Oh. My. Fucking. God. The crowd, the gameplay, the comebacks, the commentary...this is the greatest Smash 4 I've ever seen. Everything was absolutely perfect!
Makuo D. Zero is all about the win. and will do whatever disgusting tactic it takes to get that. I'm not bashing the guy it is a tourney you should do these things. taking breaks kills momentum from wins and gives time to download opponent. Zero took every opportunity he could to do this. Also the phone calls were to zeroes coach, just as tsu was talking to his. Nothing in that was unfair. This has simply been the best set I have watched in a long time. Good job guys. and that crowd and commentary made this so enjoyable good jobs to yall as well.
Idk what you consider disgusting tactics, but I consider lucario pretty cheesy. I do think taking breaks and getting coaches makes both players play at the top of there game constantly, which creates more exciting games.
BloodLegaZ zero took a break because his nerves were in a tear. he said so himself that his hands were literally shaking when he was playing so he took a break which is LEGAL. you're allowed a 5min break, I wouldn't call that a "disgusting tactic" and he could've timed tsu out if he wanted on like duck hunt but he doesn't do that, that's "disgusting tactics".
To think that Vayseth going out of his way to bring Japanese players to the US would bring this much hype to a game that some believed wouldn't last that long in the competitive realm. Thank you for granting myself and Keitaro the opportunity to commentate this top 8. For those wondering why I keep preferring to do Smash 4 more than Melee, it's because I think more people need to give this game a chance to grow. I'm happy to see everyone's reactions to Smash 4 this weekend, and make sure to stay alert for future events leading up to EVO. We aren't done yet.
You and Keitaro's commentary combined with the crowd were a big reason why this is one of Smash 4's greatest sets. Please try to commentate with him more often.
The best part of all this was the commentary for me. I'm not well versed in Smash 4 yet but the fact you guys were losing your minds the whole time really made this set by far my favorite of all the ones I've watched. I came back twice just to watch and enjoy with you guys again. Lucario in every finals? More like D1 Keitaro every finals!
The usage of Lucario before FrostBite 2017: 6 Select people on planet earth including Tsu himself The usage of Lucario AFTER FrostBite 2017: LITERALLY EVERYONE ON FOR GLORY AND 99% OF ALL COMPETITIVE PLAYERS (The other 1% is people who meant to pick Lucario, but they accidentally picked Charizard)
Exceed YourLimit Or it lets noobs find a new way to spam. For the past hour I've been finding Lucario players all over For Glory who would get comboed hard and then throw out a frenzy of predictable smashes and aura spheres.
jarsdad Lucario seems to require way too much luck and clutch, and doesn't have any clearly advantageous match-ups. I don't think competitive players will touch him. It's not like Marth and Cloud who have clearly positive match-ups against important characters and at the very least seem able to achieve consistency. I'd like to be wrong because Lucario's one of my favorite characters, but I think the chances for even Tsu himself to have another performance like this verge on none at all.
- Chenny - Beat them up. I don't see what's annoying about having a ton of Lucarios on For Glory. I think it's cool that uncommon characters like these get attention again after a feat like Tsu occurrs. Besides, it's only going to be like that for some time before things go back to the way they were. Remember Villager when Ranai shook the world? Lucario isn't for everyone. His play on FG will die down. For now, I'm cool with practicing the matchup against the good Lucarios I come across.
even over ZeRo vs Nairo at MLG and ZeRo vs Ranai at Genesis 3? Honestly, I don't know between those two, but those two were the best sets of their respective year, so.
There are a lot of great sets, but that ZeRo vs Nairo set at MLG, it was sorta apparent that ZeRo wasn't playing at his best. He had some personal issues at the time but still, Nairo did amazing and winning was not easy. In this set, we see a completely new face in the U.S. playing a character we almost never see.
I give Ranai vs. ZeRo a slight edge over this set to be honest. There were more hype plays in this set (that aura sphere snipe was bananas), but the technical skill displayed between Ranai and ZeRo is the best I've ever seen between two players.
I didn't think it was possible for a ZeRo grand finals to be so hype (still love him), but yeah, definitely one of the best sets not just in smash 4, but across the entire series.
Without question the best set in all of Smash 4 history. And, in all honesty, the best TOURNAMENT in Smash 4 history. Awesome job to both players. I've never been so excited watching anything in my life.
but he himself didn't win - felt really bad for him actually, Zero keeps winning everything ,) Have to be on eye out for lucario but who can beat DK? Yoshi?
By far, the most hype smash 4 set I've seen to date. Holy crap, they both played out of their minds. As much as I wanted to see Tsu win, this set was still legendary.
One of the best Smash 4 sets I've ever seen. Tsu played his heart out. Two sets against ZeRo. I was really hoping that Tsu would pull it out, but still, mad props to both players for that set. ZeRo is too resilient. He kept his composure, and won. Thats why he's the best.
The most intense set of the year so far! I was on the edge of my seat! This tournament was so intense and unpredictable. I'm very excited to see what the rest of 2017 holds! :D
Ethan Flinner I think ESAM vs iStudying was the set of the year in 2016, even tho there wasn't as much on the line. just was super hype and pleasant to watch
Congrats to ZeRo for clutching it out and Tsu for making it to Grand Finals in a stack tournament, giving ZeRo trouble with Lucario. This was one of my favorite sets and most hype sets of all time, great play from both players!
This set was amazing but people were so salty in the Twitch chat it nearly ruined the moment. It doesn't really matter whether or not you like Zero; that was easily one of the best sets in Sm4sh history.
Got a big board fuck you mean he didn't deserve the win? He dominated all match and he gets killed at 50% rage lucario how is playing poorly makes you the most rightful to win?
RufusGaki In California he has huge fan base, even he was surprised how many fans he here. I'm glad I met the best player and just a stand up guy. When Tournaments are hosted here.... everyone wants him to win. :D
AngelicAbsol I think zero is a god. His play style is amazing and he is undoubtedly the best player in the game. That being said, this kinda makes him the "final boss" for many people. If you can take down the boss, you'll be a great player. And people just love cheering for underdogs!
Eh, nothing against him personally, I would just love to see someone else be the king of Smash 4 for a while. It gets boring seeing the same person win everytime.
i see people commenting how this set lost its value after the truth had been revealed, how? it doesn't change how zero played at all, this set is and will always be hype and legendary
whoever the hell is writing this script is a fucking great writer like damn this was a godly set. if I was an old man and I watched this set I would've died of a heart attack halfway through
Jefstito in melee there was long running joke that it was scripted becuase the gods won everything and only recently have begun to get challenged and the meme carried over to smash 4
Nr Shocks Abadango's first U.S. appearance wasn't as impressive as Ranai or Kameme or Tsu. Ranai got 3rd at Genesis 3, Kameme got 2nd at Evo 2016, and Tsu got 2nd here, all first U.S. tournament appearance.
They couldn't hold the set for evo 2017 grand finals BULLSHIT, but fr honestly the best smash 4 set ever even if u hate the characters they used or hate the players we all have to agree that this was so intense and made all our hearts beat rlly fast to the point where we thought we would get a heart attack congrats to both players respect for both.
A lot of neighbours probably called the police for all the screaming from the 35,000 twitch viewers back home. Shoutout to the "I NEED WATER" chat after the set ended
As a SSBU new player starting to get involved in the community, I didn’t understand why everybody complained about rage, and especially about Lucario rage + aura. Now I understand.
These are the matches that make me appreciate Zero's skill. A lot of times he just beats players but then there's times that he battles players and comes out on top and that's when I'm amazed.
When smash 4 has been out as long as melee has, imagine how developed the meta is gonna be. The game is still so young and so many characters remain undeveloped by the community. Can't wait to see what the future holds!
Etherax Because this game is similar to brawl. The mechanics are quite the same with changes here and there. I suspect if there is going to be a sequel the mechanics will be pretty similar with a few changes like Smash 4. I feel the smash 4 crowd will migrate to the new game much how the same crowd migrated to smash 4 when it came out. One reason Melee is so strong today is because of how different it is from smash 4 and brawl.
Haven't even finished the video yet although I'm certain this will be up for the set of the year. Great ups & downs, great set ups, great audience & perfect commentators.
This is the most hype I've ever been for ANYTHING Smash related. Omfg! It would have been awesome to see Tsu win, but Zero proving why he is no doubt the best player in the world.
I don't mean this in a bad way, but Smash 4 is definitely Brawl 2.0. Better balance among top tiers and no random tripping. Mechanically and strategically it's pretty much same thing.
