I love playing in VR the immersion is so much bigger, but you're spot on when it comes to doing multiplayer and swapping seats, a 3 screen setup is just way more practical...and...it looks good!

Came over here from a mention on Boosted Media. Glad I did! Great reviews! I agree with you regarding VR. I tried it for a bit, and it was really nice. I could spot my turn in points and apexs more accurately with VR, but the lack of peripheral vision in VR kills me. Even with triple 27 inch screens instead of 55s like you have, I still prefer the screens over VR.

Great tip Karl on bezel adjustment. Adjusting Bezels ONLY on center monitor and zero out the left/right was key to me getting ams2 setup/lined up correctly on triples in case anyone else is struggling. At least it worked for me.

Great video Karl and it's great to see you have also spent the time to calculate the correct screen angles according to the panel distance, which in your case looks like it at the rear of your wheelbase? I noticed another RU-vidr who also got sent these same LG panels, went with the screens setup much further away which almost seems to defeat the point. I take it you've not experienced any eye strain with them close like this? It certainly looks immersive, cheers.

IMO Have them as close as is comfortable to maximise field of view and the fact that you have large screens, as you say putting them further away is totally pointless, you might as well have bought smaller screens and saved a load of money! Lol

Just setup my new Racing Cockpit today, first time trying to turn laps in iracing, did it with VR since i was trying to save some money on buying 3 monitors, but i got bad motion sickness in minutes. I think i am going to end up going triple monitors.

I use VR like some others in the comments, but my main issue is you just don't get the same clarity you get with triples, both are good, but I know VR is my stop gap until I've saved up enough to do this properly. Cracking reviews mate, keep up the good work :)

I watch all the big simracing channels, and there's so many things i've bought based on your video when other reviews/impression still left me unsure. I've not been steered wrong yet! Even with certain things I know I disagree with you on, you articulate your reasoning so well it's easy to see why theres a difference of opinion. In any case, I'm 100 percent VR, but this video convinced me to invest in a budget set of triples to supplement the headset to get around the general ballaches that come with VR. I'm pretty sure I'll always prefer VR, but sometimes I avoid getting in the rig just because of the hassle of firing it all up, so this should be a great change of pace. Cant wait to get it all set up now!

@@KarlGosling I can’t swing anything as nice s as those Oled screens but I got a set of 3 32” LG monitors. They’re only 1080p which isn’t ideal but I think for this purpose they’ll be just fine. I’m hoping they’ll get me by for several years.

So I have 3x 43" displays (cheap TCL 4k units for now). If I use these calculations, I cant quite get a wrap around geometry. It gives me an angle of 57*. I guess I might have to experiment with proper angle, or wrap around. Also to note, If I go with wrap around, I will be looking at the screens at a bit of an angle. I suppose this is why the OLED display and also the extra width really shines.

Great job with this one Karl. I had to laugh at how you were watching what you said with regards to comparing it with VR. "It's similar, not the same but similar". Hopefully all the viewers caught that. I like VR but it's nice to have a setup where you can see your button boxes, shifters etc. Maybe someday I will give triples a go.

Hi Karl I’ve got triple 32 inch screens and was interested in the screen angle calculation to see whether it differs from mine. A couple of queries though, when you measure the width of screen are you including the bezels? Also, when you install the bezel free kits are you limited on the angle of what the kit allows you to do, if that makes sense? I love the triple screens but want to try VR for the immersion as I sometimes feel because the triples are a 2D image and I’m not getting the true feeling of speed and also seeing the apex better?

If you follow the guide it uses phrases like "FullDeviceWidth" and "Screen" to differentiate between the two mate. Yes you are but I'm just outside that recommended range and they still work, with 32"s you'll be well within. VR vs Triples will be down to personal preference and of course the size of your triples, 32" is not very big but VR has a very narrow FOV so requires a lot of head turning.

I'm a huge lover of VR. I had smaller triples when I was playing Elite Dangerous a while back and it was a hoot. I can imagine in simracing its equally awesome. For me, VR is still a step up but this looks like a really sweet set up. There's also the option of button boxes and really intricate setups that you can't really do in VR because you can't see what's around you.

Amazing monitors. You're setup is getting better and better. How many graphics cards are needed to run assetto corsa with sol and csp in 4k with this 3 monitors? I have an rtx 3070 but that will not be enough I guess ☺

A 3090 might just do it but you'll be limited to 60fps with DP to HDMI adapters at 4k.

Hey how do you run 3 since there are no display ports etc? Do you have a gpu that can run all 3 from hdmi 2.1 ports from the gpu? Hdmi 2.0 is 60hz cap and Doesnt run at the correct colour. Most GPUs wouldnt have 3 hdmi 2.1 ports yet so just wondering. Cheers

ACC supports triples mate. I see you've seen my DR2.0 video so that answers that question. 2x GT Omega Prime floor standing mounts, 1x integrated mounts and then joined them together using the "arms" from their triple upgrade kit. I'll update the description.

They wouldn't physically line up but MSFS allows you to rescale all the displays.

In another one of my video's mate, I think the brand was Startech but best to check, also the cables are of utmost importance! They need to be very high quality or you'll get drop outs, no HDR, no G-Sync etc.

I'm just in the process of setting up triple 48" lg c2 oleds and I'm having trouble locating DisplayPort to HDMI (cables or dongle) to run all three at 4k 120hz. I have a rtx 4090 so I should be ok in terms of power, its just I've ordered 4 different connectors and non of them work. could you le me know which connectors you settled on. thanks in advance and keep up the good work

I'm using cable matters adapters and work fine (4090 + 9900k) However, the combo 7800x3d + 4090 can get 4k 120hz but no full rgb color

There's quite a few that support the 4k 120hz BUT, if your looking for Something that Supports VRR, they dont exist on the market. =(

There is but they are very expensive and also very unreliable (from what I've read) which is another reason I went with the ones I did, again I'd rather run 1440p at 100fps with maxed out graphics than look at a bland 4k render with jagged edges.

I'm using Startech ones, these will do up to 4k 120hz with no HDR or as I am using them 1440p with full support for all features, you'll need good cables too. My 3080 can't do three 4k screens with acceptable visuals at anything over about 50-60fps so this is a good compromise :)

I’m on the process of building my own sim racing booth..beginner here..this set up really caught my eye..planning on using my ps5 as my flatform but thinking about getting a pc unit to get this field of view..what pc specs you running if you don’t mind me asking? How are you hooking these up to the 3080. What adaptors do you use to that allow g sync ? Having a hard time finding a hdmi 2.1 to display port that will support it. Any help would be amazing.

HMDI cables with DP to HDMI active adapters. They would yes, everything would remain the correct size you'd just see less as you have less screen.

I've just switched to triples. Passed off with trying to run vr even with a 3090. Going to try that formular. Looks fantastic mate. I'm currently running 3x27inch with omega prime and prime triple monitor stand. Very pleased. I actually play my games now because they just work. Great video. Look forward to seeing your pod. Great FOV, but running 3x4k is similar from the framerates than pushing pixels of a Pimax, so expect quality on mid-low to get 60 fps. Correct me if I'm wrong 🙂

I run them at 1440p everything on ultra and get around 100fps on average.

@@KarlGosling That's almost 60% less pixels, so no doubt, but I would rather turn AA completely off, go lower on the quality than run a none native res. Not possible to run the side-panels with lower res and the middle one on full? I mean you still run triple 4k in desktop mode or not?

Having tried both (obviously lol) once you've actually tried it I guarantee you wouldn't mate, 1440p is still pin sharp and everything looks so much more realistic maxed out.

Karl - we share 84cm screen distance (if not much else). Are you distracted by displayed object size changes by minor head movements towards or away from those screens?

The adapter is active the cables are usually not, plus buying the right cable (correct bandwidth) is a lottery, even if they say they are correct IME it's usually not the case.

I’ve followed your RU-vid channel for a short while now and wanted to say thanks for taking the time to do your videos, they are very insightful and enjoyable to watch. I have a question for you. I have triple C1 monitors/tvs on my sim rig setup running an RTX 4090 and I cannot for the life of me get this set up correctly. Resolution set at 12348x2160 Distance 87cm FOV set at 72 Angle on side monitors 72 deg Physical width set at 123 Pysical height set at 70 Bezel width 2cm on the center monitor, each C1 has a 1cm bezel on left and right For some reason the side monitors are way off, like they are skewed compared to the center monitor. If you would be so kind can you take a look at my resolution I’m running and the other settings to see if they are right because it’s driving me nuts….HaHa. thanks in advance!

Hi mate! 3x3840 = 11520 (so 11520x2160) so your res doesn't seem right, where have you found another 828 horizontal pixels?! lol Assuming your distance from the centre display is correct then 72 degrees for the side displays is also correct (mine is 84cm and 71.59 degrees). Bezel width can need tweaking (a tiny bit) to get things lined up but other than that yes you are good.

Hello Karl, I was thinking about doing exactly this type of setup with 3 of the 48" models of the LG C1. As you know, these displays do not have any DisplayPort inputs, only HDMI 2.1, and my 3080 Ti, much like your 3080 I assume, only has 1 HDMI 2.1 output. Can you explain to me what you did to connect the 2 other TVs? I'm guessing you used some sort of cable adapter, but I'm afraid I could lose the HDMI 2.1 characteristics over that.

You have two choices... 1- Change your 3080ti for one with three HDMI 2.1 ports. 2- Use three Startech DP to HDMI adapters which will run 4k 120hz without HDR, or as I do 1440p 120Hz with all features and in game graphics maxed out. Your card will not run all three at 4k with high visual settings at a decent frame rate, I barely get 50-60fps in ACC maxed out at 4k so running 1440p is a great compromise :)

Do you actually have GSync/VRR on the panels running HDMI 2.1, and NO gsync/VRR on the HDMI-DP adaptor? 2. If so, do you experience any tearing issues on the panel(s) running HDMI-DP? Curved displays will always be a little warped as no games support them (there is no "r" value to adjust in sim), so the best you can do is apply this formula as if they were flat mate yes.

Hey Karl. I dropped my 34 inch ultrawide and broke the panel. I am in two minds about whether to get another 165hz 34inch ultrawide monitor or a singly 144hz Hisense 55E7KQTUK. My thinking with the TV is that I could always use it like a 49 inch monitor, as the dimensions are similar- though I would run it at 1440 rather than 4k. I have a 7800x3d and a 7800xt, so I should have the processing power. Any thoughts on the TV vs monitor thing sir?

An ultra-wide is as you say just a larger screen with the top and bottom cut off so if you don't want to go triples again that would be my choice, a single large display.

i was tempted to go 3x C1's. Shame there's no Adapters on the market that will Support the VRR. I Opted for trio of Aorus Fv43u's which have Displayport to allow the Ability to Run at 4k with VRR and not have to Neuter the game settings.

You can use a 3080/90 with 3xHDMI 2.1 ports or there are adapters that support up to 1440p, 120hz, HDR, with G-Sync which is what I'm using, the 3080 cannot run triples at 4k and hit over about 50fps on ultra/high in game settings (ACC for example) so it's a good compromise, I'm not prepared to lose all the gloss (reflections, lighting, shadows, mirrors, AA, etc) as that's what makes everything look realistic, dropping to 1440p is not something I notice when playing and can barely notice when stationary and looking for it :)

I was just thinking about whether or not these OLEDs with automatic backlight limiter (ABL) are suitable for such a triple setup and then bumm, your video appeared on my screen :) So let me ask you about your experience. My guesswork went like this: these TVs dim their brightness to prevent burn-in and to decrease consumption, and they surely do it independently of each other. So, for example, in scenes where the sun is shining with big bloom from the left, then the left screen might get darker, while the right screen with shadows won't. Is it like so? Is this noticeable? If yes then how bad is it? Or did you somehow switch ABL off?

Hi Karl and everyone! Need advice. Running triples with LG C1’s and an RTX3090. Only 1 hdmi 2.1 with 3 displayports. Using the startech adapters, I’m able to do 1440p 120hz but can only activate g-sync on my display plugged into HDMI 2.1. Can’t seem to get gsync working through the startech DP>HDMI adapters. Any tips or advice?

I purchased 10ft 48gb 2.1 cables but I’m not sure they are working as advertised. I need 10ft cables to reach my PC. Getting worried as it looks like some same the VRR protocol is different from DP to HDMI and not possible with my setup. My LG C1 plugged into the hdmi 2.1 port works great. No VRR through my C1’s connected to DP with the adapter, any settings I can check?

Yes, either buy a card with 3 HDMI 2.1 ports or use Startech DP to HDMI adapters but these only support 4k 120hz with no HDR, you will also need good quality HDMI 2.1 or 2.0b cables respectively.

You wouldn't be able to run 4k at any sort of decent FPS or visual quality but you can drop to 1440p or even 1080p if needed.
