Appreciate the golden nuggets of wisdom in your setup advice! Roll and Vertical Rotation settings are indeed crucial and seem to vary with the physical arrangement of one's monitors. With my 3x27 setup, the configurations differ slightly. And the tip about scaling down from 4k is pure gold-what a game-changer! Thanks for elevating our rig configurations!

I am having a challenge getting the 3 windows set on each of my 3 55" monitors. I've figured it out with overlaps - the main screen peeks into the side screens by about 2". Might be overthinking it cause it looks fine. But the bezel kit looks cool. Any thoughts from listeners appreciated.

Great VID, love the setup. You mentioned you weren't sure why some people would angle the side monitors the way they did. Maybe I can shed some light on that. I'm what you could call a lazy gamer. I don't sit in a regular gaming chair that is upright. I usually sit in my recliner and have my controls moved where I need them so I can be comfortable. The main reason I angle mine is because I'll be at an angle from reclining so they will have to be adjusted to the focal points a little different than if I were to sit upright and straight.

I literally got my triple screen setup working today. As a simmer using the near-study level WB Sim add-on for the Cessna 172, I am using FS2020 to build skills and knowledge ahead of embarking on my PPL. Three screens is a must-have for this, without doubt. I spent a few hours playing with the perspective settings and came to the same conclusions as yourself - that it's all about the eyeball position of the pilot. The only thing I am still struggling with is my right screen - I just can't quite get the perspective of the last few inches of the cockpit panel to align with the centre. Another point to mention, is the difference when choosing to centre oneself right in the middle of the cockpit as if there was only one yoke in dead centre. This kinda feels better overall but it isn't an accurate representation of the 172 cockpit layout. End of the day, if you're using FS2020 for flight training, small inaccuracies across 3 screens becomes almost unnoticeable. One last comment to make is despite copying your settings in FS2020 and in NVIDEA, my frame rates are not good and I am using a RTX 3060 ti. I will keep tinkering. Thanks so much for your content on triple screens - it has helped me loads.

I am so glad you find value in my videos . I thank you for watching. I'm sorry you can't get the right screen to fit.i wish we could do like a screen share and troubleshoot. I have a discord channels set up .we only have a few members . If I can grow that community maybe we can all hop in there and help each other out with individual issues. I am also on my way to a ppl. I have no hard timeline but I myself am also using the 172 WB to simulate reality. Lastly , I like what you're saying about centering the in-game view in the center screen perfectly but only if I then get to slide over and sit biased to the left of my main screen . Lol I would need 80 inch screens to make this feel accurate but it is not out of the realm of reality . Here's a secret , don't tell my wife ......one day ...I will upgrade to triple 75 or 80 inch screens ....just wait ... 😂 😆 🤣 ( If she reads this post my sim room will mysteriously go up in flames )
@_PSantos
@_PSantos Год назад
I totally agree on the position of the pilots' chair, in my opinion it should be to the most left of the cockpit giving it a more accurate view of the 16«72 cockpit (or any other plane for that matter. But it´s just my point of view. Let us know how that goes and post some pictures or videos.
@emileguertin

@@DaSimSimma Okay so I played some more (admittedly on my 3 x 32inch) and, now I am flying the study level Piper Arrow III from Justflight, I need to position myself dead centre of cockpit to visually sync best with the 3 screens to create most comfortable experience. I can shift over the left again for cruise, but being centre also represents my physical relationship to my 3 screens.

Thanks for these awesome videos. Question, if I may: How did you get the scenery AND instrument panels to align so well? I fly the Horizon 787-9 with the default instrument panel and 3 monitor Volair Sim chassis, and if the horizon is straight across the 3 monitors, the flight deck structure and instrument panel on the right and left monitors are at absurd angles. You seem to have nailed in with your Airbus video. Thanks for any information. PS. Volair Sim monitor mounts are fixed at 25-30 degrees. I’ve watched Russ Barlow and still can’t get any results. Thanks!

Very helpfull video. And great sim you've got there ! Really looking forward to having one like this one day, for the winter, when flying is not easy in the northern hemisphere. Great job ! Although, while recently fiddling with this MSFS feature, I thought a bit about how you understood it. And I'm not sure you are right about the lateral rotation offset parameter. Because, if you draw a triple monitor setup from above, you'll find out that your point of view is always at the same angle from the center to a side screen, as your side screen angle from the center one. If your head is on the center of this "screens arc", these two angles will always be the same. In fact, MSFS doesn't know the real life dimensions of one's screens, and therefore, its in game field of view doesn't match one's real life field of view. It only matches it when one actually sets up screens 90° apart from one another and sits right in the middle of them. Which makes me think that MSFS approximately shows an image with a 90°-ish field of view (45° left + 45° right) for each screen, which is more or less what you can easily get IRL with your giant screens 👍🙂. But this is also why one has to get the lateral rotation offset parameter close to 90° (you got 88°), in order not to have an image gap between screens. I remember that X-Plane allowed fiddling with the field of view when rendering a new window. You can do it in MSFS too, if you tune the zoom parameter in general graphic options. This is the only way (at the moment), to get the in game FOV, close to the real life FOV, whatever the size of one's screens. That's it. Sorry for the geometrics lesson, I know it can be boring. But for those who are using less bigger screens than yours, it's important to know that they're not gonna set a lateral rotation offset parameter even close to their real life head angle from one screen to another. It will be close to 90° anyway, regardless of the angle or size of the screens.

Thank you so much for such an in-depth explanation ! This is my second attempt at a reply since I'm using speak to text while I'm doing something else. My last attempt ended up half in English half in Romanian...lol...don't ask ! I think you make very very valid points. I do agree with you that at the end of the day will arrive at 90. But then again that makes what I said correct too that it's in reference to your eye point 90° from Center seems to bring both side screens into alignment. I also understand and agree with you that if you use the scroll wheel on the mouse you can zoom in and out and change the field of view therefore adjusting the overlap further to reduce or enhance it. The very disappointing thing about this whole situation is that I had to come up with my own explanation and you had to come up with your own also. That is very sad when you think that this triple screen technology has been around for over a decade. In that many other games out there provide this technology and in a way that it's very easy to understand and relatable to real life. I am also very annoyed, that after reading such an in-depth explanation is yours, I am still slightly confused. And that is not a reflection of how you described it but a reflection of how confusing things are set up by microsoft. The fact that this is becoming an interpretive dance rather than facts is it the core of the whole problem. Anyways, I really do appreciate such effort that you put into explaining and if you find out more or if you have a way of clarifying further for me I would be glad to hear some more theories. I'm no way deflecting your proposal but rather admitting defeat : either this thing clearly doesn't make sense or I am not intelligent enough to understand this unnecessarily difficult issue before us . Happy flight my friend . Please come back often and continue to provide your insight !

@@DaSimSimma Yeah, flight simulation... always been a bad sheep in terms of ergonomy or easy to use interface stuff ! When you realize we had to wait untill MSFS to get nice light reflection effects and be able to fly at 30fps without needing a state of the art computer to run a flight sim, you really measure how deep is the problem with flight sims etc... And believe me, I'm a train driver in France, the sims used for training are still ten to twenty years late in terms of graphics, when professional aviation simulator makers can afford to keep up improving a little. But through the years it's getting better and better ! Thanks for your answers ! Have some good flying and driving !

@@bodyspike Being that it is a rotation and not a slide or zoom I'm no sure it helps with different size screens. The image simply rotates on a pivot that is the center of the screen . If the screens were already a different size ....the projected image would be a different size there for rotating wouldn't provide better alignment because the images are already misaligned by scale. I'm not challenging your statement but you added another kink to the never ending triple screen drama within fs2020. Of course I wanted 120 hertz but ...3 , 4k tv running at 120 hz it means 4k triple screen at 120 fps. No graphics card out there can run fs2020 at 120fps . The 4090 with DLSS 3.0 night get close. All of that to say , of course I want OLED 120HZ tv but I settled for middle of the road. Second was size consideration . I think 55 to 65 is the sweet spot. Any bigger and it looks out of scale in real life. Any smaller and you might as well buy a gaming monitors at 1440p .it sounds to me like I should make a video to walk through all these ideas ....thanks for asking !

It's funny that you ask this question. I enjoy it exactly the same as the first day. I actually keep investing in it every so often. Getting better and better gear. It's a bit of a disease. Next stop on the menu is a better computer motion simulation in OLED 65-in screens. I don't intend to stop any day. The other reason this is interesting is because I've also considered the Sim rig versus getting a pilot's license. One of my friends at work has a license and it's an absolutely amazing feeling to enjoy the fruit of his labor with him. Unfortunately that hobby is a lot more expensive than just a pilot's license, and I'm sure you already know that. No, the point is to extend the side views below the bottom of the middle screen. Traditional three-screens-in-a-line setups are compromised by having the middle screen mounted high, usually high enough to clear a yoke. This seriously compromises the side views because it restricts the downwards visibility. You can mitigate this by mounting the side screens lower, but then you start to lose the top of the view. Putting your side screens in portrait orientation is another option, but the 'twisted' display gives a great compromise in my experience. The video linked by the OP was just an experiment to see if MSFS can now do this as well as P3D View Groups. The benefits are more obvious in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1KmY397X9LY.html

Hi. I've seen the specs in your description and would just like to ask something about the graphics card and monitors please. Is the card the standard 3080 (10GB) or is it the TI with more memory. How many outputs does it have and what are they and what connections are on the screens, ie is it display port to HDMI; display port to display port. etc Would you consider doing a video on choice of screens - not the size but other factors that affect performance (I've read somewhere that some screens can have a latency that can make images lag and the specs of the monitors which look complicated when you read them are difficult to understand and can make a big difference). Kind regards

Wouldn't Vertical rotation offset (or a combo of vertical + roll) help with what I like to call the "waterfall" effect that you talked about at 3:20 (when you sit too high/low)? As an avid sim racer I'm also well aware of the importance of getting your eyeline at screen center...for older sims (AMS1, AC). For most modern sims with good triple support, you have the option of adjusting where your eyeline is, so you won't get that warped waterfall effect on the side monitors (iRacing, Raceroom and a couple others all have settings to account for this)...I think it's called Horizon offset in iRacing. I drive mostly modern F1 type cars and have positioned my rig to have that kind of layout (reclined seating position, wheel positioned high), so my eyeline is very low relative to the center of the monitor. I've been trying to decide whether to buy MSFS for years now, I tried it briefly when it first released and they didn't have multiple rendering then, so I said I'm not paying for it until it does. MSFS is on sale now for a week so now I'm reconsidering, but if there's no way to compensate for a horizon mismatch then I might have to skip it again, as I barely do any flying compared to racing.

When you have multiple monitors and you bring up a new aircraft, you have to reconfigure the left and right window to align with the center window. I would think that flight Simulator should be able remember each rendering window for each aircraft. Am I missing anything?

I'm certain what you described is happening but it shouldn't be. That's not how mine behaved. If I set my view in one plane , it applies to all planes. Hmmm...I'm so intrigued as to why IG is happening to you . To be clear once more...once you set up triple screen once, it should work for all planes

I am just in the planning stages of building a home sim and I am trying to get my displays correct. Did I understand you correctly? Did you say your side displays were at 72 degrees from the front display? I have seen other C-172 sims set ups (on youtube) with the side displays at 90 degrees. I have some actual time in a C-172 and when looking out the side window, the wing appear pretty close to perpendicular to the fuselage. Wouldn't setting the displays at a 72 degree angle skew this appearance? One of the reasons I am concerned about this is setting up the displays at such angles would increase the width of the sim considerably.
@DaSimSimma
@DaSimSimma 8 месяцев назад
You have to think of a from two different angles. On one hand it's the angles of the physical side screens in relation to the center screen. On the other hand there are the angles that you can adjust in the simulator The angles of your TV's in real life depend on you in the amount of space that you have. In order to feel amorous that is recommended that you wrap them around you as much as you can all the way up to 90 degrees . The simulator itself allows you to account for your own settings so that you can get it to look correct. You have to be careful when trying to match my settings exactly those things really work for me in my situation but there are so many variables that they might not exactly translate to what you want to do. The whole point in my answer is : you are not locked into a certain measurement you can do whatever you want as long as you mess with the settings and get them to look good in the end

I'm so sorry I'm not sure what a triple head2go is... But be careful any graphics card that doesn't have three to four HDMI or display port outputs on the end is probably an older card. Even my new 3080 struggles to render 3 screens . As seen in most of my videos I'm getting anywhere from 30 to 50 fps and that is barely adequate. Be carefully before you spend the money , make sure your you can handle 3 screens

@DaSimSimma
@DaSimSimma 6 месяцев назад
Hi friend, this question comes up quite often. I don't expect you to go back and read every comment but the answer is pretty simple. You have to go on Amazon and order yourself a cable that starts off as display port and ends up as HDMI. They make those cables. But you must be extremely careful. I am not lying to you. When I tell you that I ordered over 15 cables. Some will say that they handle the high bit rate at 4k and 60 hertz but they will not. Furthermore, the problem you're going to have is if your TVs can handle 120 hertz those cables are going to be even more rare to come by. They will be available. They might be expensive and they might have to be sent back a couple times until you get ones that work properly. The way you know a cable doesn't work is literally no image comes out so don't get frustrated. That's just how it works. Please come back here and let me know after you've resolved this issue. I'm very curious and very excited for you to get this going

Please explain a little bit more. When you say two screens. What do you mean to screens? Do you mean you can only activate two in the game or only two of the screens work from the graphics card? Please let me know. It's not enough. By the way, you should be able to run three screens with no problem. One of your settings is messed up either in the game or in the Nvidia control panel. @DaSimSimma
@DaSimSimma 6 месяцев назад
The size of the monitors has nothing to do with the settings in the game. A monitor can be 10 inches across in B4K or it can be 80 in across and still be 4k. Certain monitors have a certain max resolution. You just have to understand what the resolution is of each monitor first
@tub1965

what gpu would you recommend..?4080 minimum...?
@DaSimSimma
@DaSimSimma Год назад
I'm running a 3080 and am not complaining . Of course a 4080 or 4090 would be that much better . Please be aware, and I did not know this for a long time, that you better have a beefy CPU like a I-9 13000. Something related to the amount of computational power needed to create all those images before they are sent to the gpu. Come to find out that the CPU is the actual bottleneck of this game. It often cannot calculate enough and send to the GPU and it appears that the game stutters. The other problem with beefing up your CPU and thinking that it's going to use all the 26 cores or however many cores it has. Even when you get a beefy CPU it will only use one of the cores but if that core is beefy then you're that much further ahead and everybody else. Forgive me if this doesn't make sense I am regurgitating what I've heard over and over and the information seems to add up.

Hi sir thanks for video as I am buying 2 more monitor . But I have 2 queries 1. I have 1080 p monitor and if I buy two or same resolution . My aliasing settings will be same ? 2. I am cinematic video creator of MSFS . so if have 3monitor . How can I record using obs recorder . Please advise
@DaSimSimma
@DaSimSimma Год назад
Hi friend : the settings could be the same but : if you are only using 1080 you might be able to turn up the anti aliasing settings. Making it look a bit better. It depends on your graphics card and what it can handle. Start with my type of settings and keep turning it up as you computer can handle . 2. This is a bit more complicated . OBS will be a drag on your resources . There's no way around it . Tell it to capture the center window only . Here is why : every video on RU-vid is a 16:9 format . Capturing the ultra wide 3 monitor screen will be very difficult and of no use . Most of the action happens on the center screen anyways. I alsoI highly recommend downloading GeForce experience and using that to record. That only works if you have a Nvidia card. The reason it is better is because it captures the video directly from the graphics card right as you see it using almost NO Video RESOURCE! Sometimes when I record , I loose 1 fps but sometimes I feel like I don't lose any !!! That is how good it performs . Obs comes after and uses more resources . The way I explain it , is the way I use it to record my footage. I also use a lot of go pro video in first person so I don't relay strictly on screen capture. I hope this helps if not , I am here . Let me know

@DaSimSimma
@DaSimSimma 5 месяцев назад
You need three HDMI outputs because the video card needs to understand how to put out three different video signals. Some laptops can put out video signal through the USBC port. Depending on what you're talking about. If you have an older graphics card then it's not possible

I do agree that 75 would be too big . Hi, thanks for the video !! I was in the process of trying to set-up my 3 x 32" (slightly curved). Although I'd like to know if it's just for me, but the whole thing seems bugged, when I try to create new windows and then play with settings, it's like the game duplicates them in the options, without creating new ones. And of course, when I delete those unwanted new options, it deletes the real windows and the work is gone. This is driving me crazy...not to mention, windowed mode doesn't always work, and I can't move the 3rd window to the 3rd screen...did the last update completely f*cked the experimental thing ? Very frustrating start, I was so happy to find your video, and unless it's an operator problem, Microsoft disappointment strikes again. Take care !

What you are describing has been happening since day one and has not been fixed. I'm not going to offer you any solutions because I don't have any but instead I'm going to go on a bitching session. Just so you know last night I literally screamed out loud. As an educated and decently calm person, I literally screamed out loud sweared, turned off the PC and remove all of my flying peripherals. I then decided to drive because those games never crash. How does a game stay out for 4 years and the basic things still break. This was by far the most amazing game to ever be attempted but the execution is absolutely shit and crap. And I'm using those words on purpose. Hoping that somebody reads them. I spent hours upon hours upon hours. Frustrated with this stupid game. And what hurts the most is that I've decided to invest thousands of dollars in my setup. Just this week I bought a fully working g1000 Garmin replica. Can you imagine the frustration? Last night when I went to use it again and nothing worked. Okay, I'm done with my bitching session. Thank you again and I'm sorry I can offer you no solutions. I tried to be a good flight simulator citizen early on when I made this video but this game is complete crap. And lastly, I can't wait till they release their stupid new flight simulator which is intended for kids and has all sorts of awesome little missions for kids to do like putting off fires and rescuing VIPs off of mountain or some other crap. They can't figure out how to get the game right but they definitely can figure out how to get you to give them another $100

Outfitting my Fokker D7F sim pod with wraparound monitors of the size I'd need is super expensive. And they are big and heavy which would make it hard to get in and out of the pod. // I did learn of two new VR headsets with a sufficiently wide IPD and one has adjustable binocular lenses so I won't need to buy prescription lens inserts. It's also very lightweight as headsets go. It doesn't have the best graphics on the market but it's still very good and certainly good enough for my purposes.
