A lot of people don’t like that the FrSky Taranis X-Lite doesn’t have any momentary switches, but it does, 8 of them in fact. There are several ways you can setup the D-Pad trim switches as momentary switches. This video covers one of those ways and shows how it works if you want to use the Prearm feature in Betaflight.

Instead of deleting the sound files you can also simply disable trim for the channels in the flight modes tab.

Way easier to disable trim in flight mode 0 then you're good to go to assign them as regular switches without alarms

Combine what DR101 is doing to set up the switch/mix/weight but use what Kyle is suggesting with Flight Modes to disable the trim functions. It cleans up the graphic home screen of the trims, disables the sounds without deleting them. @@ProofBenny

So for all the other buttons choose these values on mixer: left trim: Ail tAl right trim: Ail tAr up trim: Ele tEu down trim: Ele tEd

Thanks.. I never even knew what pre arm ment. And I use to gave a habbit of putting radio under arm before I picked up drone. Few scares I changed habit. Lol thanks!

Hey Mark! Have you run into any issues when doing this with crossfire receivers? For some reason the prearm just stays armed in betaflight when I'm using the internal crossfire with the xlite. Not sure what Im doing wrong, everything else is exactly the same. Thanks for your videos!

Don't delete the sounds. Go into flight modes in companion and select "trim disabled" for your aileron. No more sounds or slider moving on screen. You could put "_old" at end of wav file also, so you don't lose the files. credit to the man...Kilrah: github.com/opentx/opentx/issues/3190

How do you switch from left to right on the trim adjustment? I'm stuck on one side and not sure how to switch to the other side to make adjustments.

I won't be able to use this feature if my Rx is set to only 8 channels (arm, mode, buzzer, rssi), is that right? I would need to flash the 16 ch firmware?

I really need your help with the 3 position switches. I have all my channels set up in the mixer for the xlite but for some reason the beta flight is only reading the low and middle value for my 3 position switches. 1000-1500. It's not reading low, middle and high as it's supposed to.

On the output screen of your radio does it show all three positions?

DroneRacer101 Output screen? Do you mean the mixer set-up? Yes it does. It's just not showing the high position in beta flight. Beta flight is showing 986 low 1500 middle. My values in Beta flight for min, middle and high are 1000,1500,2000. Also the Tx is updated to the latest firmware from Frsky website.

If wanting to keep the trim functions/sounds, you could replace the right side 2 position switch with an actual momentary switch. Or just use that right side switch as your pre-arm, though you'd have to remember to cycle it back once you've armed.

I'm glad I watched this. New to the hobby and the other day I was picking up my quad and accidentally bumped arm switch and the props smacked the crap out of my fingers. No cuts luckily.

Instead of playing around with rates, leave the mixer stock as is but set input to max and then select the trim switch, then it goes from 0 to max at every button press.

My accidental arm safety feature is to bump up the throttle after I disarm. Can’t rearm without throttle at 0

Hi, thank you for the tricks, Im using now momentary switch for prearming even as switch to trigger the buzzer. Question: Apart of trim midpoint min and max point, which i have removed from sound system. Is there a way to mute the beep for trim steps ? Thank you again.

I’m sure you can. Look on the SD-Card for something called beep, or chirp maybe, there are only a few thousand files. You can find it. :-)

Mikey Richard same here, the X-lite is such a better radio. I changed all my RX's to the XM+ and I'm flying much further then with the evolution. OpenTX takes a little getting use to but it's kinda easy once you see a few good videos about it.

Why you choose Ail for the switch? Does it matter or you choose anything and when you assign that swith in BF it just becomes a prearm switch?

I used the left Aileron Trim because that is the left button on the D-Pad if you don't press shift. You could use any of them. What is important is what channel you assign it to in your radio. In this case I used 5 which is Aux 1. You could use any channel for this. You just have to make sure it matches.
