"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life,a and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

Thank you for the thorough review! Much appreciated. You are correct in that with this model we had to somewhat strafe away from "never the same" HOWEVER! As of now we are offering a list of in-house custom options including but not limited to: any type of anodizing (no cost); backspacer carving; aftermarket clips; a variety of hole patterns and types (for those who are into it); and a few light-to-dark stonewash or blasted type finishes. On top of that the knife is available in a sculpted handle either PVD stonewash or bronze stonewash as well as a full stealth black version.

So if you already have a wayfarer it can be sent in to you and have the handle anodized or they have to be planned out and bought like that?

Hi Eugene, I'm about to buy one of these and am wondering what if we lose the pivot tool? Do you send replacements or have alternatives? Thanks

+Steven Maust we can anodize and add other options if you already own it.

Eugene, a very popular RU-vid knife video maker, with very expensive tastes, who will remain nameless, mentioned that this knife has a somewhat awkward handle for a person with larger-than-average hands. Will you be making any other mid-techs with handle designs which will be more comfortable for my large hands? I like everything else about this one.

Well, Rob. I ordered this knife solely because I respect your opinion. It came in today and I'm absolutely blown away!! This knife is perfect in every way. Fit and finish is superb. Even after your rave review, it was still even better than I expected and I owe it to you for purchasing this knife.....so I say bravo to you, Rob. Bravo!!........Your sharpening customer, Ron from N.Y.

I seriously drooled over this knife back when it was making the rounds across youtube. I reeeeeaaaaalllly wanted one but couldn't really afford the $375 at the time. I might try to pick up a wayfarer pretty soon.

Young man, I have been carrying the buck 110 for more than 40 years and has served me well, much like my 89 Ford f-150 with 265,000 miles. New and flashy does not me tried and true. I did buy a 24/7 and I am happy with it so far

Wow, first time past my eyes, she is a beauty, was not really in the market for a titanium frame lock at the moment, and especially not a flipper, but you kinda sold the knife with your positive review Rob. I will give the boys a hint about Fathers Day, they might go halfers with me as they are still just apprentices, not like the guys that made and designed this Wayfarer. Was on a small excursion back in the day with the redcoats called Wayfarer, enough said. God bless All

This knife is just so unbelievably gorgeous. I want to get something really nice for myself as a 30th birthday gift. I was looking at a Sebenza, but this so utterly and completely blows it out of the water. My only concern is that if it comes with a QC issue, I have to send it all the way back from South Africa to the USA.

Thank you for a complete, objective review of an up-and-comer EDC offering from Olamic - a mid-tech that's not so expensive you'd balk at using it; a stylish, functional design that doesn't scream "tactical"; and a size and weight that is just this side of practical. Not so easy to find in stock, but received mine this morning from Recon1 in California (with free overnight shipping to New Jersey) in less than 15 hours after ordering online. It's everything you said it is.

Bells and whistles -- yes. But you know bells and whistles don't impress me much. What this knife has in spades is super solid engineering and construction, and great execution. Also, it doesn't hurt that it's pretty gorgeous too!

+TheApostleP haha I made you say that. See how I did that? I know what you are doing. Especially with texts on this folder. You are trying to use the impulse buyer in me to purchase one of these so you then get to buy if from me for that special discount I always give to knife buds. I see your ruse! (Cunning trickery!!)

Olamic is a great company and Eugene provides some of the best CS I've ever encountered.I have an Olamic WayFarer (4" custom) and the 247 will be my next one. Olamic 247 starts at $375 (satin blade with bead blasted titanium) and sculpted handles going for $445. Todd Begg's mid-tech line called Steelcraft are $445 with heavy titanium milling.

Man, I really dislike this knife, because for the first time I am thinking my Sebenza was not the right choice!

I have both and the wayfarer is aesthetically superior but I still give the sebenza the nod in terms of precision fit and finish.

Glad to see a review on this one because I was thinking about it. Do have to ask though, why did you say that Todd Begg Steelcraft were $600? The base models are all about $450, and only the "special runs" go anywhere near $600 new.

Well, I have a Wayfarer on order because of this great review. I have a lefty friend that is looking for a knife that suits his disability (just kidding). A Para 2 is the only thing I had for him to play with (which I felt might be left hand friendlier). He liked it, but I was wondering if you had any suggestions for him in the same price range. Thanks in advance and I really appreciate the excellent reviews.

Almost any Benchmade Axis lock knife is a good lefty option, as are many Spydercos and ZT's with lefty clip mounts.

Thank you for another great review Rob! I’ve been seeing some really weird reviews on this knife. There’s plenty of good reviews but, I’ve actually seen people giving this knife a bad review, going as far as to not recommend it. I don’t understand that. Anyway, I have one coming tomorrow that I got off the secondary market and I can’t wait! I was wondering if you’d be interested in sharpening it for me and fixing the plunge grind if it needs it? I will email you. Btw, the one I’m getting has m390 steel.

nice review and agree with you. Saved some money as i am left handed (guess will still use my Zt 0808 with your edge with stlll amazes me) just being silly but wouldnt it be cool if they anodized the barrel spacers say blue or green.

Sir, I have been watching your videos for atleast a year now and I take it information into high consideration when making a purchase. I also consider the Sebenza 21 the standard for any knife, as I have 2 a small and large. How do u stack the 247 against the 21? Close, on par or slightly better? We know you are slightly biased. and there is nothing wrong with that. But could you share your opinion either way as how the 2 knifes stack up? I ordered a 247 about an hour ago based on your review I watched 3 days ago.

They are completely different. But go with something exciting. Sebenzas are tired, worn out and boring.

Do you really think that Todd Begg chose Reate because it's located in China? It makes a lot more sense to me that he simply wanted to work with David Deng who just so happens to run a machine shop in China because that's where he lives.
@TheApostleP
@TheApostleP 7 лет назад
Kyle Stewart I don't think I said or implied hat Todd set out specifically to have his knives made in China. His own account of the process that led to Reate making the Steelcraft line was purely about cost, capability and his relationship with David Deng.
@kylestewart4444
@kylestewart4444 7 лет назад
Cost, capability and a good relationship with the manufacturer all seem like pretty good reasons to me.

I'd love to get one of these in hand it looks more pocket friendly than the Wayfarer.Of course my GF would kill me lol . That polished detent ball ramp is really slick . I wonder if that could be done to my 0452 "pocket sword" (as Nick Shabbazz calls it) Perhaps if enough people bug them the'll make a left handed version for you lefties .

You always say that Imperial as opposed to metric sizes are only used in America, I still use Imperial when sizing up anything I measure here in the Mother country of Great Britain. We might be European, but have a long history with our cousins across the pond, and we still have a Queen, and if thats not Imperial then I do not know what is. God bless all us Imperial measurers. Depends how it's finish. Stonewashed titanium looks amazing and hides scratches really well.

Striders stop lugs only lock up on the Ti frame side, thats why there is so much flex in their mechanism. Any cutting force actually cantilevers the blade and causes lock engagement to change and the frame to flex. NOT GOOD!

Is the written quote from the Bible? I've read it a few times and the wording makes no sense to me. For example "all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made"......What does that even mean? Nice knife vid but probably not aimed at many of your viewers at that price. If they want collectible exotica, perhaps Jim Skelton's 'knife jewellery' channel would be more appropriate.

Paul Greenwood He is speaking of Jesus Christ. Even thou there there is 3 God the Farther God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. There is one being the Trinity . And all things were made by Christ by Him and through Him for His pleasure and to do with as He pleases. Read .John the first chapter pray about it and if you have to read it 100 times the good Lord will show you. Precept on Precept line up on line here a little there a little. Pray for knowledge as I will also pray for you.

+paul greenwood No offense taken. Gods word is hard to understand. That is why I said pray I have to continually.I will some times read something I have read so many times And then the good Lord shows me something I had not seen before.It is like reading a new book. And also remember the Apostles walked with our Lord And He had to explain to them as we are His children. The Lord will feed us a little milk and as we get stronger meat. And the stronger we get the stronger the meat He will feed us. Hope you have a blessed day. May email is jsboggyhollow@gmail.com if ever I can help send me a line.

Paul with Spyderco midtechs costing 300 or more such as the Rassenti and Slyz collaborations and ZT limited production runs that cost even more it's relevant and affordable . I think that the Apostle P knows his flock as any good preacher does . Jim would carry a fully pimped out wayfarer .

As soon as I saw the case I knew I couldn't afford it. Folding knives are like today's cars ... all look the same. Quality differences of course, but the esthetics are becoming boring.
