I live in Iowa and have spent my whole life surrounded by cornfields! I definitely loved this video! Corn mazes and hay rack rides through them are always fun! Children of The Corn may not be the best movie but always been one of my favorites because it reminds me of my small town!! I also LOVED Clown in A Cornfield! 🖤🌽🌽

I was in a corn maze once and was completely hopeless! Definitely disorienting. If I remember correctly, there's a cornfield scene in SInister 2.

OMG this is the MOST fun and creative themed reading vlogs !!!! Like I want more horror/thriller books featuring this setting! I think the only one Ive read is the Small SPaces book by Katherine Arden but I did have J H Markerts book The Nightmare Man on my TBR for a while!!! There is something SO incredibly spooky about corn fields!!!🌽🌽🌽

YESSSS I LOVE SMALL SPACES!! I actually almost read Nightmare Man but didn't want to spend the audible credit on books that weren't likely going to be five stars haha. But I think I will give it a shot at some point! I have heard some folks really love it!

I love Scary stories to tell in the dark. So excited they are making a sequel. I actually enjoyed There's someone inside your house. 😂 Small spaces is a great spooky book with a cornfield theme. It's a middle grade book but it's so good. I love the whole series. 🌽

I loved the whole Small Spaces series too! I really wish there was more than just four books. I loved the themes of grief, friendship and coming of age. Such a powerful book! And I CANNOT wait for that Scary Stories sequel. I really do hope it comes out by next Halloween! There's another movie on Netflix that looks almost kind of similar to it that I want to check out, which is Nightbooks. Have you heard of it??

I am SO delighted to see that other people love this setting, too! Reading books and watching movies with this setting really had me thinking about how it operates within the genre. It's such a creepy and unsettling place that's easy to create dread within the plot! And I am so glad that Pumpkinheads was there for you when you needed it most. I wish they sold prints of some of my favorites scenes! 🥰

What a fun theme. The setting tropes are so good and totally fall feeling🎃. I love scary stories to tell in the dark too. Such a fun movie! I had no idea children of the corn was only a short story. It's so talked about and classic I definitely thought it would be a full novel 😂 You did a great job creating such an extensive list 🌽🌽 I still need to read clown In a cornfield

I feel LITERALLY the SAME WAY about both the book and movie versions of There's Someone Inside Your House! 😂 It's weird because I had all of the same issues with both. Glad I'm not alone in my critique

I love this video!!! There is so much lore behind cornfields that I have never thought about! I love the B-roll of you walking around the cornfield in the beginning of the video. It makes me want to find one near me to visit! 9:32 exactly! The art in Pumpkin Heads is so beautiful and has the perfect fall vibes!! 🎃🖤 🌽💛

Loved this. And I agree, corn mazes/fields are one aspect of this season that terrifies me and that I will 100% not be a part of. Someone who is claustrophobic and gets easily disoriented and anxious, even thinking about being stuck in there - even with no ghoulies or ghosties jumping out at me makes my throat close in. It might seem strange to some people but it's a real thing for some of us scardy cats 😂Dark Night of the Scarecrow is on my list of things to watch this month- still haven't gotten to it and I'm more interested now after hearing your thoughts. Small Spaces has an evil corn field! And ummmm the first xfiles movie has a corn field chase. The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight was definitely going for a “slow” farmhand thing which is soooo iffy. And RL Stine did a lot of tap dancing to avoid saying outright that the dude was practicing witchcraft. I need to see the Dark Harvest movie! 💜👻🎃🎃💀💀🌺💀🍁🍂

Ahhh! Yes -- Small Spaces!! I really loved that series. It really got me into middle grade earlier this year. I love how open to YA/MG people are on booktube! And I have been SO eager to try out XFILES! I was thinking of doing a vlog while watching the first season in November since it's going to be a sci fi theme for my content that month! 👽👽

I love the Children of the Corn movie so much. “Outlander…we have your woman!!” 😂😂 Such a guilty pleasure for me, watched it a lot growing up. Dark harvest is one I’ve been wanting to get to! I am totally down for videos on cornfields! I love Dark Night of the Scarecrow. It certainly isn't perfect but the vengeance against his killers was really unique. That Mailman is TERRIFYING and I think that performance sells the movie. Children of the Corn is so bad hahahahaha but there are some awesome lines. Husk I have not seen and I haven't seen Scary Stories either! So some new recs for me. I did not like In the Tall Grass but you make a good argument for it and make me want to revisit it. I liked Dark Harvest but I can't see myself checking out the movie unless it gets REALLY good reviews. I need to read Pumpkinheads! That sounds awesome! Great video and theme!

I am so curious to know what you didn't like about In the Tall Grass! Did you know that James Marsden was actually going to be the cast as the little boy's father?? Weird, right? haha

Obsessed with this video!! Corn mazes are so my thing and this got me super hyped to visit one! 🌽Children of the Corn is all sorts of ridiculous. I do like that the film gave Vicky more agency and how it engages more with religion, like with the radio preacher. 🌽 I've always looked at Dark Night of the Scarecrow as making a point about ableism through its killer the same way Candyman makes a point about racism through its killer. 🌽 We have a lost podcast episode on There's Someone Inside Your House which was basically just me ranting about Darby getting deadnamed. The author appeared apologetic but then they did it again in the film.Confusing choice for a horror book/film that marketed itself as inclusive. Plus, the killer's motive was SUCH a letdown! 🌽I love Dark Harvest sooo much but can definitely see why people would be turned off by the writing style. I can't wait to see what they do with the film! 🌽Loved Clown in a Cornfield and hated the sequel so, so much that I'm unsure if I'll check out the third.

And that's such a good comparison to Candyman. I can see that in how Dark Night ended with that touching moment with the young girl. You're as obsessed with corn as Christopher Nolan who had 500 acres of corn planted for the movie Interstellar. These are not recommendations but The Girl in the Cornfield, The Legend of Halloween Jack, and Scarecrows (2017) exist.

@@happyhauntslibrary Depending on how flexible you are in terms of cornfields Scarecrows (1988) also exists. The scarecrows are in a cemetery and main characters have machine guns.
