Their numbers are frequently off, sometimes by a little sometimes a lot. They need more double checking on these numbers, off a little is whatever but you're right this meal was closer to 90 carbs than 9.

I couldn’t say why he separates the two, doesn’t seem to be any good reason for it. But it is good to have post-workout carbs to replenish glycogen* and get the recovery process going. When people train really hard and heavy they may get so keyed up they don’t have an appetite for a while. Liquid carbs can help them get it done. He kinda says that at 7:25; add up the time from workout to second shake, and from then when he’s ready for a solid meal, that’s a good 1.5-2 hours. For most of us waiting 2 hours isn’t a big deal, but at that level those tiny optimizations matter. * all carbs replenish glycogen, but carbs consumed post-workout do appear to have a slight advantage in how efficiently they do so.
