Thanks for your good explanations. Mine also got problem with the relay. I'm going to add another relay for my walbro fuel pump after this. Cheerio De 9w6 LZ, Sabah Malaysia.

Great video on explaining this!. However, I have a problem on my fuel pump relay. When I turn the key to on, I hear the fuel pump, and the car will start and run but when I accelerate quickly or "jumping" on it , the fuel pump quits but doesn't blow the fuse. I can't start the car unless I put a hot 12V battery fused wire to the fuel pump wiring and then it will start and as long as I'm easy on the car going back to my garage. After I arrive and take the key out, the engine keeps running until I disconnect the 12V bat feed from the fuel pump wire. What would your recommendation be to resolve this?

When it comes to fuel pumps two things you have to measure if you have correct fuel pressure number two you have to see if you have a code that might not necessarily be something related to a fuel problem should I get down that's the correct way to do it and the recommended way you should have around 50 psi when you crank at idle those are the first steps

hello Sir God bless you for your great work...Sir 97 savanna on relay pin 30(has nothing) goes to pump and 87(has 12.4v) hot all the time, when i jump 30 with 87 I hear nothing and relay is not clicking when I turn key on... but the minute i gave straight power with my power probe to gray wire on fuel pump van starts now ... what do you thing is the problem Sir? someone changed pump with didn't fix the problem AND i am not part changer

I believe part of the video addresses that issue sometimes you have a relaying backup where the computer gives 12 volts and also a ground

thank you for your quick reply. the car in question is a 2005 toyota rav 4. it is the open circuit relay.

also on a follow up, would i cut wire to computer and run to body ground or just tap into it.

@@geraldlockhart809 when you ground something you have to make sure you ground the coil side not the load side otherwise it'll be a short circuit and if you have an open the best thing to do is to leave the relay in the circuit go to pin 87 see if you measure 12 volts I have a video on my channel Joe electronics schematics for auto of measuring relays in circuit and then tracing back it's much easier that way

@@geraldlockhart809 no problem keep me updated the best ways to do it with the relay in the circuit take a wire put it to pin 87 pin 30 you will see if the relay is clicking on and the ground is being given by the computer on the coil side good luck

There are no numbers on the plug to the fuel pump. Howdo i know which nerd to be grounded or have 12 volts applied to them??

And sometimes you have a signal going to the computer from the relay telling the computer that the relay has been activated

what if computer gives no ground. can i run a body ground to get it running/

@@geraldlockhart809 yes good question I believe I addressed that issue on one of the other videos that you can give a ground to the relay exactly to try to activate the relay very good question and very good troubleshooting on your part

i need help my car 2011 BUICK LACROSSE CXS has been dead for 3 months ,it started in sept2019 with a UO100 AND PO23F CODE .my question is ,i cant find answers no where , wtf is a "fuel pump secondary circuit" . and also , my # 10 ECM fuse keeps blowing ! the best diagnostic tool i have is a "BLUEDRIVER" and i got 2 test lights and one of them detects hot and ground power , and a couple of digital and analog volt meters and a ECT 2000 open and short detector ! ! while i was at dr.'s appt , 3 hrs later i came back and when i opened my car door ,i heard about 8 to 10 fast clicks under the hood , i discovered finally , one thing clicking was my # 7 ecm relay ,and something else which sounds like its under my intake . now when i connect my battery ,it will make noise ,and qa while later do it again .if i use my remote it does it ,if i open or close the trunk and car door it does it ,i am completely stumped on this one ! HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHELP !!!! LOL) THANKS FOR ANY TIPS YOU GIVE ME IN ADVANCED !

Yes sorry I didn't get back to you earlier I did not see a schematic for this but whenever you have a code beginning with you usually means no communications to computer module that's number one number two since you have a fuse that blew ECU that goes to the computer module you lost a 12 volts to the computer other thing is the computer controls fuel relays by either the 12 volts or giving in a ground so it sounds like they are all related and your problem is probably a short on the computer line or a sensor that goes to the computer so good luck I keep me informed

Για σας μπράβο ωραίο βίντεο εγώ εχω ένα πρόβλημα με το seat Ibiza 2005 1.4 έβγαλα την μπαταριά για να την φορτώσω και όταν την ξανατοποθέτησα και έβαλα το κλειδί στην θέση ΟΝ βγάζει έναν θόρυβο μέσα στο ταμπλό σαν να ανοιγοκλείνει κάποιος ρελέ γρήγορα σαν κρουστικό τρυπάνι και όταν γυρίζω την μίζα γυρίζει κανονικά αλλά δεν παίρνει μπρος. Εχω κάνη έλεγχο και βρήκα το ρελέ που κάνη τον θόρυβο το επισυνάπτω (191 906 383c) 167αυτό το ρελέ μάλλον τροφοδοτεί την αντλία βενζίνης και όταν αποσυνδέω την αντλία βενζίνης σταματάει ο θόρυβος και μετράω την τάση και είναι 10 βολτ περίπου ενώ στην μπαταριά είναι 12.5 βολτ και όταν βάζο μια λάμπα για φορτίο αντί για την αντλία αρχίζει και πάλη ο θόρυβος στο ρελέ και η τάση πέφτει στα 3 βολτ μήπως μπορεί κάποιος να βοηθήσει να ξέρει από που τροφοδοτείται το ρελέ της αντλίας για να ελέγξω την τροφοδοσία του. το ρελέ το εχω ανοίξει είναι καθαρό και δουλεύει με χωριστεί τροφοδοσία. όταν βάζω λαμπάκι στην βάση εκεί που Μπένη το ρελέ στη θέση του Πηνίου από το ρελέ ανάβει το λαμπάκι και έχει χαμηλή τάση 5 βολτ και όταν το βάζω μεταξύ ρελέ και σασί ανάβει κανονικά ((thimios1953@gmail.com))

-Well done nice video I have a problem with the seat Ibiza 2005 1.4 I took out the battery to charge it and when I put it back and put the key in the ON position it makes a noise in the dashboard as if a relay opens and closes quickly like a percussion drill and when I turn the starter it turns normally but it does not start. I checked and found the relay that made the noise I attach it (191 906 383c) 167this relay probably supplies the petrol pump and when I disconnect the petrol pump the noise stops and I measure the voltage and it is about 12 volts while it is on the battery.5 volts and when I put a load lamp instead of the pump, the noise in the relay starts to fight and the voltage drops to 3 volts, maybe someone can help to know where the pump relay is supplied from to control its supply. the relay I have opened is clean and works with a separate power supply. when I put a light bulb in the base where Benny the relay in place of the Coil from the relay the light turns on and has a low voltage of 5 volts and when I put it between the relay and the chassis it lights up normally ((thimios1953@gmail.com))

86 has 2 sec prime and power when crank , 85 has ground , 87 has power all the time but 30 which is going to fuel pump had nothing...but when i gave straight power to gray wire on fuel pump after that van starts all the time ... its keep doing that van runs ok for 4 or 5 days and all the sudden it will crank but no start and pin 30 will have nothing ... when ever pin 30 has ground van starts all the time ...PLEASE HELP

87 is the one that goes to the load 30 is the one that goes to the 12 volts 87 is the one that goes to the pump should have 12 volts on it if the relay is activated see if the relay is backwards or a broken wire from the relay to the fuel pump

Actually I just saw the circuit that's the opposite 30 is going to the fuel pump like you said an 87 goes to the 12 volts sounds like the relay is not activated or the contact or load side is not closing you have to get 12 volts pin number 30 the trick is just because you measure 12 volts at 87 doesn't mean that the relay is activated and is good try another relay remember also there could be an open between 86 and 85 that's why measuring pin 30 is important to get 12 volts

Pin 87 will always have 12 volts because it goes right to the fuse to the battery so that doesn't really say much except at the fuse is good and the wire the key is getting pin number 30 to give you 12 volts right to the fuel pump measure 86 and 85 to see if you have resistance on the coil side you should have a small resistance check the terminals inside the relay in a fuse panel also

Sir i checked every thing but when its crank no start then I had nothing on 30 and when its starts then I see ground on pin 30 ... there is 4 wires connecter by the fuel tank ,when it was not starting then I jumped 30 with 87 and check V on gray wire before connecter and V was there , I checked V after that connecter and V was missing then I eliminate connector and van starts now ... but the weird thing was when it was not starting few days ago i just gave straight power with my power prob to gray wire after that connector and van was starting for few days with no problem ...

fuel sender buffer module and oil pressure sensor is in the fuel system but oil pressure sensor is just for backup of fuel rely and i have no idea if bad or going bad fuel sender buffer module would prevent van from starting... well thankx again Sir God bless you.

Well there is a certain amount of heat that is given off when a relay is activated however if you want to know the exact current you can put a current meter that they have that measures 30 amps instead of the fuse as long as it has the same rating but you cannot use a meter because the meter is only go up to 10 amps if you need further explanation please respond
