Good morning, what are the proportions that can be increased without compromising the heating of the radio? Another doubt is related to the values in watts, I ask this because it does not appear in watts in the menu, but in numbers, so it is difficult to know how many watts we are increasing, understand? Thanks-pw8rs-Brazil
Hi Renato, yes I understood. Check this page www.hampedia.net/yaesu/ft-857-second-menu.php and this other one www.vk4sn.com/Radios/FT857 for more details on the service values. It looks like they correlate to byte value (0 to 254 in decimal.) I do not recommend to change the service menu values. They depend on each radio specific calibration and cannot be translated from radio to radio. Good luck!
Hi Gabriel, this menu probably puts voltage on the antenna connector, as per service manual page 23: - ATAS control voltage confirmation - 1. Connect the DC voltmeter to the HF/50 MHz antenna jack. 2. Select menu item “71: ATAS.” 3. Press the [A] key, and confirm that the voltage is 9.0 to 10.1 Volts. 4. Press the [B] key, and confirm that the voltage is 7.5 to 8.5 Volts. 5. Press the [C] key, and confirm that the voltage is more than 10.5 Volts.
@@VA3HDL hi. Yes i know the options for atas test are primarily just to verify the atas voltages but they are adjustments too. Yaesu’s manual does not admit it but it can be adjusted by holding the the a b c keys one at a time. The pressing of the keys will display a value from 0- 255 like other service menu items and can be adjusted while holding a key down and turning the tuning dial. My radio was all messed up and would not work with an atas due to the settings being all set to 255. I am curious what the factory settings are for it. I have been guessing with mine and got the antenna working but dont want to overvolt it.
