Thanks for the info Andrew! Do you have a video about the R9M 2019 version?
@AndrewNewton
@AndrewNewton 3 года назад
Yes I do, and I'm about to show the ACCESS version with a Q X7 radio. But I never use R9 so I'm not the best source of info

Being able to add a second Slave or Satellite reciever is also a valuable option IMO. Back when 2.4g radio was invented, 2 recievers and 4 antennas were the norm for the ultimate in antenna diversity...Maybe it would make an interesting video connected to an F405 one day?...

Not No Pulses FS Andrew, try Hold instead..with iNAV as per Pawels advice...
@Asu01
@Asu01 3 года назад
Doesn't matter. Failsafe flag is send through dedicated bit on serial communication and so failsafe channel response won't make a difference if you're using flight controller. What's the argument that HOLD is a requirement on iNAV?
@AndrewNewton
@AndrewNewton 3 года назад
Pawel was just speculating in that video. Even he didn't know if it was relevant.

That's a 2mm pitch pin strip not 2.54mm something like a JST-PH or a Harwin M22 / Molex Milli-grid would be more appropriate.
@adam.gibson

Thanks for this. The pins are shorter than normal servo pins. Do you know if there is an alternative connector that might be shorter that would connect to it? A regular servo connector doesn't seem to be as tight on it because of the shorter pins.
@AndrewNewton

Just file down the connector plastic end a little bit.

Will absolutely not support the Secretive Non rearward compatible ACCESS protocol. It's like throwing out all my previous FrSky protocols to restart with Spektrum Protocols. FrSky shot themselves in the foot with the Uniquely Stand alone ACCESS products.

@AndrewNewton

It's just a new protocol with more features and better range. I'll be reviewing a Taranis Q X7 ACCESS radio soon, and with an XJT module fitted it can run anything from ACCESS right back to D8.
@lasersbee

@@renzevenir4853 Over the years I've invested enough on the FlySky AFHDS-x and FrSky ACCST protocols that all my +25 planes and quads have installed. "Don't need no stinkin" other FrSky protocol not will i invest in one. What I'm using is just fine and paid for
@stephengloor8451
@stephengloor8451 3 года назад
As one of FrSky’s main selling points was open source firmware, hence writing a closed source protocol was was very counter productive and against the reason most people bought the radio. For that I’m very disappointed. If FrSky really wanted to produce a new safer protocol and be true to their ideals then they should have released it so it could be in OpenTX now. To me they are now just another Spectrum. This is not the first time they have done this BTW. There was a big fight with the open source community at the start I am pretty sure.
@renzevenir4853
@renzevenir4853 3 года назад
@@lasersbee Ironically enough, latest Flysky radios and module won't do AFHDS 2 and below natively, yet you don't have any word on that. Double standard much?

Hi, I changed the receiver by replacing the old xm+ with an archer rs. In the telemetry I find just RxBt, RSSI and VFR sensors. Why there are no battery sensors as A4 and Vfas? What can I check? Everything seems ok, smartport pin connected on T1, uart1 with smartport enabled, telemetry enabled, receiver configured correctly .... I don't understand what I'm missing ... 🤦‍♂️
@AndrewNewton
@AndrewNewton 3 года назад
FrSKY told me a while ago that the RS needed a firmware update to overcome some problems. Looks like it has not been released yet. www.frsky-rc.com/archer-rs/

Andrew, with my new taranis access transmiter , which receiver is best and most versatile... this or the grx8 or something else.... for glider setup. I note this is smaller and cheaper also.
@AndrewNewton

This is only for flight control boards. The G series are excellent for gliders if you want the vario but more expensive. Otherwise I like the R-X6R

Looks great but as I keep saying. My ACCST QX7 which cost me only $100 AUD just keeps chugging along .... Hard to justify a new TX. Shame they don't sell a receiver board to upgrade a QX7 to ACCESS/ACCST D16. Then I'd probably start investing in ACCESS receivers.

Where did you get that number, @MAD GRUMPYMAN? The Archer RS is currently selling at $19.99 on horusrc.com. Clearly cheaper than XF nano. And not sure about your situation, but here size matters and anything larger than XM+ won't do the job for more than half of my fleet.

There are plenty of smaller FlySky compatible receivers out there too. A quick search for 'flysky receiver' on Banggood finds a half dozen or so around this size that are compatible with the i6/i6X.

Vey nice but competely uselless to me because I elected to dump FRSKY after being a loyal customer since the original X9D came out. FRSKY have forgotten that their brand was build on the back of OPEN TX and making inexpensive receivers. Now that they have got greedy, closed the doors and started putting their prices up, all they have done is moved themselves in to the JR slot. Depreciating D8 mode on their transmitters was also a big mistake because it made me replace my old X9D with a Radiiomaster TX16s instead of a shiny new 2019 edition. Good bye FRSKY You were the 'go to' brand but you're rapidly going in the direction of JR now!
