FUJIFILM X-T4 for Landscape Photography in 2022? Rolling Hills Sunrise Landscape Photography Vlog
In this video I use my Fujifilm X-T4 for Landscape Photography to answer the question - is the fuji xt4 good for landscape photography in 2022?
Usually I vlog with the Fujifilm XT4 but decided today to switch things up and film with my Sony A7iii and do landscape photography with the Fuji XT4.
I go to a nice spot in the Scenic Rim with rolling hills, mountains, grass fields and thankfully got some nice light!

I don't know anything about Fuji cameras but people that have them seem to love them. I don't think you can go really wrong with any camera out nowadays, no matter what system it is. Beautiful area with those rolling hills and had some really nice light. Some really nice shots in here but I was hoping for some photos of your friends there, the cows. They certainly had their eye on you! Really nice image at 1:41! Hope all is well mate, stay safe!

Ace vid as ever mate. Love that bit of light you got on the rolling hill shot, that area looks golden for photography. As for the cameras, I started with Fuji - many years ago, was a pleasure to shoot with even back then. They just seem to get their designs right. As I’m not attached to either system I say shoot with whichever, nice to mix it up now and again

Brilliant shots, always keen to find more Fujifilm content! I currently have the X-T4, but would love a Fuji with a deeper grip, so hanging out to see what the X-H2 will bring. I considered the X-S10, but it just misses out on a few things I love on the X-T4 (dual card slots, weather sealing, bigger battery).

Really nice landscape but I think you missed one at 2:45 just behind you the road leads over a small hill and you can just see a tree off to the left. All the major brands are excellent and can be used to create great images. To me, it’s which system does best at staying out of the way. By that I mean the design ergonomics: button placement, menu screens, and how easy is it to change settings in a fast-paced or stressful environment. As someone who learned photography using fully manual film cameras, I gravitated to Fujifilm, as the controls were the most similar to a film camera. Plus their amazing film simulations. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Thanks Jim! As mentioned in the video this wasn’t really a summary or review or discussion on if the Fuji can do landscape… more so can I use it for landscape (as you say, the camera “not getting in the way” I like that!), how does it work for me as a landscape body, as I honestly hadn’t used it for landscape until this morning 😂 and I’ve owned it for months. Shame! I love the Fuji for a multitude of reasons as you said, will do a more thorough video on that soon. So wanted to take some shots, normal vlog style and see what it could do, First impressions for landscape … pretty impressed, but still some full frame goodness I do miss.

Thank you very much for this (as well as many other videos ..) videos, your very good presentation! I also really liked your places there in Australia. I'm in a big dilemma if I have to buy the Sony a7iv FullFrame or buy the Fujifilm crop again (I already have a Sony a6400 Crop) but I think the Fuji colors are unbeatable .. But I'm very worried because of the Fuji raw files in Lightroom not supported properly (we only deal with lightroom I do not want to deal with Caprure one, I do not know at all and that is one reason I did not buy Fuji from the beginning) But I love the quality of image and construction. Another final reason is the large overheating in the Fuji video. Thank you again, sorry for my English. Greetings from Winter (and with a lot of snow this time) Greece. I hope it continues as well as now :-)
@RauriBarron
@RauriBarron 2 года назад
Thanks a lot 😊 I appreciate the support! Fuji is great and I’m sure you’ll love it, if you want to do both video and photo, the XT4 and A7iv are both great options, I do think the raw files from the A7iv will be better, it’s full frame and 33MP. So if you can afford it I’d stay in the Sony world, Also if you want autofocus for vlogging. But, if you’re primarily shooting stills and love the Fuji feel/look, the Fuji ecosystem is lovely too, I enjoy using it, I like the colours and and video is great. But I do wish Fuji had better autofocus for video.

The images looked great! :) Andy Mumford and Piet Van den Eynde have been using LR for years for their Fujifilm shots. In the case of Andy, he is a serious landscape photographer that prefers using the Fuji X-series of cameras. Where I like Capture One is that it is less processing intensive than LR for me. On a special note, C1 does provide a ProStandard profile for the Sony cameras, including the A7iii. That profile tweaks the colors a little bit that you may or may not like but worth checking out. I have a L-bracket for my X-T4 and I promptly removed the vertical bracket. Too restricting for usage of the LCD screen. I one feature I love on the Fuji cameras is the ability to meter to 900 seconds - no long exposure calculator or locking shutter release needed. :)
@RauriBarron
@RauriBarron 2 года назад
Hey mate thanks for checking this out and really appreciate your comment. You’ve definitely got me interested in capture one, sounds like it has some good advantages 👍 Ah is that the small rig L bracket? Doesn’t work well in portrait with the screen? I may test some before buying then. I’m planning my video on “things I love about the Fuji” and the shutter speeds is one 🤩 so good!
@Martin-nu6ym
@Martin-nu6ym 2 года назад
@@RauriBarron Yes, it was the Small Rig L-bracket. I now carry the vertical plate in the camera bag to assemble back onto the horizontal plate for those times I really need portrait position on a tripod. Oddly, the Small Rig does not give you the ability to slide out or slide off the vertical plate. I prefer the full movement of the screen over the few times I need the vertical plate. I've used Olympus mirrorless cameras since 2015. Yes, they have their shortcomings but you find me a system that doesn't have any drawbacks. These days I don't think there is any such thing as a bad system or bad manufacturer, and the photographers choices of which one they go with are influenced by lots of things including budget. For me the image where you brought up the shadows looked slightly un-natural - certainly in the shadow area - to my eyes a bit washed out. But hey, it is all down to personal taste at the end of the day and after all remarkable that we can do these things.

Yeah one thing I noticed and I mentioned briefly, the “edited” images look better … well, ‘not’ edited in Lightroom. As it was my first time pushing the Fuji Raws i did notice the issues that people have mentioned online about Lr and Fuji Raw. The JPGS straight out of camera are levels above Sony (my opinion), But I’ll find a way to make it work, may give capture one a go with Fuji raw if I used it more for landscape. 😊 I’m also used to the ability of full frame with the shadow detail, so was good to test and compare. Great location, video and images, mate. Like someone has already commented below, "all major brands are excellent" and it really doesn't matter. being creative and having fun is the focus (pardon the pun). At the end of the day what really attracted me to FujiFilm was its color science and film simulations. As you've probably already noticed, I tend to gravitate to desaturated tones and scenes that aren't so harsh or colorful. Like everyone says, "there is no wrong or right". However, "grass is always greener on the other side", and "you always want what you don't have" .... LOL

Haha yeah, grass is always greener is so true. It was nice testing this out, as I mentioned this was my first time using it for landscape, coming from Sony full frame it was quite a change.
