I also have a big investment in ACCST stuff. If I buy new equipment for a new protocol it's going to be Crossfire.

Dude, use TBS's exchange program! I just got my Crossfire v2 module and 7 nano receivers FOR HALF PRICE! With their exchange program! It's awesome! Google TBS Crossfire exchange, or something similar! Easy to do, easy to get their new gear! I'm a huge fan now because of this and just the way everything came together so seamlessly! Kinda like updating all Crossfire gear - effortless! 😍🤘 Now they are SMART! 🤔👍

Just recently scrapped all my frsky gear and swapped 25 quads to crossfire and tango 2 as I had a non access setup. As I had to buy new stuff no way would I ever consider frsky again after this access crap. But I'm super happy with crossfire. The range is incredible and binding/updating is so much easier.

It’s amazing how easy binding and updating crossfire is, I didn’t even see that as a big deal until the first time I used it and wow it’s so much better than doing the 3 handed button hold while powering up to bind and pulling out receivers to update firmware 😂

Me to. As and old Frsky user I feel Frsky just doesn't give a nickle to keep old users faithful without using money. TBS took away the 'cheapest' argument from Frsky to, so they have nothing more to go on. Cf is still compatible with older radios to, so I think everybody who wants to keep theyre perfectly working, good old radio is at least considering cf now instead. It's stupid not to, if you want the safest range.

I am using a Graupner MX-16, have been flying fixedwing aircrafts for 3 years now. Had never a problem with range or anything. And now, starting with multirotors, I fly in my garden (Geprc rocket, changed it to analog), and after like 10 meters it failsafes due to signalloss. Any ideas why? Might it be that the antennas somehow interfere each other (they´re pretty close to each other)? And now I am thinking about buing crossfire, hoping that my range would improve. Does anyone know, if Crossfire supports Graupner?
@loc4725
@loc4725 4 года назад
@@honixfpv2772 Without seeing your setup it's impossible to know for sure but an analogue receiver? That aside having antennas too close to each other or to anything conductive for that matter can seriously reduce your range. As for Graupner, I'd suggest probably not although you'd be better off asking that question in a Graupner user forum.

I’ve strangely had two xm plus lose radio connection mid flight to a no fix situation. Also bought a rxsr that doesn’t connect at all. It is properly pinned and de-pinned. I bought three more xm plus.... was educated on Frsky practices, and bought into Crossfire. The kit should be here next week. First crsf build is the @FPVcycle PowerPick 4 w/ the new 2203 motors. I went form higher end spektrum gear to top shelf frsky and to be honest I won't be buying back in to either company... I love my horus and hate the crossfire cripple they did to it and I still have my spektrum kit, but if I'm going to invest in another closed loop company again I'm going to go with TBS the crossfire kit has never done me wrong and at its price point is on par with the rest of the top shelf gear you really do pay for what you get and TBS has never done is wrong like frsky has in recent months... I hope they get there BS figured out and there greed takes a back shelf to doing what they did best but that wishful thinking... sadly... Thank you for your reviews, time and honesty! 🥃cheers🍻

I’m totally with you. Honestly I love my Taranis 2015. I have a huge investment like many other pilot on X receivers, luckily I have a few of them spare so I can continue to build a couple new models. I also bought some R9 and using the flex firmware can be still used with accst. Frsky has done alot good for this hobby over the past years, I really loved the price/performance aspect and flexibility. I have been loyal to them, sadly I feel I have been “repaid” by being dumped out in the cold. Not cool Frsky. I really don’t like the idea to buy a new radio just to use new receivers and if Frsky does not change its mind I will be definitely moving to CRSF.

I bought my original FrSky Taranis X9D+ many years ago (about 2012-13 I think). I've never updated its FW. I did try to do that once, but it screwed up all the models I had stored, and none of them worked properly after the FW update ... so I flashed it back to the original v2.0.9 (???) but then still had to adjust all the models, as the attempt at doing the FW update screwed up some of each model's parameters. I swore I'd never make myself go thru that painful experience again. I guess, as long as they continue to make XM+ Rxs, I will be okay if the rest of the FrSky world moves on without me. That's the way its always been in RC. I remember when multi-channel reed sets came out ... sort of ended the single channel days. Then proportional units came out and ended the days of reed/relay systems. Then there was the shifts from 27mhz to 72mzh to 2.4 ghz . Something 'NEW' is always around the corner. Thanks for keeping us old dinosaurs up to date Lee .... Cheers.

Yup, thumbs up to this post. Anybody that's been around awhile knows that tech marches on. Spektrum, JR, and Futaba have all left people stranded with older protocols. FrSky won't put themselves out of business with this. They are the dominant player with ever improving quality and performance.
@loc4725
@loc4725 4 года назад
@@sit-and-fly7785 A lot of people brought JR, Futaba & Spektrum but jumped to FrSky. It begs the question why did they change given how expensive (and 'great') all those radios & receivers were? If you know the answer to that you'll understand why FrSky doesn't have the strong position you think it does and why they're likely to haemorrhage customers like me for quite some time. And while I'm at it just look at all the comments pushing Crossfire. The tide is turning and FrSky is starting to look like they're in a tidal pool, one which is drying out fast.

Yes....FrSky expects it's costumers to have knowledge while failing to put out information needed to acquire it. Down hill from here I'm afraid which is sad as I thought I was getting on an elevator when I got the X10S. Trying to rule the World never works unless people want it....
@PhilFord51
@PhilFord51 4 года назад
Of course if you use a PC to back up your models you could just rewrite your models back again. Same goes for firmware. I am a JR user and have been for years but when they gave up DSM2 and split from Spektrum sharing for the DMSS protocol I thought if my tX goes down I have no way of backing up nearly 30 models. Frsky was my salvation and now the system for my big and small electric planes. Golden rule - back up, back up.

Same thing happened to me. I added an upgrade ISRM module and passed on the para module. I can run both D16 and access now with my old x10s transmitter. I have in the interim invested in a Crossfire for long range. I keep wondering whether FRSky is viable any longer hanging us out to dry.

This is exactly why I bought a multi protocol TX. When I started, I loved FrSky, I loved their radios and loved the accst protocol but because what they've done this passed years with the whole Jumper and Radiomaster radios, plus ignoring us pilots who have invested in D8 and D16 over the years, I stopped buying their radios and going with Crossfire. If I'm gonna start investing again in a new protocol, TX's and receivers, might as well be with a company that won't hurt their consumers. Team Black Sheep, here I come!!!!!

Thanks for showing us this. But Frsky burned a bridge with me. Left me holding all of my ACCST gear and then said bye, bye. Or, said buy all new stuff from us, and continue on with Frsky. *Me, I said goodbye to Frsky.* They made absolutely no effort to keep me as a customer. No, ACCST users, we value you, so trade in your old radio and get a new ACCESS radio for half price. Nothing... not even 5% off. No, buy a new ACCESS radio and we'll give you 25% off on new receivers for it.. Nothing! ZERO! So, when TBS said, trade in your R9 module and R9 receivers for up to 50% off Crossfire modules and receivers I said SURE! Sign me up! Got them delivered last Monday! 😁👍 Frsky showed me, and everyone else who loved their gear, that they didn't love us loving their gear! So, because of that, I'M GONE! Sure, I'll continue to use my old receivers with my perfectly fine QX7 with upgraded gimbals. But as far as buying ONE MORE PRODUCT FROM FRSKY - NO WAY! Someone give me the money and still - FORGET IT FRSKY! It's the principle behind it. They showed no interest in us moving on with them! Just "Buy our new gear, because your old, perfectly fine gear, is no longer compatible, moving forward!" Frsky, you reading this? I'm 63 years old, so I've been around the block, and actually was in the electronics business for well over 35 years. I have never seen a company who virtually OWNED the market, alienate long term customers SO COMPLETELY... IN MY LIFE! I'll bet your market share DUMPS in the next year, you've pissed off sooooo many users since this "leave us behind" fiasco! I've seen bad business decisions many times before, but this one TAKES THE CAKE! From market leader to hated in no time at all! Frsky, you are DEAD TO ME! ☠️

Scoot Roter: Same age and views. I'll still use my old Frsky receivers and keep my X9D and Q7 radios. But I jumped ship to the Jumper T16 and now the RadioMaster T16s. I also bought clone versions of Frsky receivers. Frksy didn't like being "frskyed" by Jumper and gave the finger to its loyal customers, by changing to a proprietary system to stop cloning of their equipment. Massive dose of hypocrisy and irony there! 😊

There is one HUGE difference between when FrSky released the X series ACCST protocol and now with the release of the ACCESS protocol. When they released the X series protocol their transmitters also supported their existing D series protocol receivers (including the V series that were able to bind in D mode). With the release of the ACCESS protocol they gave a great big Screw You middle finger to all of their user base who were flying D and ACCST X series receivers. They did relent and provide some X series ACCST support in their ACCESS transmitters, but are still waving their middle finger at those of us who own a large number of D series receivers. Note that the new transmitters COULD support the D series protocol, but FrSky choose not to. It doesn't end there. When FrSky released the bug fix / upgraded X series protocol ACCST 2.x they again tried to lock out the rest of the world with a lie. They told us that in addition to the bug fix the new 2.x protocol also included greater security. The lie is that the greater security was only in the bind sequence - the control link had essentially the same level of security as ACCST 1.x. Fortunately, the 2.x protocol has been cracked and is now available on the multi-protocol radio modules used in Jumper, RadioMaster and plug-in modules for other radios with a JR style module bay. I may try ACCESS if/when it is cracked and included in the MPM project firmware. Until then it is unavailable to me as I am not buying an ACCESS only radio.

@@conradtaggart9959 The best that I can determine, of the X series receivers only RX4R, RX6R, G-RX6, G-RX8 and R-XSR have ACCESS firmware. When Frsky first released the Taranis 5 years ago it was a game changer. OpenTX is super powerful and the radio quickly became a staple for parts of the hobby thanks to its huge 'value for money'. Many pilots feel that FrSky have lost their way and stopped listening to their customers and giving them what they want. By not giving pilots a decent Taranis replacement with colour screen, modern internals, support for things like TBS Crossfire and support for ALL their protocols out of the box, frsky have left enough of a gap in the market for players like Jumper and Radiomaster to make a good living. Frsky stuff is still good but for many pilots who have used their products for a long time feel let down and dissapointed by recent decisions by the company that limit interoperability with 3rd party and legacy Frsky products. My daily driver is still an Frsky X9D+ Taranis... see my kit picks video for more detail... happy flying

Many pilots are peeved because FrSky has started to become fat, lazy and restrictive, i.e. everything they weren't when they started out. Lots of people have noticed the quality of some of their gear isn't what it used to be whilst the competition just keeps getting better and better. And apparently in response to that FrSky's decided to stiff existing customers and introduce a new protocol (ACCESS) which ironically prevents other manufactures from producing either compatible transmitters or receivers. It also renders all previous receivers useless with the new firmware / more modern radios, so if you have a sizable FrSky investment *too bad for you.* Better go out and buy new ACCESS replacements! And then there's their anticompetitive business practices...

Joe Caraco I have been flying JR since 01. When I got interested in quads I had 4 great radios, purchased one new and three from buddies who upgraded or had to get out of the hobby So with three grand worth of radios, needless to say I was happy with top of the line gear. Fast forward and the ability to hear battery voltage, rssi, and so forth I purchased a X9lite, then found this change from FrSky just came out. The new breed of radios are far less expensive, far more programmable, and have access to all the goodies that programmers can come out with, but my old fashioned JR gear is what my multi thousand dollar giants fly with. So short version = money. Proven track record. Quads crash.....a lot, big fixed wings not too often. Inexpensive fits the quads better than a radio that you could buy 4 to 10 of the new jumpers or X7 class radios.

FrSky's gear is becoming unreliable, they're starting to stiff loyal customers and their radios are starting to look increasingly expensive vs. the competition. And it's because of those reasons I've started to look at alternatives; I tried a FlySky receiver (X6B) for the first time yesterday. I'm using PWM so had to make a power distribution board from stripboard (now there's a video idea) but overall I liked it. Even with the antennas crossed and in a less-than-optimal orientation the RSSI started at 99 and only dropped to 86 once 20ft away and behind two brick walls in a very noisy (WiFi) environment. I found the onboard voltage measurement acceptable and given what you get (RSSI, battery monitoring, 6 PWM channels, apparently good range) the receiver was very cheap (

I was accused of projecting my opinion and bashing FrSky, because in reality, it was just a side effect, whether intended or unintended. Nearly in the same sentence, however, he compared themselves to Microsoft, and SPI board makers to software pirates. A side effect indeed... The ironic tragedy is that "FrSky" integrated whoops were the last bastion of hope for FrSky, and they burned the house down to kill a fly.

Does Frsky not realise how they are shooting themselves in the foot big time? If people have to go to other manufacturers like Jumper in order to carry on using all of their Frsky receivers going forward. Talk about making it easy for these multi-protocol tx manufacturers to come in and steal the market from Frsky. It really sucks that if i want to go out and buy an upto date Frsky receiver, it means messing about re-flashing my radio, and breaking all my other models in the process. I love Frsky gear, but they are doing their hardest to make me move away from them in the future. And with regards to newcomers to the hobby, well, if they are like i was a few years back when i got into the hobby, they will research online which is the best to go for - when i did my research Frsky won hands down. But now that Frsky have created so many negative comments against them, i wonder if i would have made the same decision to go with Frsky if i was starting out today? I don't think so. I would be thinking radiomaster or Jumper. Frsky are going to lose sales for many years to come over this mess.

They think they have enough credit to expect people to move along with their suggested upgrade path. But don't realize that the versatility of FrSky has been one of the main things that made them so popular. With Access this simple versatility gets changed into a mess of non-compatible hardware and firmware, and since the competition, like Jumper and Radiomaster offer more simple solutions at a competitive price point, even people who've been using FrSky for years, will consider moving to a different brand.

Did they make people cry like that back then too? It would do you good not to invest your money in fancy headstraps for your HD0, 3D printers and cool shirts and caps, then the money will be enough for investments in technology. In general it is alarming that with the current RX prices anyone is complaining. Besides, the FPV market is not FrSky's main source of income... there are plenty of others who deal with it.
