In this weeks landscape photography vlog I go to Point Cartwright for Sunrise, what a place! The good thing about photography at the beach or coast is the variety of subjects and types of photography you can do, in this video I start with sunrise photography, move onto some Minimalist beach photography, then some seascape photography, long exposure photography, and finally some abstract/fine-art photography. The beach is a great place to practice and spend hours.

Yep, Point Cartwright is 'a wonderful place to shoot'. A really picturesque place with handy cafes for brekky.

Sure is, this type of place is some of the best imo, having such variety of sand and unique rocks, different angles, facing east and west make for so many different compositions and types of photography. Want to spend more time there soon.

Fantastic video and photos Rauri! I am so glad you found my channel, so I could find yours! I love all the texture and patterns in the rocks. I really like the photo of the rocks at 9:09 where the crack is going diagonal through the photo. Just a really nice balance and composition. But I think one of my favorite photos is the sunrise photo at the beginning at the 2:37, it is a great composition with the rocks leading you through the photograph. Wow this coastline looks fantastic and full of potential! You got some cracking images Rauri, not easy to scout a new location, film and get images while racing again a sunrise! 😂 The image at 5:15 is beautiful with that light coming in and the crashing waves photo is a great shot!

What a beautiful location! I think I saw Adrian Alford doing a moonrise video from there once, I remember that lighthouse. As much as I love great seascape images, I think my favourite shots in this one had to have been the textured rock photos, especially since we don't have a lot of that on our beaches here! Slap a frame around those ones! Really enjoyed the video mate. Hope all is well down there, keep safe!

You do have some great coastline to explore, my favourite shot was the first one at sunrise. One day I will get a sunrise shot - it's just so cold out early morning here right now!

Really great video, Rauri!! I quite liked a few in that first set with the lovely sunrise light, and the bit of light reflecting on the rocks. And the black and white ones at around 14:30 Oceanside photography isn't often high on my list, but you've done really well!!

Damn, things must've been hectic, I didn't realise I hadn't finished this! Man, that sea foam was crazy! The detail shots of the textured rock are cool, I especially like the first two of those. That guy in the music sounds very calm about being face to face with a lion (or did I mishear that?). Love the silky texture of the water in the shot at 13:32. If you like rock textures, you'll have to plan for a lot of time when you go to Shelly Beach.

Great video Rauri and what a location! I've never been but definitely want to go now! I love the shots after the sun came up and bathed the rocks in that beautiful light, especially the one right at the end. I also really like the ones of the detail of the rocks, in particular the one you vlogged about with the diagonal line and holes: love the light, shadows, texture and overall feel of it. The couple of B&W shots at the end are really nice too - it's funny I actually have a B&W abstract shot in my next video even though I hardly ever do B&W - I think the subjects you picked worked really well in B&W. This makes me want to get back down to the beach! Oh and good work on the super early morning to get there for sunrise!!

Could be your best video yet Rauri, really enjoyed it, the first image was awesome but then they just kept getting better, I am partial to a nice detailed rock image and you got a few, rocks amaze me when you look at the detail , and like you said they almost look like drone images, really difficult to pick a favorite from this bunch.PS you are walking around in shorts and I have snow half way up the house... thanks for sharing mate.

Looks like you were having so much fun out there Rauri, who wouldn't with beautiful light, great rocks and amazing wave action 🙏🙏🙏 I hope you don't mind me issuing a small word of warning; that NISI pouch can act like a sail when it is so high up on your tripod, especially if a sudden gust occurs. I have lost a camera in that exact situation (with a NISI pouch) and I'd hate for it to happen to anyone else. I absolutely loved that last flurry of images, especially the image at 14.39 where you captured that spray in mid flight, just fab 🙏🙏🙏

Was a great morning but I was quite tired so I’m glad the excitement showed through 😂 cheers mate will keep it in the bag more often, didn’t have much wind which was nice! Generally I don’t tie anything to my tripod. I’ve had my fair share of tripods down and breaks that I should be more careful and learn hey? 😂 thanks again for the kind words mate.
