The S is indeed a great camera. But, with the V coming out, the price difference between the S and the T narrowed down. So, as good as the S is, the T is the best X100 alternative today. Wifi, bigger screen, classic chrome, faster, and a lot more. Get the T. :-)
Exactly why I purchased the X100T a month ago. Found a good deal on a used one with some accessories on ebay for just a few dollars more than most of the X100S' that I saw.
I have the original x100 and it took until the x100v’s upgrades for me to finally think its worth upgrading. Still to this day, the original x100 sensor’s colors are so original. I can’t even get similar colors and feel with the V.
Thank you so much! most are in camera! I used the provia simulation and customised it in camera. then I edited them to give it more of a film look. Lightroom for the raws and Snapseed for the jpegs. But like i said I don't really edit my photos much.
I have Sony full frame gear, and it’s not as sharp as those at F2 for sure, but it is still sharp enough and I don’t think anyone would really notice or care unless you zoom in.
I decided to get the X100T because of the Wifi transfer and Classic Chrome. Bought on eBay and honestly, whay I got was a new camera. No scuffs, no issues. Because of the whole covid-19 I haven't been able to put it through its paces, but what I've gotten out of it, looks pretty good. I'm even shooting in jpg to test the different film simulations and see how they look straight out of the camera.
That's great! Yes the lack of WiFi on the S can be an annoying issue but I just use my sd to usb c drive haha. Well I look forward to seeing your images!
@@leoorlandogalang Yeah, I have a sd to lightning adapter but being able to control the camera with my phone was a big plus for me. I've posted a few to my instagram. Feel free to check them out if you'd like. instagram.com/moncho33/
Just got the X100T and from the Original to the F the images wide open are only soft when taking close-ups. Normal distances are fine. Just recheck it. It is a common reported issue and corrected with the new V. Regards
Can you shoot 1080 at anything close to 1/30th of a sec? And does it have manual control over exposure in video? (Upgrading from a Canon Elph 310 HS, a very fun and flexible point and shoot)
Great review, I recently bought the X100s, too. But for fast action and precision, I have the X-T3. re: "Focus by wire": Hard mechanical focus and decent autofocus are pretty much incompatible. Like stick shift and automatic transmission in your car. Pick one. (Note: You really do not (!) want a tiny motor hit a hard mechanical stop). Bad news for any mechanism.
Great, informative video. I've been considering getting a Fuji camera as a beginner to learn with. What's the max amount you would pay for a second hand X100S right now? A few I've seen are upwards of £350+.
I bought my X100s secondhand 4 years ago. This is still the camera I go to whenever I go on travelling. The photos are fantastic for portraits straight out of camera. They still look cool and many people think this is a film camera. I agree secondhand it is still a great camera
One thing I’ve always hated was the raised white model letter on the S and T...it trigger my OCD... tried covering it up with a black markup marker on the S I owned ...but that never really worked ... what can I say, it bugged me...
Haha I know the feeling. We are always looking for that minimalistic look. I had the same issue on all fuji cameras with the back LED light after every picture. I had to cover it 😂
Great vid, thanks. I am lucky to have xt30 xt1 griii and the 100s, I use the s more than any other. It just makes me want to take pictures. I do miss the tilt screen but it doesnt stop me. Bag full of batteries goes a long way lol
I picked up a mint x100t sometime in the last year for only 350.00/400.00. With only 1200 shots on it. I was very disappointed with the xpro3. But the x100v is a nice upgrade from the f. I have the xpro1, and xpro2 so no plans on picking up the xpro3. But I'm really considering the x100v. Just for the better lens , and being weather sealed. My only major complaint with the V is the removal of the D-pad. I want to be able to program buttons how I like. They say the x100v battery is better. If you use the evf vs the LCD. But with the removal of the D-pad. You now have to use the LCD more to change settings. I honestly like my old x100t better than the xpro3. I did get to spend about two weeks with the 3 and really wasn't a fan of the flip screen. Anyways. Any of the older x100 cameras are a great value. And a must buy, for the price you can't beat them.
Fantastic deal! I would love to try the xpro3 soon. I don't believe the screen would be an issue for me as I never shoot with the lcd on. In terms of features I agree the v is better than the f but in terms of image quality, I would be able to tell. But yeah you are right in that picking up any of the x100 series cameras will not disappoint 👍
I have had my x100s for over 5years, and i think its time to move on, ofcause it all depends on your needs but the autofocus just dossent cut it, i miss alot of shots of my kids on this account especialy indoor. When your out and about in the day time it will do just fine but ofcause not the fastest in class.. I also miss wifi. Every now and then it harpens that images are just stuck on the Camera for so long as i havnet had time and then just forget. Also I mainly shoot jpeg and I want the new film simulation(even though am kind of annoyed that they are using something like this that easily could be patched as a business model) As am not getting younger I would like a tilt screen am no longer bother to get on my knees to get the shoot am looking for often am just simply shooting blind and hoping for the best... But as you indicate price of a used 100s and a brand new 100v are just worlds apart
I think you hit it spot on! for different types of photography this may not be the best camera for people as autofocus is a bit slow. And I also think shooting in singlepoint autofocus is probably the Best way to get results. But yeah if your genre of photography is more fast paced not like street photography then I would definitely recommend looking at the X100F or maybe the x100V due to the superior auto focus capabilities. And I also agree about the new film simulations this could easily be passed to every single camera in the range. But hey thanks for the comment it was very insightful!
I am about to buy this camera, can u tell me about autofocus? I have Canon 50D with 50MM lens and I am using Single Point Autofocus only,if I use the same on this x100s,is it still that slow?
Nar3k Manukyan yes it is slow but I have no experience with your d50 so I can’t say if it’s comparable. I would advise you to try it before you buy it 🙂also in dark conditions it’s very bad
I had an x100s. It stuck with me everywhere I went. I got dust everywhere even if I put gaffer tape on speaker and usb doors right when I bought it. I even got some inside the ovf.
Going to get myself an X100 either F or V. Just to be able to keep shooting at night or crap lighting. I'm cheap and don't like to use the more expensive high ISO films. Also just to give myself a break from film haha. Images look clean, man. Those night shots were sick.
One con I would add is the dynamic range. It’s real bad mid day shooting and even during early golden hour the shadows can be completely crushed. Depends on the lighting entirely, but I’ve had a lot of issues with this more recently.
Excellent video. I am interested to pick up an x100 series (not decided which one), however need to decide which ones I need to drop since I already have an xPro1, x70 and xt20. If only the x70 has a viewfinder, I would probably not considering for an x100
Dont you feel the images are somewhat dark? is something I feel, and see, using for instance a sony a6000, same settings, the images from the fujifil turn out very dark. But Im not sure, if its just a fuji thing or I got a deffective camera. ND filter not on, no exposure compensation affecting since, I shoot manual...
Hmm that's strange. Mine turn out fine. Maybe it's something to do with the sensor. Sony are known to have great low like capabilities. Also check the Internal nd filter in the settings 👍
I’ve been using my 7 year old x100s more since I bought the x pro 3 and I fell in love with it all over Again. To the point where I kind of want the x100v now lol. But to be honest, the x100s still takes beautiful photos when compared to today’s cameras
Yes it's still a good camera especially for the price .. the nice thing about the 100t in comparison to x-pro1 is that it has the fujifilm classic chrome simulation .. with this simulation you can make your own Kodak porta 400 simulation ..for the porta 400 settings go to fuji x weekly website .. stop shooting raw Leo .. lol again nothing can beat fujifilm jpeggs .. try that kodak porta 400 especially on the streets and you know what I mean .. if you want little changes convert your jpegg to a tiff and after your retouching convert it back to jpegg .. much better way then raw and you will keep the beauty of the jpegg's without losing quality .. note of course you can do porta 400 also on 100v
I edit on my phone quite a bit besides on my desktop. There are Raw to jpeg converter apps that you can find. The one I have cost me 5.00 U.S. as I remember. I use the converter app when I upload photos from an SD card directly onto my phone using a lightning connector. It works very well.😀👍
what sort of strange American/ Jamaican style accent do you have ? a friend of mine here said you were a just really posh english guy pretending not to be posh !! is this why you talk so strangely ??
This is a very strange comment haha! If you need to know I'm a Londoner, but I lived in the states for a while during my teens which is why you could say I have a hybrid accent. That's it really, no conspiracy 😂
