We are happy to have him as our PM because of his sincerity , humility and ability to mingle with people of all levels . We will support him all the way
The appointment of Wong is, I think, a mark of a mature democracy fit to set a benchmark for governance in the 21st century. A break from legacy politics, Wong has proved his mettle as a technocratic leader with a consultative style. He is the beneficiary of the Singapore state system - brought up in public housing and educated on merit based scholarship, he appears to have his feet firmly on the ground. Malcolm Gladwell has observed, I think in Outliers, how the less obvious candidates for a role bring greater, longer lasting impact. Gladwell argues, as I recall, those who have had personal challenges, or at least faced constraints in getting to the top, bring a certain determination coupled with humility. Not quite imposter syndrom, I think the argument is that such people drive themselves to constantly do better and remain grateful for the opportunity. I wish Wong well and though not a Singaporean, hope very much that your tiny country can show the world successful ways of governing a country with a multi-ethnic, multi-racial population, resource and labour shortages in a region fraught with constant political balancing acts.
LW said in one of his video clips that he is very thankful to his late father for coming to Singapore with his family to make a living. For him, that was the best decision as that had given him the financial means and opportunities to realise his potential that allowed him to become what and who he is today.
The new PM certainly has the knowledge, experience and intelligence to do the job. However he need to have a good team of supporting Ministers to help him move the country forward in the best interests of Singaporeans. The real test will be challenges that cannot be foreseen now : 不怕一萬, 只怕萬一 不怕一万, 只怕万一 (we are not afraid of ten thousands known occurrences but are only scare of a single unknown possibility). The ability to pull through such headwinds will required true grits.
Hi Peter, your guess is as good as ours. We thought it was worth mentioning it in the video and share the possible reasons why they did not vote for Lawrence Wong. But we don’t think there was any ill-intent for not voting for him.
@TheSunPrince The current PM was voted by the cabinet members of his predecessor, and so we have no say. If the ruling party wins in the coming elections, it is then for us voters to assess and judge his performance before we give him and his team the next mandate.
If the population of singapore don't give you the title of DPM and FM can you function and prospers and survive in the storm of fintech. I beg your pardon?
After taking office on 15 May 2024, few days later an SAF F16 fighter jet crashed at Tengah military airbase, pilot injured. Today, 7 days later 21 May 2024, an SIA flight from London to Singapore hit with major tumultuous, 1 dead and 30 injured, 7 seriously. Bad omen!!
Include too the poor young scdf officer who died saving others. Only child too. Don't recall anything concrete done for the family considering the scdf officer was the only child
@@jackkunasagaran5646Guess even if you're paid to say this, it won't hurt to use one's brains to avoid making things personal. Honourable ones engage on facts, hooligans make personal attacks.
What about half way through. He decide to quit again to make way for the next Lee empire choice. After sqeeze Singaporean to its core. For the next Lee to spend like mad.
Don't bother to compare with any aussie politicians in the current era. The last respectable leader that emerged in down under is Paul Keating. All the leaders after him aren't worth mentioning.
@@offiz The metaphor of my comment is .. "Talk less, Do more Let the end results speak for himself" Give him the benefits of the doubt , of course , we wish him all the best.
