embedded. 2. A story needs a logical narrative structure. 3. People like the story or it otherwise resonates with the zeitgeist. #1 and #2 are under our control as auteurs, so we aim for the overlap in the first two. Your film achieved that, Jessie. Bravo! You were successful to the extent you had control as a writer and director. It's so emotionally difficult to put these pieces of ourselves out there for the world to see. The leap of faith is always reception. Artists can only hope to overlap all three circles. Bad takes are pennies per hundreds on social media, and media literacy is sorely lacking in the West. It can feel like the hysteria about queer people right now is insurmountable. But I don't think it is. I think unique storytelling like IDENTITEAZE is an important contribution to the snowball of representation and persuasion we need to move us out of these dark times. If I'm wrong and the reach of the film remains limited to queer spheres, it's still important motivation. It is "our" story as LGBTQIA+ folks. We don't get to say that often enough. Thanks for being inspired to make this beautiful short film, and to Nebula for helping you fund it. P.S. Congratulations on the engagement!
My now-daughter and I each came to your channel independently of each other, and we occasionally will watch your latest video together, so we’re both looking forward to seeing this! My wife has a bit of a crush on John de Lancie (can you blame her?), so we can definitely get her in on this as well! So happy for you to have this opportunity!
Im a young trans writer who really wants to make shows/maybe a movie about queer experiences for people (like me) who love and truly cherish stories like these. Im happy to see other trans people i follow film making!! Its inspiring :)
No direct spoilers, but "vibe spoilers" The story very much felt like a grown-up remix of roughly S5E26 "Together Alone" of Steven Universe, and more broadly Diamond Days (the S5 finale arc) in general, but in a way that works standalone without needing literally five seasons of buildup, so well done! I'm not particularly well-versed in most of the inspirations you cited but I definitely got The Matrix and Star Trek (specifically holodeck) from it, style-wise. Loved it! It felt very much like a series pilot
Aaaah! I am so excited for you for both the release of Identiteaze and for sharing your partner with us all! I hope you have a great relationship and enjoy life! Thank you for sharing your excitement with all of us.
VERY cool :) I'll have to join up with Nebula and check this out! I'm sorry this last year has been a hard one. Hang in there, and all my love to you and your gal :)
Makes me happy seeing you so happy! Joy is a wonderful thing and I appreciate that definition of queer quoted, and if that's how it actually is supposed to be, then we should all be queer. Settling for the same old thing isn't really living. Damn. You're gonna make me buy Nebula. Congrats on your engagement too! I'm assuming you'd have cut that scene if she said No, so very happy for you!!!
Congratulations, my friend, and congratulations to the wonderful cast and crew who made it all happen! Sending so much love (and hype, lots of hype.) 🖤🤎❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Not me beaming at the Pokemon ring! I hope you two queer nerds have many more wonderful years together! Absolutely gonna check this movie out. I just wanna know how to cast Nebula onto my tv so I can do it the justice it deserves.
I thought it was great - James and Maggie both killed it with their performance and the way the higher ranked employers talk down to them reminds me of some teachers I have had bullied me because of my autism and now because of IDENTITEAZE I know Aron can be spelled with both an A or E - didn't know that before. Ane most important of all good luck with the proposal!
I signed up for Nebula just to watch! Enjoyed it very much. Most of all I'm so happy for you to have this experience and get to learn what you've shared. I'm currently waiting for a paradigm shift in my creative life, and am inspired by your success to make some moves towards my own.
the very second I can manage, I am sitting down with my other half and a bag of popcorn and watching Identiteaze. I DO NOT HAVE STARS IN MY EYES RIGHT NOW!
I’m an aspiring author with a debut novel hopefully coming out next year. It’s the product of years of story building with my friends and there are more years to come. That collaborative magic is… chef’s kiss. I can’t imagine how amazing it must feel for you after this. So excited to see your movie, Jessie!
Cheers, Jesse I haven’t seen it yet but, making a film of any kind is a nightmarish ordeal that must be barreled through with passion alone. u know no matter what u saw a vision through to the end.
OMMMMGGG!!!! I'm bawling!!! I love you! I hope she said yes!!! I watched the movie and honestly at the end all I kept thinking was wait no that's all??? More! Please tell me that was just part one? I want to know everything about everything. All of the loves to you and your beautiful fiance 🤞
It's ironic that the people who pushed this very idea of the self expression of the self under the notion of "the great spiritual awakening" are complaining about everything being "woke." I've gotta see it. Does this film cover those of us who have close friends who despise each other based on conflicting idiologies and yet will not stop trying to bring them together? I think it does from what you've said, but if I'm wrong, how would you go about doing that? I am that guy who sees each side of the coin and has a massive complaint about how Politics and Hollywood deals with these things and friends who really hate each other on ignorance but I know it's possible to bring them together on more important issues. Don't worry about your film. I'm still trying to work on ideas I began 25 years ago that I keep stalling on because of perfectionism and worry of being humiliated. Not to mention that I begin something and then a film is announced with that same plot. That's the most insanity causing thing sometimes. Anyway. I will look at your film. I want to see it!
Jessie my friend. That's an absolutely *stellar* ring design. I already know how it all went, but, I am certain the ring was the thing that sealed the deal as it were. Most people can drop to a knee, bust out the romantical chops and pop the question, but it takes a really special sort of human to do so with a ring as brilliant as that. Nerd-for-life fam! (EDIT) oh and lest I forget... LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!
My depression from the state of the world has led to my homelessness. I'm sorry you're going through intense depression as well. Just know you're not alone. Also freaken congrats on the wedding!
I couldn't watch yesterday for reasons, but I watched it today. Amazing job! Really enjoyed it. I really hope you get the funding/deal to make more! Incredible cast, fantastic and fun script, impressive DIY sets, props and effects. Thanks, Jessie!
I'm a trans gay 17 y/o, and yesterday, I confessed to my crush and we're together now. So that video was perfectly timed, I really, really hope I can be like you when I'm older. You're a role model to me, and I don't know if I'll watch the movie, but this video alone almost made me cry. I hope she said yes!
Genuinely thrilled for you! I stopped my nebula subscription as I didn't use it often enough but I'm 100% gonna get it just so I can see your movie! Edit: HOLY SHIT CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm so happy you've found your person as you really do deserve all the success and happiness. Also the cheese bit is very relatable lol
2:59 I definitely caught the Matrix vibes and the reference to the red pill scene on the poster. But I also saw some inspirations from 2001: A Space Odyssey and some of the dialogue reminded me of certain Star Trek phrases, particularly when referring to the AI and loading or ending programs.
I love the nod to Star Trek when John de Lancie does the double finger snip! Congrats, Jessie, to making a movie!!! And congrats to your engangement! The happiness really was contagious, I had to smile with you!
My partner and I were so psyched to watch Identiteaze when it came out. It was gripping and meaningful and once we were done, we both agreed that the only 'problem' we found with it was that we were already so invested, we knew it would be hard to wait for more! I really really hope that this is just the start. Thank you and congratulations for bringing this remarkable work to life, and congratulations as well on your engagement! We wish you so much happiness and success! You deserve it all!
Watched the movie and loved it! ❤ I'm also just amazed at how good this cast is, Maggie and James do a fantastic job grounding the movie, Darius' performance absolutely sells a lot of those intense scenes at the end, and I already knew that Jasika Nicole was captivating, but it was still such a rush to see her bring that here. Here's to many more Identiteazes! 🎊
Can't believe I got to see this premiere. Not often that one personally gets to witness history! The movie is really good; highly recommended to everyone! Acting, production, everything on this was excellent! My only criticism - too short! We need more, Jessie. We need more. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Also - for anyone who might be wondering. Spoilers, though? But can confirm, everything went fine (better than fine) with the proposal! It was incredibly sweet and beautiful. I think the temperature of the theatre went up by at least 10oF with that kiss...
Thank you for the video, Jessie! And congratulations for you and your crew! And even more congratulations for your engagement with your partner! As a non-creative person who mostly interacts with media as viewer, reader, listener, and receiver in general, the creation process sounds scary to me, especially the logistical aspect of production. Unfortunately, we have the tendency of associating the media work to a single individual, when, in most of the cases, it is actually a group effort. So, I really appreciate highlighting the entire team behind and in front of the cameras here!
I'll watch you movie today in Nebula, it's really inspiring when someone with such a unique vision gets their dream project made. I hope it's the first of many more to come.
Crying all over again 😭 Being with you for the end of this journey and the beginning of a new one is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life. Love you 💕
It was amazing, Jessie! I can’t wait to see a sequel. This is your first of hopefully many more successes as a filmmaker. ❤🎉😸🤩 I loved the ending with Abigail Thorn and John De Lancie.
Your movie is AMAZING! I'm so intrigued to learn more about the world you created, but more importantly, I'm intrigued to learn more about MYSELF and the REAL WORLD I live in. I think that's what moviesand TV are ultimately supposed to do. Spark curiosities about ourselves. CONGRATULATIONS. I hope this gets greenlit into a full series.
I just love the image in my head of her trying not to be a total fangirl when meeting JOHN FUCKING DE LANCIE, and still becoming good friends with him all the same.
Made my eyes water a little at the special part! I am so excited for you and love that you made a film. I hope it brings you success and more filmmaking. If you ever want a background artist who is a transman, I’d love to be in one of your productions. You’d have to fly me from Kansas tho. So. Proud. Of. You. 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
