I’m always filled with 🇦🇺 pride seeing young Australians building businesses . Kurtis & Karen ( and the Apprentice, Homey) are a real inspiration. Bloody great ‼️ Robert
dosn't matter how good you are mistakes happen, ask him how many times he's welded his screw driver or clamp to a work piece!. a pro is some one who learns to accept that, and gets very good at correcting the mistakes ;)
I think this channel should be compulsory viewing for every apprentice, every year, every trade. Design, planning sequence of tasks, through to completion. Yes, even the mistakes. Sooner or later, everyone becomes a teacher and a storyteller. You two are amongst the best.
Couldn't agree with you more! I'm a woodworker, but the forethought and planning that goes into these builds/projects is PHENOMENAL, and absolutely carries over to all kinds of other trades!
I like how Karen leaves in the little details like Kurtis sweeping down the bench before setting up the next frame. They're important steps that are often forgotten about or cut out from other videos. They really help with the story telling.
I am giddingly awaiting Kurtis' recreation of that classic Gene Wilder Young Frankenstien momment ... by Kurtis growing his hair out, standing atop the 'monster' and screaming "Its alive! Its ALIVE!" On a serious note ... who is going to play Igor (thast's pronounced 'Eye gore')?
You mean they don't do ad reads. But they do have Google Ad Sense enabled so they DO get money from Ads during the video. They just have less choice on what ads get played so get less money.
This is what a RU-vid channel should look like: someone who is outstanding at his job, that people enjoy watching and learning, combined with a nice and careful edition. Congrats to you both. Homeless participation is also appreciated. Thanks for the good work!
BTW... Just as a suggestion in case you haven't done yet. Why dont you make a video showing all the production and editing work behind the scenes? I'm sure there's a lot or work in there. Worth to share with the audience 😉
@@felipin6665 I would enjoy seeing a video of just Karen doing her job of not only filming Kurtis working around the shop but also her job of keeping CEE running. I'm sure she is the one that does all the paperwork, billing, and probably a bunch of other little jobs that go unnoticed. Thank you Karen for keeping CEE running and all the camera work and editing.
27:43: when mounting, before you screw it together, put some low strength sealant in between the frame and the toolbox, and around the mounting holes, so you don’t have the corrosion problem again (like on the side where the cab was) - and make sure it’s not a silicone-based sealant, because then you can just over paint it, and it will look fabulous :) ..that’s how we do it on trains, some fixtures are just tacked in place, sealed off with SIKA and then overpainted. greetings from switzerland
Plus a thick plate as load spreader, welded inside the box, because you can be sure lots of rigging will be in there, and lots of heavy chain as well. Sika Pro II HP will work well there, and with that you do not need the bolts after it cures.
Coming from the land of salt mist, that is how I do a lot of my builds, I all so use a lot of plastic stand off isolators and stainless steel fasteners to side step galvanic corrosion.
Whom ever you order your sheet metal parts from is a excellent supplier, they wrap and strap everything down perfectly. Homeless is such a happy dog, I really enjoy seeing the interaction you have with him.
CEE is the cornerstone of my Friday mornings. I've been looking forward to Kurtis putting it all back together - especially the cab. Nice! Thanks, guys!
@@sampsonsunny6298TV for interesting content is basically dead. RU-vid streaming killed, helped along by TV stations not starting a program on time, so if you are recording a program for later, you capture 15 minutes if the previous program and 15 short on the program you wanting.
Greetings from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA. Tad early in the morning here. Couldn't sleep, so tuned in and sure enough here is your next installment of the fenna crane. Have watched every episode thus far and am eagerly watching this one. All of you, Kurtis, Karen and of course the safety dog good old Homeless. Keep up the great work. Lol haven't finished this one and can't wait for the next one.
@@MrSamrobz Yeah! Ol' Kurt doesn't do ANYTHING "Half-Fast"! I've said before this thing is going to be a "Show-Car" one-of-a-kind MONSTER when it's finished! Can't wait for the next "installment"!
You know, I wish I had someone like Kurtis as an instructor when I was doing my Cert 1. You can learn a surprising amount of good habits just from watching someone. And honestly, this would be an incredible piece of advertising to your existing clients, simply for the "If I take this kind of care and precision with my equipment that you will never see, imagine what I'm doing for your repairs" factor. Amazing job as usual Kurtis and Karen, and may everything go as smoothly as water off a ducks' back.
Very high quality fabrication work with excellent videos showing the details. It adds a lot to understanding the method by watching it happen in time lapse, as opposed to reading about how it’s done. If you think about the number of young people watching these videos, this information is getting spread out across the www and should help lots of people. Sure wish we had this 40 years ago ! Big smiles for me on Friday visiting Homey who’s just a giant heart on four legs with a big smile on his face !
@@jesscourt9068 My Dad was named Arthur and he was definitely a part-time fabricator (weekends only). He had a different Patron Saint; *_Arthur-itis_* However I'm sure Saint *_Arfur Fuxsache_* was called upon on some occasions when us kids were out of earshot.
You know, you guys will never cease to amaze! I know that tub used to be the Franna. I know Kurtis is literally a genius at this. I'm only 5 minutes in and I'm just blown away. I can't wrap my head around the scale. But to channel Big Kev, I'M EXCITED
1. The editing just got even better. And the camerawork too. 2. Curtis in the first shots was clearly rested, it was noticeable immediately. Or the sun was shining at the right angle :))) 3. The Franna crane rebuilding is probably the most popular project on the channel. It is a pleasure to watch it even for those who do not work with their hands. And for those who can hold a file and a bolt cutter it is simply the best series.
Both of you folks have so much talent that I am really amazed. The design and sending out of drawings for the sheet metal is oustanding. And the cinematography by Karen is the absolute "BEST" I have seen on the RU-vid channel! Congratulations on your fabulous work on this presentation.
I've been following the Franna Crane Project since the beginning. It's unbelievable what an elaborate and time-consuming job it is to completely rebuild the front with toolbox and crane cab. I wonder how Kurtis does it all without plans or drawings. The filming and editing work by Karen is also extremely time-consuming! Really great! 👍👍👍Greetings from: 🇩🇪
Wdym, without plans or drawings? He said in the beginning that he drew it all up in CAD, ordering those sheet metal parts would be really difficult otherwise. But yeah, the amount of work that they both put into this project is insane. Really awesome to see, and so far the design is looking FIRE!
How do you think the guy did the cutting and bending of the brass mounted today? Based on an explanation on the phone? Just because we do not see them does not mean there are no plans …
I agree. It’s great to see a craftsman, so skilled at his craft , demonstrating his skills. This also includes Karen who is the best photographer/editor on Utube. Karen you should be teaching classes on how to produce utube videos.
It's so great to see how much effort you put into making and then correcting a "mistake" so others could learn from it. Really nice of you to do Kurtis. ;-)
I’m looking forward to the mechanical side of the build, like the diffs and engine etc. I also enjoy seeing the custom stuff you’re doing now especially since you don’t show the design and instead show us as you build it. It makes for a more interesting video.
This episode reminded me of my grandfather. He was a jack of all trades and taught me a lot. One piece of knowledge is every shop needs some good chunks of wood! Thanks for the memories. So excited so see every bit of this project.
I have been watching "machining" and "fabricating" videos on RU-vid for 15 years. A _lot_ of them. The hallmark of the Master is that they never make a mistake, they only make _human_ errors. AND they _admit_ it. You will note that none of the lengths are wrong, that would be a mistake. But tacking it in before its time is such a perfect example of a _human_ error. I define a _human_ error as one that no amount of experience, nor practice, nor care, will ever eliminate _because_ we are human. Kurtis and Karen are true Masters of their crafts and we see it here.
I can only imagine how detailed your cut sheets are that you send to the people who manufacture your fabrication. Between sizes, angles and openings and bend allowances thats pretty amazing. Being an ex sheet metal worker for 45 years my hats off to you.
Solidworks does an amazing job at generating sheet metal templates for production, but hats off to the supplier for making them to spec and Kurtis for the modeling job and fitting them to an existing frame
Others have already commented on this, but thanks so much for including the mistake! You handled it like a pro. No whinging (at least on camera, ha!) and you fixed it and proceeded. Your work is truly excellent. I like the idea of fitting the frame inside the sheet!
Gooooooooood morning Aussies, thanks for another update of the Frana project. Have a great weekend and don't forget the bellyrub for Homey. Greetings from The Netherlands and see you next week bright and early
If there is a person who works with dexterity and method it is you Kurtis. I loved this video of adjustment and welding of the new sheet metal parts of the Frana crane that you are renovating and that I have been following since the beginning, I am patiently waiting for the final result. Thanks to the whole CEE, a French fan.
Yer know young boys, what we don't get to see are all the hours of design work you two put into these projects before ordering the steel. Huge kudos to
Hello from France, Every week I impatiently await the new video. I would just like to say that my favorite videos are the ones where you repair objects that I thought were irreparable. I was not in this profession and I am amazed to see how you always find solutions and manage to help your customers. Thank you for these excellent videos.
Good morning, your workmanship and attention to detail is outstanding. I wish others in the world of fabrication and design would follow your lead. Keep up the good work
Kurtis, your Franna Crane project is well on its way now. I'm enjoying your assembly of all those fabricated pieces. I agree having someone else fabricate those pieces save you some of the headaches but most important your time, Greetings from Mobile, Alabama, USA,
First of all amazing!!! It’s unbelievable how you designed these new pieces had them fabricated, comes back and everything fits like it’s supposed to!!! Great work, enjoy every video!!!!!!!!!!!
Part 22 already…the rebuild has started. Love seeing the progress. Good job on the design in Solid works! And yes of course…it is designing and modify till it all works. That’s engineering and manufacturing..loads of fun!
Hello Karen and Kurtis, greetings from Belgium..... The rebuild of the Franna crane has begon a joy to start my Friday morning with. Enjoy your restful weekend, with a beer or two 😁. Big paw from Sadie & Rønne
Hey Karen(the Camera-Queen),Kurtis(the Welding-/Blasting-/Milling-/Honing-/whatever-God), Homie(Security-Hero) and the „workshop - Airforce“ around you! A great day begins. Franna crane is growing !!! Good luck, Kurtis! Wish ye all the best and a great day from the other side! 🇩🇪 Cheers !🍻 Micha
I subscribe to many RU-vid Chanels. CEE is always my Main Attraction. Great work. As always, thanks to the excellent camera work we get to see all the fine details.
After having just completed a large and solid security door out of 40mm x 3mm box and perforated sheet for the front of my house, I felt every tack and weld you did when you put together the cabin. I look at your work in envy, with your welding bench and non-shaking hands. Keep up the good work.
The best welders are those with terrible shaky hands, or surgeon like control, never someone in between. My Father taught me to weld with mig, gas, and arc, he was from the shaky hand school of welding (30+ year Rolls Royce trained/time served), so you can guess how I weld. lol
Some youtubers will not bother show their mistakes. Thats what i like about this channel.. its real. Kurtis is such a fascinating individual. Good job karen on the video👍🏼
I just love your ability to see the flat metal transformed into the 3d final product and the way you just methodically work through the issues to get the job done. Loving your work. Hats off to both of you.
It's funny, I'm not a machinist, welder, fabricator, or whatever and I love watching these videos. It's not all about the technical content, but the presentation of real, down to earth and likeable people doing an amazing job. I watch a lot of content and this channel is one of my favorites.
long time viewer here, few times commenter. Can I just say how continously impressed I am by Curtis's workmanship. Seriously impressive work, can't say I have ever viewed a nut and bolt restoration of a crane! Im seriously enjoying this series! Its a refreshing thing to see such large scale projects with zero advertisments or rubbish in the video. Just pure content. Matched with Karen's videography and photo editing skills, anyone thats tried that understands how long that takes!! Unreal guys. Much love from Darwin NT!
This an amazing project ! I love your channel. I have been watching for a long time but have not commented until now. You are a talented man Curtis and your wife is one hell of a camera person and editor. Keep up the good work !
Thank you so much for all. I have been following you for awhile and The Frana Crane project is one of my favourites series so far. Not just for all the great manufacturing and educational content, you seem as down to earth genuine nice and friendly people. We need more of this in this crazy world. I am at the moment on an extended sick leave battling cancer and in the turmoils of chemo therapy you bring a smile to my face and makes everything a little bit better! Thank you so much!
Try ivermictin (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) for your cancer. Big farm and govt doesn't want you to know about it, but some say it's the miracle drug for some cancers. Wish you the best. @@melbice9906
Hey mate we're glad to hear that the Franna Crane project has brought you some joy during this challenging time and we're wishing you all the best in your battle and being back to full health!
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering Thank you! Yes everything seems to be going great! The chemo is working and in the end of November I am starting stage 2 of my treatment with radiation therapy. I am is good spirits with a lot of help from friends and family. I will beet this and be back almost to my old self! Thank you again for your great content!
Although I enjoy watching your lathe work every week, it's never been applicable enough for my skill set for me to relate to. However I do occasionally fabricate home projects and this week's episode has been very informative in techniques that I may have either never learned or have forgotten. Thank you so much.
I am as big of a fan of cordless tools as the next guy but there is just something about using air tools that feels right for some tasks. Cutting that square tube with that pneumatic grinder is just cool.
Love the thought and expertise you bring to the projects you do. You're going to have the best designed Frana on earth when you're done. Well done mate.
This project is going to be another work of art. The sole craftsmanship speaks for itself. You have to be one of the best welders in the business. I truly love watching you work your trade. Thank you Curtis for another great video!
The attention to details! I'm no fabricator/welder/machinist/mechanic (not even sure what you are at this point, Curtis) but I can appreciate a man's pride in delivering an excellent result. Great job!
Kurtis: you did an excellent job of drawing out the sheet metal layout. And the fab of the metal parts was great. And Karen does a GREAT job of filming and editing. Both your guys are real PROS. Love the show
Hey Guys! In my experience here in Canada, when you seal tubing like that bottom strut it will rust from the inside out from condensation. I always drill and tap a small pipe plug and after paint just pour a little bit of light oil in there. The vibration will splash it around and it’ll never rot.
First?! 🤘 Two Frana-Fridays in a row! YAY! Finally the rebuild is starting and not just tearing it further apart. Greetings from Germany with a lot of rain 🇩🇪🌧🇩🇪
Don't comment much, however, this fabrication project is such a fun undertaking to watch. You are so skilled & diligent in your design & execution. Making a couple mistakes is normal and great that you show us hobbyist level folks what to look out for. Thanks for sharing this!
I must say the editing of these videos are just amazingly well done ! I just love it ❤️ kudos to the filming and editing lady!😊 And to you Curtis for actually creating the content itself!
Looking Great! I'm impressed with your skills working with metal. I can't wait for the next video. Homeless is always fun to watch. He is a very happy dog.
Everybody Loves tools that have been used a time or two - like the clamps😄. Sheet metal fabrication is really something, knowing which bend to make first an art. Greetings from Daytona Beach FL - survived Milton & cleanup here going well. Prayers 🙏🙏 for folks in Georgia & Carolinas USA. They still need... everything 🙏
Keeping that mistake in made my day. It often ruins my day when I make a mistake at work. It doesn't help that I am in a position where I have to be setting the standard for the rest of the employees. It makes me feel like I am un deserving of the title. But you keeping that in reminded me that we are all human regardless of title, position, experience or fame haha. Thank you for keeping it genuine and most of all thank you for the amazing content :) can't wait for the next upload!
