I had the XE-1 for years and didn’t feel the need for a X100. I passed the XE-1 on recently and got the X-100V and love it. I never liked the D pad so “the V is for me”.

The T adds the option of Wifi which I find hugely practical on the go if you want to edit and share quickly on the go from your phone. As well as using the phone as remote.

I've owned S, T, and F models. To me the X100T is the best version. Image quality is already great. No need for focus joystick added in the F version. No need for ISO selection dial. I had one button to switch between 200 and auto ISO and it covered 99.9% of my needs.

I’ve been using the S since 2014 and it’s the one and only camera that I’ve missed when I forgot to bring it with me when I travel. I also think that with the old lens, 16MP is the sweet spot, which is also why I didn’t go for the F when it came out. I bought the V a few days ago and I absolutely love the tilting screen and the sensor/lens combination. Also, weather sealing means I won’t have to worry about it in the rain. It is the ultimate refinement for the classic X100 series in 2020. I will be keeping both since I really like the characteristics of the S’s sensor/lens combination, and I do agree with you that if I have a limited budget and can only get one of them, it would be the S.

Hi, 👋 so, I’ve got this x100s ( U$ 750) who seems to be really conserved, and then there’s this x10 wich seems to be new too, and it costs U$ 512. So, I wanted to save some money if I could, since my daddy isn’t at the best conditions right now, do you think the x100s is worthy the price in comparison to the x10s? Sorry I’m new at photography 🤧

I've got the S and love it. The 16M sensor doesn't expose the flaw of the lens. Also it doesn't require higher shutter speed to combat camera shake. This is one of my cameras that I don't feel any need to upgrade.

Hi Matt...long time follower. Love your content! I’ve had my S since it was first released and it’s by far my most used camera. The 4 way controller wheel became unresponsive/glitchy so I sent it into Fuji for repair. I spoke with them earlier today...since it’s and older model and they no longer have parts, they offered me a brand new X100T as a replacement for $390. I jumped at the offer! Thought this might be useful for someone out there with an older model looking to upgrade. Happy New Year!

I had the F and jumped on the V without hesitation. Even in landscapes and well stopped down the old lens didn't have a chance againts the new one which is visibly better even on moderately sized prints. Lens- and sensor-perfomance really have a love-affair again in the V and you can just shoot along knowing that the optical quality will hardly ever let you down under any circumstances.

I'm a former Canon user. I bought my first Fuji last year. It was a Finepix S1 that I got for a great price. As much as I love the camera, I've already found myself pushing some of it's limits. I appreciate your breakdown of the X100 series, as it's helping me learn more about the unique models that Fuji has made for the photography community. I've used cameras with flip out LCDs before. Once you use one, the flexibility it offers you makes it difficult to go back to fixed LCDs. I also like weather resistant cameras, as I do a lot of outdoor photography (I also sometimes grab the camera to take macro shots with my grubby hands, while I'm in the workshop).

I recently went from the 100F to the 100V for the new lens, the weather proofing, and the beautifully integrated tilting screen among other features. Interesting choice. I own a X100S for several years now and I love it. Never really wanted to upgrade, until the X100V came out. The decision isn't made yet, because it is a lot of money and I do not really need it. But I'd appreciate the higher resolution and the tilting screen might be a really useful option too. Well, I think I will rent one and try it. A really great comparison by the way!

Cracking review Matt, I've loved this system since buying a used original in 2012, unfortunately that developed the SAB issue and Fuji wouldn't do the free repair as I didn't have the receipt. So bit the bullet and bought a new T, this thing blew my mind I loved it literally to death, drowning it in a freak flash flood. Replaced with the F which I still use and adore. I sorely want to upgrade to the V just because it's shiny and new, but TBH at this moment in this crazy world I cant see a rational reason to upgrade. The F still produces the goods consistently without an issue. As a press photographer I lug around a full heavy canon kit all day so on my down time this wee but mighty fujifilm system is an absolute joy to use. The vast majority of the stills in the videos on my channel are shot with the X100 system it really never lets me down. New subscriber for you mate.

I think you forgot to mention that the x100v is the first one which got weather sealing. This might be a big deal for some. The weather sealing, the bigger battery, resolution, lens and tilting screen made me upgrade from x100t to x100v. But I don't like the OLED viewfinder.

I sort of have a love-hate relationship with the x100 series. I bought an S, then sold it. Felt bad so bought another one. Used it on and off then upgraded to an F and eventually sold it. The advantage of the F was the batteries are the same as my X-T2 and X-H1 as well as major upgrade in focusing.. Fortunately I bought them used as they tend to plummet in value. It's almost worth it for the leaf shutter flash advantages alone which are awesome. I finally decided that I don't "see the world" in the 35mm construct like most people claim and that the 50mm equiv seems to be the ticket, at least in my view. I wasn't enamored with the teleconverter, may as well just have an interchangeable lens camera. So I decided to use the proceeds to buy the 35mm f1.4 for my X-H1 and pocket the remaining cash for now. It's been happily bolted to the camera for awhile now and that's working out well. Who knows, maybe I'll get bit by the 100 bug again down the road..

I bought an X100F in December 2019 to replace an aging Sony digital camera. I'm used to 35 mm film SLR's but wanted a handy small high quality 'carry around' camera when I didn't want to carry around a bulky SLR with a bagful of lenses. At first I was daunted and confused by the plethora of features and controls on the exterior of the camera but now that I've become more accustomed to it I really like it..especially the built-in film simulations and built-in neutral density filter. And the non-interchangeable lens is not really an impediment for me..I find myself concentrating on composition and the built-in digital 'short zoom' capability is fine for my purposes. The only complaint I have is the placement of the 'Q' button; I've pressed it accidentally with my thumb on numerous occasions at a critical moment but that is a function of simply keeping in mind where I place my right thumb when grasping the camera. Other than that a wonderful photographic instrument I have no regrets at laying out the cash for it. And it simply looks 'retro cool'..reminds me of the classic film rangefinder cameras. The X100V came out the month after I bought my X100F..I don't feel slighted at the least that I didn't wait for the new model.

I've still got the original X100 which I bought new when it first came out. It's a great little street camera but the only thing that really bugged me was that it was so easy to knock the Exposure Compensation Wheel just by taking the camera out of the case. I thought at the time that it would have been so easy to have a lift and turn type wheel so you don't change the setting accidentally and not notice until reviewing the shots. Did they ever change that design in later models?

Great video Matt! It must be getting harder and harder to go outside in NY. Stay safe! I have bought Fuji X100t when it first came out and used it exclusively for 2 years (lots of travel and events photography). I loved the handling and colours in the jpeg, but eventually sold it because of slow auto focus in low light and plastic-like skin rendering at high ISOs. I have replaced it with Leica Q and that completely solved my main complaints I had with the Fuji. The latest Fuji X100V looks quite nice though, especially with the new lens. That was another weak point I felt with the “T”. Good luck and looking forward to your next video!

Matt: Your video is THE best comparison available today, IMHO. Following your arguments, really any of these from the S onwards, is worth buying today, and they are distinguished perfectly in the used market by each's price differential. Perhaps the S is the best value overall. In the past, I had both the original and the S and made many memorable images with both. The "soft wide open" problem is overblown; certainly it never spoiled any of my shots and I usually shot at ƒ2 or 2.8. The ND filter is excellent and the built-in flash is amazing for fill.

Great video. I bought a X100F new at Christmas. I looked at the X100V, but I gt the F for $1000. For me, I didn't need the updates for the V. I switched out some Canon gear to get the F. Then I decided to look at The X-T3 vs. the new X-T4. Same deal here. For what I'm doing, the X-T3 is just fine. I love the Fuji cameras. Elegant design. I kept my Canon 5D Mark III, and most of my Canon lenses. It's nice to have the options. One reason I went to the X100F was size and weight. Wanted something a little less cumbersome to carry around.

It was actually the gateway camera that lured me into Fuji. Back when I was actually going into the office, I'd just pop it in my work bag with a neoprene protective sleeve. On vacation it's the camera I like to carry at night so I'm not drawing attention to myself with an ILC and camera bag. The lens definitely shows its age, as you say, but in the plus column is: D-pad + joystick and the 24mp sensor (which in my opinion is really special). I think the V looks killer, but I'm not happy about losing the D-pad as I like external controls, and I already have that sensor. I might pick up an "S" at some point, just to have that 16mp sensor. It's really nice.

My sister who is a professional photographer in California has the X100F as her "personal creative" camera and she loves it and calls it her baby :)

Another great video thank you very much Matt I'm in the market for the X100S and you helped me make my decision. My photography business will be changing drastically after this global crisis and if the S model works out well after I get rid of everything except my medium format gear I plan to then get the V

Bought the ver 1 in 2012 then the S in ‘black’ a year later. Since then have lost track of all the upgrades. Happy to see my 100S came through so well, and it’s black!

I have the T and I'm quite satisfied with it. I bought it as a travel / street cam and it fits the role perfectly, no regrets buying. Although I think Fuji is stuck now with the naming since the next one will be sixth and seventh and they've already used the "s" in second.

They used F in the 4th gen and that's why they went with V as in the roman numeral. I'm thinking next gen, they will us R for roku, i.e. 6 in japanese. Then for 7, N for nana, reserving H for hachi (8) ....

I just picked mine up for $900 in Silver 10/10 condition with the manuals, box, and extra accessories. Such a beautiful camera. I was going to get the X100V but the price is not worth it and I really like the D-Pad on the F because they remove the D-Pad in the V.

I’ve had the S, T and F and I’d say the T is the sweet spot. It’s way speedier than the S and for me the Wi-Fi capability is essential given that I shot with the film simulations and post to social media mostly. One advantage of the F is greater crop-ability due to those extra megapixels, but the Q button drives me crazy (so easy to accidentally click) and you can’t turn it off.

I have an X-e3 with the two pancakes (18 and 27mm) and the 18-55 kitlens. Recently I borrowed an x100s from a friend when my x-e3 was being cleaned and I loved the lens. I started looking for the xf 23 but couldn't decide between the 2.0, the 1.4 and the viltrox and was very much on the fence because of the sizes of those lenses when I got a very nice offer of a lightly used black x100t for €375. Seeing as this is about the price for the 23mm lens (the viltrox is slightly cheaper) but I get a complete very usable camera with it for free, I have taken this opportunity and now, thanks to your review, own two cameras and have pretty much covered all the ranges I shoot most frequently. The only thing on my list now are a nice 35 or 50 lens for portraiture, but I don't shoot portraits that often, so I am not really in a hurry there and the kitlens has my covered for now.

I agree with your choice! After using multiple fujis over the years, each sensor has a distinctive look, and the 16mp really has a beautiful natural quality to it that my current X H1 doesn't quite match

This. I don’t know what it is but the X-Trans II is my favorite sensor. I’ve owned many Fuji bodies but the X-E2 (which my son just inherited) and my new (to me) X100T (replacing my ‘lost’ X-E2) make gorgeous JPEGs. I like the others but that II is my favorite. I also own the X-H1 .. oh that shutter mechanism.. but still prefer colors from the X-Trans II.

Hi Matt.Nice review, as usual ! With the X100T, Fuji introduced wi-fi communication that allows the camera to be controlled remotely by a phone, or for rapid file transfert and geotagging . This was a deal breaker for me when I was looking for a used version of this camera.

If the Wi-fi communication only had been "rapid" I would agree.. Still does not work as exted on any of my 3 fujifilm cameras..

I've played with the WiFi control on my camera. A big feature it's lacking is the ability to do a focus lock. The app is pretty much useless without the ability to focus.

I have an XE2 with a 35mm f1.4 and I want to get a 35mm equivalent lens. Would you suggest to just get a used X100s or get a 23mm f2? The X100s option is cheaper here in Singapore.
