You did a great job restoring this boat! It's running great and looks beautiful. I did the same for my 17ft bass boat. It was rotting in my grandfather's yard as he was to old to fix it himself. I offered to take it home and give it some elbow grease, (and alot of extra $) but it was worth it. Looks and runs great now. I went to return it to him, and he had a signed title in his hand and said, "you'll use it more than me, but you have to take me fishing" great video

As far as I know, they don't make them anymore. Treat her well, enjoy it, boating can be tons of fun, my boat is my playmate, I don't know what I would have done without it. I 2nd the carb kits, new impeller & lower unit oil. Also, those old 2 strokes,,,, don't even bother using the oil injection system because they tend to be very inconsistent and make it smoke more. Just pre-mix the gas and it will smoke a lot less. My friend has older Whaler with Twin Oceanpro's and he mechanic suggested the premix method. It is smoked ALOT less and the motors ran better. He had a large internal tank so for every 25 gallons he throws in a quart of 2 stroke oil (100:1). Just a thought.

@hhhk20 It's not the washing the dirt off but seeing thru the state it was in to realize that all it needed was a bloody good clean up. Most people who would look at a boat in its previous state could not see past the dirt they would fear that the damage was right into the core not just superficial and walk away from buying it.
@thomasarussellsr
@thomasarussellsr 5 лет назад
Whether I would have left it where I saw it would depend on the price. For the right price, it could be a more involved restoration and I would still have purchased it. Obviously the way it looked he did not pay top dollar (at least I would hope not).

You can minimize exposure to mold by spraying it with a Biocide and letting it sit. If you attempt this in the future. Also spraying the upper carpet in the cabin with a Biocide let it soak then use a carpet cleaner with upholstery attachment to shampoo it out. Boat looks great. I have refurbished quite a few in my former career. From Mahogany to fiberglass a little elbow grease and polish and it will shine like a diamond in a goats A$$
@Rattlerjake1
@Rattlerjake1 5 лет назад
@@meacomefeyou - Actually it's not mold, it is Lichen - big difference. Secondly, the mold has desiccated by being out in direct sunlight and isn't actively growing or producing spores. Once you start pressure washing, the "mold" isn't going airborne because it is in a wet state. Much different than the mold conditions inside a house.

I'll wager they come up all the time all across the country. The same for camping trailers and motorhomes. Such items are often under-used and owners are willing to make a deal but don't want to go to the bother (that's why they're under-used). We have a 32' motorhome that may get used once or twice a year.
