In this week's video we swap van life for bothy life for a night. Our journey begins from the banks for Loch Arkaig to the stunning wee highland bothy at Glenpean. The walk to the bothy takes approximately 2 hours on a very accessible road. So by bothy standers it's easy to get to.
Bothy life seemed to be a good change from van life and a good opportunity for us the escape the modern world for a night. For those who don't know what a bothy is, it's essentially a refuge for hikers in the most remote places in Scotland. There is no running water, no electricity, no internet and only open fires for heating. It's practically just a roof over your head. But it's free to use for those who want to explore the remote and hard to reach places in Scotland.
Bothies are part of the outdoor culture of scotland and are run and looked after by volunteers. They are treasured by thousands of people.
